Seroquel should knock out a first time user who's taking it for insomnia. There have been reports though that tolerance to the sedative effects of Seroquel increases with continued use. I myself took Seroquel for 3 months back in 2005 to help me sleep as my shrink at the time didn't want to prescribe me benzos or z-drugs. From what I remember, I ended up having to increase my dosage from 25mg taken once at bedtime to 100mg taken once at bedtime to be able to fall and stay asleep. I hated the morning after feeling. I remember trying to take a shower one morning after taking Seroquel to help me sleep and I felt like a vegetable (couldn't smile, laugh, cry, yell, etc.). Completely apathetic.
