Real raves (for clarification in the USA "rave" refers to giant commerical shitfests)

I used to listen to gabba back when I was 12, thankfully I grew out of it. Haven't you yet?

am now more of a uk breakcore-influenced gabba girl

My taste in music has been getting harder over the past couple of years. Started listening to a bit of breakcore, struggling to get into it. It seems that when i hear it out at parties i like it a lot more, although that could be down to the combination of many drugs.

i love breakcore, i but i do know what you mean. can't beat 4/4 gabba kicks. my current faves are dolphin/producer/igor/teknoist/speed freak etc etc.. straying into frenchcore and hardtek. i could go on but i won't :)

I can't allow myself to like teknoist anymore. He pretended to have Cancer, and people believed him. He's dark.

yeah, he's a dick, fucked over some people i know. still like his music though, its not even all that amazingly well done but there's something about it i really enjoy. its a tricky one..

Ill leave it lol, i am a bit hypocritical because I have been into Gabba/Breakcore and have had wicked times seeing the wrong music lot, hellfish, rotator, dolphin & teknoist, panacea etc still enjoy it sometimes but I need to be on one. I have also massivley dismissed house (and am still snobbish about plenty of other genres that I probably will never approach, psytrance for example) but it is the birthplace of electornic music, still doesnt mean you should enjoy it or even listen to it!

I am fucking 41 and I can assure you 20 year olds that in 20 years 99% of you not going to be listening most of those genres you mentioned (and I honestly don't even know what half of them are).

But, all over the world, old farts like me still are getting down to house, mostly the deep kind. I know it may not seem 'cool' to think of partying with a bunch of cats over 40, but I tell you, it is pretty cool for us not to have settled to a boring life of staying home and listening to Cliff Richards albums.

One thing time teaches, is that those who tell others 'this or that type of music sucks'....they don't know shit about music. Because if it touches just one person, its good music.

Everyone knows that there really are only 2 kinds of music anyway, Country and Western (and if you don't get that joke, download thee Blues Brothers straight away).

blimey, i regret looking in this dark hatefest of a thread.

The lines are so blurred between the sub genres of dance/electronic/popular music these days i don't think many people can truly say they 'hate' any one sub genre of electronic music.

I would say electronic music is comparable to classical music in many ways and it also touches people in the same way

I reckon you can compare a lot of stuff to classical. Metallica are a good example. They did an album with an orchestra, and it works brilliantly. I don't think we'd have any music without classical.

Gabba/Breakcore/Speedcore
Its all a bit much for me

Get yourselves to Nature One in Germany, you'll have a wild time, it's a cracking festival for the harder sounds, and its full of dutchmen *winks* if you know what I mean, aaaaaaaaaaye

Or Gabba. :p

spade the closest you've been to a "rave" is you and a couple of your mates in your mams house "rolling face" getting sweaty to some ministry of sound compilations, you don't get electronic music at all. the styles of music being talked about were not about when you were 12 and you've never heard them, you fail at everything.
