Hi, just want to ask this question. Just say someone has a small garden of poppies they've seen, i.e http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/1653/img5482b.jpg, it's been lanced a couple times or so, how would they be harvested to make tea. As far as I know, people say cut about 5-6inches of stem and pods, dry them together kind of like how dope can be dried, "naturally" hung up in a shed somewhere for anywhere from 1-3 weeks. Then grind them VERY finely, put amount into tea bags and make some tea to enjoy?
With this method, I am just wondering, is it good or bad to have the plants lanced for the latex? And if it's ok to not bad, is 1-3 lancings ok? *And* (heh) should they be cut down immediately following the final lancing or give them 3-5 days in between as "per usual" with lances? Or should they not be lanced at all if possible if being harvested for tea?
Cheers, I really haven't seen this answered anywhere and just seeing if people have thoughts on this? Or would it be better moved to somewhere else? Do AusDD peeps at all have 'intimate' knowledge on lancing poppies and/or making tea with them, excluding using the "poppy seeds in water" method to make tea? Sorry if my lack of research is showing, 'tis a bit hard to find LOTS of time, I'm taking care of my 13 month old daughter
and pregnant wife with our final child (if born, 2 is enough! hehe). [snip]
Thanks for anyone helping!!!
