Real raves (for clarification in the USA "rave" refers to giant commerical shitfests)

thought this would be the place to ask.. anyone know of where to find a good time in cambridge (england)? moving down there and the clubs are a little small... warning at junction is good but anything else?

The Fez used to have some good lineups on Thursdays.
Sams House in Norwich is not too far away.
The night train to London may be your best bet, makes it more of an effort.
Cambridge is one of the most boring places in Britain imo.
Very pretty, nice in the summer, but I found it dull.

life4land/uprizing are decent crews in the area at least a semi decent free party scene during summer but not sure about anything else

that sounds pretty good but i have no idea how to find out where they are because i dont know anyone who knows i guess

^ they're on myspace...

might be an idea to check that out and drop them a message, or do some detective work, find out what nights they're affiliated with or djs/acts that play at their parties, go along and introduce yourself etc etc.

cheers jancrow thats a really good idea. ive had a scout and uprizing are gonna be at qclub in october so definitely got to make my way down there.

blau a lot of the things u hear about are student affiliated when im sure thats only such a small section of whats on offer. any details?

that uprizing night looks decent, they'll no doubt be flyers for similar events at this one, there is an underground scene in cambridge it's just not huge, there's a psytrance night as well which I can't recall the name for. Get talking to people etc at events like that uprizing night Scion plays free parties etc so it's likely the type of people you need to meet will be at this kind of night :).

Well it seems my interpretation of what happened prior to the Summer of Love (+/- 3-4 years) is wrong. After some hefty discussions with some more unbiased friends...

Though I fully support everything else I have stated in this thread.

Of course you do, you know nothing about EDM. Please go back and re-look at Timmy REgisford. If you are able to understand your complete disrespect of a legend, then you are the path to learning.

I thought it was a refreshingly honest act that he did admit he was wrong - would you have done the same? honestly? few wHould. It also tells me more about his character than him 'being right'. Maybe being a little nicer about it would encourage more people to act like this.

What choice did he have? He kept saying the sun was shining at 10PM at night, and when finally his mom showed him the sky, he had to retract it.

But he had to qualify it by saying he was other wise correct, lol.

BTW, this cut to the quick of what I said before. The innovators of this music (mostly black Americans) get sick and tired of white Europeans lecturing them on the origins of of house and techno. Which is why I brought it up in the fist place

If you really want to learn about this music, go to the deephousepage, join up and don't post for six months, just read. People like Marshall, LLR and others that were there AT THE BEGINNING are there throwing down education. Its fascinating.

And to those that can't understand why its important where this music came from....well maybe its not too you. But for many who consider this music to be more than a scene, but for some their profession, its damn important. Cause if you don't know where you came from, you don't know the music.

House was born of struggle, which is why it is so uplifting, imho.

To me house music (and all its derivations) is perfect. House music represents joy and life and happiness, it is the purest embodiment of positivity. There is no negativity in house. The innovators put their hearts and souls their personalities into the music they were creating and its beautiful. I doubt they had any idea what they were unleashing onto the world. Its a great contribution to your modern history, for all the negative aspects one can summon up when they think of modern America, and there are a few lets be honest, house is an antidote to all of it, it is a conduit of positivity, created by a bunch of gospel worshipping black americans who loved life and used that medium to express it.

Its also great to dance to on acid or ecstasy :D

Your posts in this thread are awesome and if you are in Amsterdam, let me know and we can house it (during those rare times I can find a good vibe here).

peace
