Gotcha, didn't think they would be directly comparable. Are the effects actually the same as the leaf? I was under the impression that the extracts were often disappointing.

I've yet to try an extract myself, only the plain leaf. But yea most reports I've read give the impression that many extracts are not very good. But I've also read of some very good extracts as well so hah who knows

lol so your sobriety run is coming to an end. Are you trying to not use anything at all?

Not in the typical "recovery" way. Like I had a beer at a party the other day and that normally wouldn't be permissible under the like AA/NA looks at it... But yeah for the most part. Definitely no marijuana that stuff is fuel for insanity for me.

That's cool man, no need to follow the 12- steps. I spent like 6 years without touching any drug going to NA/AA meetings...now I'm working on recovering from my recovery ;)

Yeah I have a hard time living with balance. I've been a 12 step addict (hee hee) and I've been a heroin addict. Neither lifestyle is suitable for me. I find that I get really caught up and obsessed with drugs too easily for my liking. And also get caught up too easily in "recovery".

I just need to not think so much about it and just use my head. It's hard because rehab pretty much taught me not to trust my head..

I know what you're saying...I ended up losing my confidence in being able to make any decision on my own. I mean I already had that tendency, but too many meetings made it worse. And the whole sponsorship thing...my sponsor told me I needed to "make amends" to my drug dealer and go give him money I owed him from months ago lol.

You seem to have a good head on your shoulders I'm sure you'll find the right balance :)

Espresso machine is a success! It's kind of a crappy machine, but I have quality coffee so the end result is passable. I enjoyed a double espresso over some robust Virginian (pipe) tobacco, two chocolate covered pretzels, and a quality book (The Master of Go, the author being the winner of the 1968 nobel prize in literature, this will be my second reading of it). Coffee + tobacco is definitely my herbal medicine of choice. :)

Also, reading on your porch in January is wonderful, go California!

Tea is also good, I'm a fan of oolong tea. Right now I have some black cardamom infused tea I picked up at a Lebanese market, it's pretty nice. Actually, I think I'll make myself some right now. I'm gonna try to make a cappuccino within the next couple of days since the machine has a steamer thingy.

Also, all that hiking talk from the other day has got me wanting to do that. We have some nice but simple trails right here so I think I'll try that within the month, just gotta get some comfortable shoes for that, and get my automobile back from the shop. I need some new sober hobbies, and health promoting ones would probably be good. Anyone have any good recommendations for things to take along for a pleasant afternoon on trails?

When i lived in LA my building was just down the block from the entrance to Runyan Canyon Park in West Hollywood. Thats place has quite a few good trails (ad a huge empty pool filled with spray cans, if youre into graffiti, or huffin gas i guess. )
I used to go on hikes there all the time and take my puppy with me.
It was also the 1st place i took MDMA and mushrooms and the 2nd place at which i took LSD and smoked pot (i also tried meth there for my first time).
Good Times.

There are some things i miss about LA so much.
i guess there is always a place in your heart for where you grew up.

my mom sent me this tea from trader joes (we dont have one here :() that when you throw the little tea bag/ball into the hot water it slowly blooms into a flower.
Yummy stuff and fun to look at.

many a joint was smoked on this very bench

ive had coffee the last 2 mornings.
Its not something i normally drink, i usually prefer tea.
But some good coffee with a little milk in the morning definately hits the spot.

I love it too. I am thoroughly addicted. If I dont get it I have to sleep the entire day. In fact its a great treat sometimes to NOT drink it if I have a day off I will just sleep and eat and watch movies doing nothing at all.

I love it with milk and honey :)
