Grinders?

So i'm going to be getting my first vape here soon and, unless I get an herbalaire, I will need a grinder to go with it. Space Cases are the top of the line but they're so much more expensive than other brands. Space case also appears to be the only brand with a Ti model.

Does the metal/alloy used in a grinder make much of a difference?

The only grinder I ever had was a cheap plastic one that broke when I was grinding up some low grade hard compressed shit that I was trying to cook with.

Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to spring for a nice grinder vs a cheap/off-brand one.

I have a "Diamond Grind" myself and love it. I suppose SpaceCase is the "best of the best", but I think "Sharpstones" are probably the best overall value, they aren't quite as expensive as a SpaceCase and IMO just as good.

scissors and a shot glass are just as effective and cost friendly......

i have a sharpstone 4 piece. sharpstone also carries a titanium plated version...

I've been using a duralum grinder with multiple chambers for kieff made somewhere in India for a year.

(I would rather recommend to use grinders that have the least amount of edges and "hidden" spaces like the ones that are hard to clean and get the kieff from, like between a screen and whatever the chamber is made from in a specific case.. Wood should work the best imho. Solid, easy to clean, no metal scraps in your pot and if you really need kieff then there are better methods for extracting it without using those lousy multiple screens on some metal grinders...)

Ahem.. Then I got fed up with cleaning its screens and all the extra useless paraphernalia I had laying around so I threw it way.. From now on I dismantle the buds with my own fingas, baby :D

^that's what i've always done. its just with a vape i figure it would be useful. I just don't see how there could be much variation in design other than the type of metal used. I mean the concept is pretty simple.

but anywho is there any reason to get a titanium one over an aluminum one?

I own a volcano vape and have owned one forever. I recommend using a grinder that DOES NOT have a kieff catcher. What is the point of having less THC on your weed when you smoke it through a vape?

I personally have multiple grinders, I use the metal ones with the catcher to grind bowls for pipes/etc. I use a plastic grinder with no chambers period (its just two circles with teeth, basically) and could not be happier. Just make sure you get a plastic grinder that will grind your product into a FINE powder.

Hope this helps,
Noah

P.S. I stopped smoking vape a while ago for the sole reason that the volcano is relatively inefficient. My recommendation with vape: BUY THE SHITTIEST, CHEAPEST, BUD! It all tastes the same in a vape and will get you more high per dollar :-)

couldn't agree more......

i got a sharp stone cause it was half the price as a space case.... same grinder, just a little less detail....it yields amazing....

i highly recommend buying a sharp stone

also... definitely get a 4 piece grinder....it would be 5 with the actual screen.....

i have a titanium spacecase and god do i love it, that sweet sweet powdery herb it produces. get a sc, you won't regret it.

i have a little metal grinder i picked up at a headshop for like 6 bucks, it has served me well so far. idk about a name of brand or anything, there isn't one at it all, just a picture of a Taijitu on top

once u've used a grinder, u never go back to snipping (unless no grinder avail) that said, the cheaper 2 piece grinders are ok, but the mid range grinders are the way to go.. check ebay, look to spend anywhere in the 20-25 dollar range.. should serve u well.. my 2.5" 4 piece chromium crusher works great.. and if u are a kief collector, keep a coin on the screen. (look up kief coin trick) or tips..

a tiny little paint brush or modified toothbrush works wonders for getting every last crystal fragment out of a metal grinder with "hidden" spaces. I agree anything more than one screen is excessive . I use a brush that came with a coffee grinder to get out the grounds, its perfect.

Also the brush makes getting all of the keif out of the bottom easy as well. it keeps your grinder clean so you collect more .

i have never had to clean my screen ,I just brush it a bit every once in a while. i have had my grinder for two years using it multiple times daily.

you are definitely losing more on your fingers than you would in a grinder, because whats lost in a grinder is recoverable.

I've also been using an off-brand metal one (no markings), and it's served me just fine. Be sure you get the 4-piece ones though (top, middle part with teeth and holes, area for weed storage with screen on bottom, and bottom part for kief). The ones that have the two middle parts combined get clogged like nobody's buisness, and the 2-part ones don't give you keif catcher, so it seems to sort of be defeating one of the best parts about a grinder (the availability of kief for making hash or adding to bowls)

I'm not sure why one would go to effort to clean a grinder except when decomissioning. Otherwise, just chill out. So there's keif stuck to it. As long as you don't clean the grinder, you'll never lose significant amounts of keif to it. Just keep running weed through it, some more keif will get stuck, and some of the keif on it will get knocked off, and you'll break even.

You lose only what gets stuck between the threads - when you're finally done with the grinder, just wash it in iso once you've gotten off all that can be easilly removed through physical methods, and evap to yield a tiny bit of iso hash.

I have a free plastic grinder from my volcano, and that thing suuuuucks balls compared to my metal one! I spent $40 on it a couple years ago, grinder top pops off, you grind your weed and then then there is a silk screen and a bottom keif catcher. It is Perfect. I have tried other ones my friends have that has the extra middle piece so once you grind it, it disappears into the middle, but I find it more money and not necessary. It is also more bulky.

I love my grinder. Go metal

my grinder (where it falls down into the middle (4 piece)) is so amazing...

i would not have it any other way.....you can make sure everything is busted....and continue to yield while the busted bud remains on the screen......

well I had a 4 piece sharpstone for about 2 yrs...the first year was good but kief production was low..after a while it became not so sharp and bits of metal were coming off and a broken tooth! Just replaced it with a mendo mulcher for $40 bucks of eBay.. It has twice as many teeth, a 190 micron screen, 4 piece airplane grade aluminum, and the kief chamber is much smoother than the sharpstone making it easy to collect that kief.
i've read that they are as high quality and long lasting as space case but like half as much...so far its been awesome!
