The Big & Dandy Music on Psychedelics Thread (Track #1)

Oh man, HAHA... did you ever bring back memories! I remember some of my earliest days as a tripper frying my brains out to this.

Seems disturbing and bizarre at first, but there are some utterly brilliant parts to this, some heady floating atmospheres, and sudden, heartbreaking, ecstatic changes of chord, mood and tempo. So weird but also quite sublime... it's almost a psychoactive substance in and of itself.

Thanks for the reminder... I need to find this somewhere to download in digital format and listen to it again... on something strong, for old times sake!

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Renaldo_and_the_Loaf
"In 2006 upon the launch of the new Renaldo & the Loaf web site, the duo were reunited for the first time in the better part of two decades."

Which is http://renaldoloaf.turkeyworld.org/

Gonna have to look into this!

I prefer more chilled stuff than shpongle while tripping.. the Beatles, the doors, hendrix, floyd, gong etc. As well as Tool, incubus, the flashbulb, n even Battles sometimes.

If you're into psytrance/ambient type shit you might like Ott - blumenkraft. Its best described as 'psydub'.

shpongle is seriously overrated for tripping.

anyway, boards of canada, tim hecker, my bloody valentine, or slowdive do the trick for me.
seriously, check these guys out if you haven't.

This is absolutely fantastic. I bought the original Woodstock disc last week and discovered this beautiful song:

Crosby, Stills & Nash - Wooden Ships

Stills: If you smile at me, I will understand
'Cause that is something everybody everywhere does
in the same language.
Crosby: I can see by your coat, my friend,
you're from the other side,
There's just one thing I got to know,
Can you tell me please, who won?
Stills: Say, can I have some of your purple berries?
Crosby: Yes, I've been eating them for six or seven weeks now,
haven't got sick once.
Stills: Probably keep us both alive.

Wooden ships on the water, very free and easy,
Easy, you know the way it's supposed to be,
Silver people on the shoreline, let us be,
Talkin' 'bout very free and easy...
Horror grips us as we watch you die,
All we can do is echo your anguished cries,
Stare as all human feelings die,
We are leaving - you don't need us.

Go, take your sister then, by the hand,
lead her away from this foreign land,
Far away, where we might laugh again,
We are leaving - you don't need us.

And it's a fair wind, blowin' warm,
Out of the south over my shoulder,
Guess I'll set a course and go...

Floyd
gong
osric tentacles
hawkwind
there is probably others but cant think of them right now
even a bit of dance music

In my opinion, there is absolutely NO competition when it comes down to the best songs for tripping, as well as rolling. Everyone I've ever showed these songs to has absolutely loved them, and they are both absolutely bliss inducing and wonderfully upbeat. May result in tears.

Song 1

Song 2

I just want to say i had never expierienced this type of music before on lsd. I really didnt love it before. I down loaded these two tracks plus a few other suggestions from my friend that really is into this type of music and it was an absolutly amazing expierience. It was a truely amazing feeling. It really can take control of u it is extreamly powerful and increadable. I cant stress enough how awsome it was. Its one of those things u cant explain with words.

This song KrYLon by Aut ech re has so many overlapping sounds and lush textures. I'd pick up on the sheer complexity easier with acid but now i can hear its subtle beauty

Or with a less subtle contrast i love Telephasic workshop by BoC The choppy vocal samples that become more prominent at the end and actually turn into a part of the percussive beat
