so... im planing to roll on thursday, the problem is that i start to panic as soon as i popped those motherfuckers.. it just gets out of control and the anxiety just makes it worse. i though if u guys know what to do before u start to come up 8)

btw first time poster. thank you <3

Just tell yourself that everything will be ok, you've been through it before, there's nothing to be worried about.

i never have any anxiety before i come up... i stay preoccupied and dont think about it and before i know it bam... hits me right in the face =D

lmao my friends always laugh at me because i get so nervous.
dont u love it when ur talking to someone after u dropped, and u didnt come up yet. then BAMMM and your like wooooww and start asking people that are with u " ARE U TRIPPIN???"

Your not new to the drug so you know what to expect, when you pop just tell yourself that in 40mins or so none of these thoughts will matter :D.

I often find that if you have tested your beans and know your getting the real deal removed a lot of the worry associated with popping an unknown pill.

Either that or a few beers/drinks/spliff or do something to make you busy so your not sitting thinking when will it work.

Welcome to the threads btw :)

I don't really get anxious feelings myself on the come up - only feelings of excitement for what is about to come :)

I'd suggest simply clearing your mind and putting yourself at a state of ease. Just relax and try not to focus on what's going to happen in 30 minutes and let the drug take you.

Find something to take your mind off of it if you need, some people I know start up a video game and hope online for a little to keep themselves occupied. Others I know simply smoke until it kicks in for them.

A lot of people have suggested that piracetam has removed their anxious feelings on the come up (I'll get some experience links later today, gotta run to my final for now) so if you are really still worried, you could give that a shot.

some anxiety is pretty normal despite people in the thread saying they don't get it. It's not merely anticipation, it's a direct result of the drug, multiplied by anticipation. if you have a panic disorder you might be worried about it sending you over the edge as well.. since 90% of panic is worrying about more panic IME.

unfortunately there's no way to "treat" it (benzos will really reduce the amazing coming up feeling), but you can possibly be reassured by some of the posts that

1) it's not THAT bad (really it's more like the butterflies in your stomach before a test, not The Dread or something that could cause a panic attack)

2) It lasts about 2 minutes (from what I remember)

3) It's the kind of anxiety you can distract yourself from with simple tasks, getting fresh air, smoking a cigarette, drinking a glass of water or trying to have a normal conversation or a hug from a loved one.

The worst thing you could do is take a pill and then spend 20 minutes worrying about panicking when you are about to have the best feeling of your life just afterwards. Luckily, as you can probably tell from the reaction here, the anxiety is way overstated. I have seen people who were very worried by it laugh at how worried they were after, with a face that says "that... was it?" (of course, 2 minutes after that, they were melting into the brilliance)

The duration and intensity of the anxious feelings generally vary from person to person. I agree that it's normal and there are many people that experience it, others can just over look it.

It's safe to take benzos with MDMA, but I wouldn't suggest taking a large dose (if any) as it will reduce the effects.

I dont over look it, I simply dont have any. If you have tested your stuff and your experienced enough with the drug and are in a safe settting why get stressed out/worried?

What is the anxiety based upon?

I agree with what ah rud is saying, it is normal to have some anxiety on the come up. I only roll a few times a year so by the time it comes around I am very excited, coupled with being at a huge event, and being with a bunch of great friends - it gives me a lot of excitement/nervous feelings. Its not that I am afraid of what is going to happen its just the anticipation of what is to come - like butterflies in the stomach x10. Whenever I go to a particular club in toronto I always roll, one time I went there and didnt roll and also got the same butterfly feeling.

Pretty much do what the others have been saying, find somewhere to chill out for a bit whether you are at a club or someone's house. Find something to occupy your mind for a while, listen to music, talk with your friends, find a fun glowstick to play with..etc. Then before you know it you will be feeling amazing

Sorry, that was poor wording on my part. I should have said that some do, some don't.

I think it's based upon the waiting period for the effects to kick in. I'm assuming that people with anxiety will often make situations bigger than they are. IE they have a slight worry for what is going to come. It doesn't have to be a logical reason either.

I know people who are anxious over nothing, I'm guessing dropping a pill and waiting for the effects, especially first timers, have a slight nervous feeling as to what is coming. They could be questioning if it'll be like last time, they aren't 100% sure, there can always be some doubt for unknown reasons.

I get anxious before I roll, but it's a good anxious/excited feeling in my stomach. however, when i start coming up, i start freaking out a bit because it's coming on so hard, but then i start feeling the blissful, beautiful, wonderful, orgasmic, heavenly, loved up feelings. I try telling myself that it will all be better soon which it works to some degree, but not that much. /: Hey, but, I mean that's just me, it might work for you, you never know. What I recommend is to smoke some indica before you pop your rolls. Sativa strains tend to cause anxiety and are more stimulating whereas an indica strain is used to treat anxiety and causes you to chill out.

I agree about the duration and intensity, I've averaged them to get my figure. I know of one person who had an extended reaction which was self-perpetuating to an extent. Because of this, she doesn't take pills anymore, which is wise. Later it emerged that she has an CYP2D6 deficiency when she was treated for an unrelated illness. but that's outside the scope of this thread.

However for the majority of people I think proper anxiety doesn't have time to take root and cause any problems. In addition, once you've experienced it once you are very aware that it is transitory.

Anxiety on the come-up is something I am unfortunately very prone to- I find that trying to medicate it with other drugs or alcohol isn't always the most effective method (or safe), I talk myself down a bit with things like "you're doing drugs, this is what drugs do, everything is fine"...I do find drinking a little bit as my roll kicks in helps a bit. Weed makes me more paranoid and concerned, so I never take that route, but that's just a personal thing.

I've been to the point I've actually left the event/club I was at. I also find that it's especially bad if I extend the come-up by taking small amounts or portions of a pill. Go for the whole pill and you will likely be OK on the come-up. Though it may seem like an odd concept, you can look up bumping (anal delivery method) or insufflating (did I spell that right? :)). These eliminate the "come-up" time for the most part, and you'll be rolling full force in no time.

It's a bit unnerving to feel yourself lose some control of reality, but being that anxiety/panic is an emotional/mental thing, I think that's the best way to handle it. MDMA makes me quite sensitive and open to suggestions in my own mind, and I think being aware of that makes it a bit less frightening. Try not to psych yourself out for a panic attack, just think of how reat it will be when it levels off and you're "rolling". :)

I guess a had a little anxiety the first few times i dropped, especially the first. But what you do is keep your self busy as others have said. I pretty much only drop at raves, so what i do is walk around see some stages and talk with friends until i am starting to really feel it. Than i get a good light show which instantly puts me into my peak. You just have to send your self good vibes no matter how hard it is, tell your self this is a drug that i decided to take because i will like the effects of it. The best rolls are the ones where you don't think about it at all and just go on about, then Bam.

I love those moments of anxiety after you drop. I don't really know though if you could call it anxiety or just nervous anticipation. Maybe for others it's different, but for me I feel like a kid about to go to the fair. I think it's the excitement of knowing what's about to happen, which is usually an epic night. So I just go with it and let it happen.

I had this feeling after a bad roll every time I went to take another pill just because I knew I was taking a risk again. I think it will pass after awhile and it just helps you be careful.

If you are old enough drink some alcohol. Don't get too smashed just get nice and tipsy. You'll be having fun and then all of a sudden... BAM! You're high. It completely takes away the come-up anxiety. I drink a little bit before I take E now every time.
