Thank you all for your replies, I apologize for being vague before...it was late. I asked b/c my friend had made the solution so that he could insuflate (snort) the cocaine discreetly while on a vacation where privacy is hard to find. He used pure saline from a store, no preservatives, just sodium chloride, and has had it for about a week. When snorted, he says that it produces MORE mucus than powder, since he filtered out non-water solubule material, he thought the excess mucus may be b/c of bacterial growth, though the solution has not changed in appearance.
Could you please elaborate on why water is cocaine's enemy? Or why cocaine is unstable in water? That friend of mine worked in a laboratory where he gave rats daily injections of cocaine. The cocaine was in a sterile saline solution and made in 225ml batches, 1 batch would last around 3 weeks or more. It was simply kept in a regular refrigerator and never did degradation come up. As this was part of a study I imagine any change in potency would have been accounted for
My mistake. Cocaine in water is fine as long as the water isn't too acidic or basic. Use distiled or bottled water if you don't want to check the pH of your tap water.
OK, so is this bacteria from the cocaine? Or from the bottle having contact with someones nose? And Im confused about the sodium bicarbonate used in the commercial stuff as a preservative- is that effective enough? I sometimes leave my saline rinse for a week or more =/
OTOH Im thinking, if cocaine can eat away a persons septum, shouldnt it eat away bacteria in the nose?
