Over the summer, Mexican government officials began briefing reporters about the cocaine war destabilising the Latin American state. Much of their ire was directed north across the border, towards the country with the highest number of cocaine users in the world. Now Mexico's counter-narcotics officials can no longer blame the US for having the planet's worst cocaine problem. Britain's inexorable appetite for the Class A substance last week, perhaps inevitably, finally outstripped America's.

Confirmation that the UK has moved to the summit of the European and US "league table" for cocaine use follows analysis by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, which reports that 6.2% of Britons between the ages of 15 to 34 said they had used cocaine in the last year. This compares with 4.5% of Americans – the second biggest users – in the same age group. Almost 15% of all young Britons have tried the drug at least once.

If cocaine use has increased and prices have fallen it's because the quality and purity of the drug has diminished massively over the past 5-10 years.

It's "crossed class barriers" and is available for "£1 a line" because the purity is probably 10%. So you get loads of wannabes thinking they're the shit because they do a bit of coke…
 
Coke is going to shit across the board not just in Britain. Ive noticed a huge differance just over the last 5 years to the point where I wont even do it if its free.

I hear ya. Last decent stuff I saw was 2004 in Ibiza…

…and, like you, nowadays I won't touch it because I know it won't be coke and I know I won't enjoy it.
 
How do I join the "world drug use league"?

Kinda sounds like a group of world class super hero drug addicts.
 
hate kids in the UK that think they are the dogs bollocks because they spend their pocket money on coke. And get well arsey when i tell them it wont be coke. But yeah this world drug use league sounds like a fun club.
 
I've only seen "decent" cocaine by UK standards a few times, though I was offered a gram for £50 at a party once, tried a dab.. I'll give it to them though, was a lovely gram of benzocain.
 
There was tons of good shit back in 05, sense then i've gotten good shit probably once a year until 2009, the whole time only getting it when it was good. Cant stand cut shit, makes me anxious.

Anyone think things will ever change back to how they were?
 
i hope we return to good standards, i'd like to try some more drugs- good quality drugs. Hopefully not get to into them though, but just enough so I don't regret or feel like i missed out.
 
It's all about who you know. It really is.

I personally find it just as tiresome people saying "No there's no good coke, everything you see will be 10% pure, it'll be all benzocaine" as I do seeing people say "This shit's the best coke you'll ever get unless you go to Columbia mate, it's like 93% pure tested in a lab".

Simple fact is, you'll just never know.

If you're driving a car back once a month from Spain that's stuffed with 10 kilo's of coke destined for a lithuanian gent in London that's very well connected, you might just have access to better coke than the kind of people that get a gram at a time from their mate that gets a quarter at a time, from his mate that gets an ounce at a time, from his mate that gets a half bar at a time, from his mate that gets a bar at a time, from his mate that gets a kilo in from the docks every now and again.

Like I say, it's about who you know.
 
^^^ True , I don';t mess with coke much anymore,but here in the US, in Memphis,TN. the quality of "street coke " rises and falls, but with good connects, I have been able to always get really good cocaine for cheap. It is all in who I know like the above poster said.
Still I think that with a lotta cocaine being shipped through Memphis from West Coast to East Coast, etc via Interstate Highways and all that we get more cocaine locally than other similar sized citys = about 670,000+ approx. in the city of Memphis.

The more hands it goes through the more it is cut typically, so I agree with the aboe posters comments, since it is true, in general.

Isn't this underplaying the effects of cocaine a bit? I mean, I know most articles and websites do this so as not to encourage drug use (talk to frank is a case in point) but just describing the only effect as feeling SUCCESFUL?? Who's going to believe that cocaine, with its image and status just makes you feel succesful?

People saying they havent seen nice coke for years?? As a guy explained up top its about who you know.

Everyone who buys "coke" and does "coke" and buys it for £30 a gram lol wut? for £30 a gram it is NOT coke its about 95% bashed 5-15% coke at the most.

Coke around here is quite available because its quite an affluent area, a gram of good coke depends on what kind of quality you want. £50 for alright stuff, then goes up from £70 a g which is nicer and the notorious £100g which is very nice stuff.

There is ALOT of nice cocaine about, your just going to have to fork out a little more to get it, which alot of peope are not willing to do but there is a market for it a gram of £100 stuff will last like 4 people all night, but they would rather get a gram of £30 stuff for themselves and sniff copious amounts of benzocaine.

Like people say to my they even say it themselves, some £30 shite you can have or you can have some £80 stuff that will blow your head off, the idiots always make the wrong decisions

I don't know what kind of magical coke you are talking about. A gram of 100% isn't going to last 4 decent users all night.

1/4g per head for an entire night? please.
 
Of course it's about who you know. But that sorta misses the point.

Time was, you could go to your man and get a selection of average to good quality wares. Whatever your drink. You didn't need to be banging the don's daughter to get a good high. Quality on the street, where most money is spent, is shite. Plain and simple.

I reckon supply cannot be scaled up like in legal markets. Demand rises so quality has to drop. It means we've passed peak-drug.
