So who has used Tramadol?

Tramadol makes me feel great! Being forced off the vikes and switched to these. At first I was pissed, but now I'm OK with it. They give me energy, pain relief, and euphoria almost as good as vikes. The high also lasts much longer! I know they are risky, but I can't get anymore of the REAL opiates( Tramadol is a synthetic opiate).

If it is synthetic then it is an Opioid. If it is naturally derived then it is an Opiate.

I found tramadol to be one of the worst opiates to be on long term... for analgesia. and doing a bit more of reading i found that there are long term side effects possible. negative effects like for one patient

"The use of tramadol over more than 1 year, as in our patient, eventually may have resulted in a build up of the active metabolite M1 in peripheral tissue sites such as skin, muscles, fat and connecting tissue, which do not participate in the mediation of effects but in fact may act as a reservoir."

from http://www.baillement.com/tramadol-withdrawal.html where they documented a patient on tram long term.... something that made me get off it.

I used to use Tramadol a fair bit (around 200-400mg I think) and usually with some diazepam. I did seem to get alot more out of it than what i've read from alot of other people, but at the same time ended up with alot of negative side effects.

gotta butt in here.... Tram is just a weak op8.
seisure threat included 400 mg is max in one go or evmn ova 24 hrs when used properly. though i wouldnt advise 400mg in this situation went thru this b4 ithink.. sweet point IMO would be 200 mg.
aint gonna do any harm and if ya dun get teh buzz off it then drop the shit.
simple.:\

I have just started on the Tramadol 100mg SR tabs for migraine headaches...how ever I can't see why this med has to be a Prescription only drug...Tramadol isn't as addictive as Panadeine forte though in my opinion.

Are you on the 100mg SR tabs Songbird?...I take one of these and last for up to 12 hours.
Also they make me feel happy...an extra bonus.

Tramadol becomes habit forming for me. It's great for moderate pain though.

I scored another Tram script from my GP today and no questions asked. My GP explained that Tramadol isn't addictive if taken as prescribed.

I'd say your Doctor is talking about physical addiction. The issue I found is psychological addiction.

tramadol is most definitely physically addictive. i've gone through quite a few withdrawals over the last 6 1/2 years using them.

now that i don't abuse them very often and sticking to my daily dose the initial withdrawals are a lot lighter than ever. i still have a psychological crave for them but that's worn some since the mood stability tramadol used to provide me with is almost non-existent until higher doses i don't need to be using.

Can I have another script

I'm just wondering if any of you here, has trouble obtaining a script for Tramadol from their Doctor...the SR and the ordinary tabs. My GP doesn't think that Tramadol is addictive...therefore, I can obtain unlimited supply...how ever, I don't take them for recreational usage (to get a high) and are not addictive or habit forming as panadeine forte.

+1 I had physical WDs from tramadol, described it/them in a post, possibly this thread? Happened 2 or 3 Xmas' ago, I was definitely on them on the prescribed BD daily and went to go off them at Xmas for some "meth night" on NYE and WDs were BAAAAD. Only WDs I can say I've ever physically/mentally developed, even on a *shiteload* of oxycontin, several hundred MG daily, 1-3 doses a day, an old GP was illegally giving me 80mg boxes like they were going out of fashion, in my early days of my injury, I stopped for a while *instantly* and no WDs, though, I was still on 1 to 2 200mgSR doses of tramadol daily so that might have been why I had no 'real' WDs from the huge oxycontin use to zero, literally for a few weeks until I went in for surgery then needed them again.

Still, tramadol can give WDs from prescribed doses, here's a couple cases of it happening in this and leftwing's post.

The doctors (GPs and specialists I've seen for my nerve damage) all were "throwing" tramadol scripts at me due to them all saying "Not addictive *blah blah* Don't use oxycontin, it's the devil's drug etc*

Also my GP gave me 6 months of tramadol prescription last week or two when I last went to my GP for my monthly oxycontin scripts (he gave me 9 months of lyrica a few months ago, and 6 months of tramadol scripts/repeats as said). The 6 months was given via authority as well, so it's "legal" to give it no worries

Oxycontin stronger then Tramadol

Hi Wazza...just wondering what is Oxycontin exactly, as I have never heard of this drug before and is it available to purchase in Australia?

oxycontin is time released oxycodone, a potent synthesized opioid. it's used for chronic pain management in most cases; it's very addictive and habit forming.

i've had a lot of doctors throw tramadol at me telling me it's addictive, while a few others (very much in the minority) have said it's not habit forming. i'm lucky to have found a doctor who isn't an opiophobe and gives me the oxy as well.

Tramadol did nothing for me recreationally, really helped the pain when i stacked my motorbike though, but it wasn't euphoric like an opiate.

Although it may have been placebo, what do you think leftwing im not so sure if the drug worked on me?

What dosage Tramadol did you have, and what is/was the weight you had when taking tramadol.

As I've stated, for my mbike off in '06, tramadol gave me a "little high" on the very first dose but all subsequent doses since then (most days out of the 4.5years) give no euphoria but it's been great for me for pain relieving, I'd say more so than oxycontin (on a relative basis)
