[Melb] EGA 2010 Psychedelic Symposium Dec 4-5- Rick Doblin headlining – Melb Uni

^ from what I saw everybody was very well-behaved :)

I do believe they are producing a DVD of the event

Yeah they said the DVD would be released next year. It was pretty awesome I won first prize in the raffle so have lots to read and research :) I truely feel like a drug geek after the conference.

Loved every second of this weekend. It was defiantly worth the flight down from Sydney. What a truly inspirational and profound experience to sit in an auditorium filled with like minded people all bringing together their knowledge and experience.
I was lucky enough to pick up 10th prize which was a nice surprise. Cant wait for it to arrive in the mail.
Was also taken back by the feeling of community and acceptance. Everyone was so approachable and easy to talk to. Looking forward to next year with the different venue and just immersing myself in the people.
I am totally converted. As long as EGA keeps running such events, I'll be there.

do people get ejected for being messy in between speakers?

It's really not that kind of event. It's a forum for discussion and sharing of knowledge. On another note, I'm actually quite sure that law enforcement, as well as other professional bodies, are interested in EGA, much like they would monitor BL and similar websites.

Anyhow, another excellent event. EGA crew - congrats and thanks for such a professional and well put together weekend. I look forward to another outdoor adventure next year :)

Sounds like BL owned the raffle... I also won a prize =D So many goodies.

Would some veterans be able to shed some light on the outdoor event? I've heard it's great, but what's it like compared to this year's? Any info appreciated! :) (i.e. how many people, is it camping, what's the structure, how's the atmosphere, etc.)

Haha yeah I know what the event is about, but I do remember a year or two ago they did have some psytrance DJs playing. Do people just stand at the music section there talking about serotonin receptors dressed in suits?

Can you bring meat pies into the venue or do you have to eat tofu and celery

I heard from a good source that the military approached Rick Doblin when it finished, and apparently they were very interested in the MDMA - PTSD study. :)

(thanks Belarki)

Nice; given the suicide rates of US vets it's a good sign that the military is taking PTSD seriously here.

Ohh and also got to sneak in some harm reduction too which was a bonus :P

Props to you if it was what I thought it was (CYP2D6?). In fact, props anyway, from a fellow Sydneysider! Was going to mention the same thing, plus the potential(?) dose/weight relationship.

I saw undercover law enforcement there too. At least that's what the guy's t-shirt said :)

Yeah they were there but everyone was well behaved and I think that would have made a good impression. I thought one guy thought I might have been a cop. I said "good morning" in an attempt to make conversation which it seems isn't something he wanted to do and he just got up and left.

The military and cops were definitely there but I don't think it was an attempt at trying to catch us out doing anything. (maybe the cops but certainly not the military)

I just got home now and am completely exhausted. I am going to sleep for a week.

The experience was totally life changing for me.

I hope this went really really really well for all those involved. :)

There was a certain panel discussion that I would have loved listening. ;)

awesome conference, first EGA... great experience, talked to a few randoms, enjoyed the speakers, talked to a few, all around pretty awesome :D

One thing I was fairly dissapointed with was the RC discussion panel... the guy who started the discussion on the right sounded like he didn't want to be there (sounded angry, talked to the desk...), half the discussion was random irrelevant shite, barely involved 1/2 of the panel, and spent about 90% of the time they actually talked about RC's talking about 4-mmc, which I am sure most people would agree, is one of the least worth-while RC's out there...! ahh well. all around awesome tho, will def check it out in future :D

You mean nano? lol... if he drops by I'm sure he'll address your post.

I don't think you can please everyone and I personally don't remember much discussion about 4-MMC.

^ you guys really wernt that bad, the discussion topic of RC's is a really broad subject to address and given that you only have 50 minutes I'd say you guys did well, also nano_brains random tangents were amusing and somewhat expected given his usual posts here on bluelight :)
