I have eaten San Pedro (Thrichocerius pachanoi) # times now. Each time I have eaten 1 foot of a fat branch. Except for the last time where I ate 1 1/2 ft. or 18" inches of fat diameter cactus. Even at this high dose I seem to only get minimal effects. Has anyone else had this problem. What is the highest dose of San Pedro you've taken Thanks:)

I am under the impression that boiling a tea works much better.

I assume you cactus is live, not dried?

I only tried san pedro once, it was a disaster. I ate about 40 grams of dried skins from a reliable vendor, (in capsules), kept it down for 2 hours, then vomited quite unpleasantly, and saw that most of the capsules had indeed broken open. After vomiting I was *possibly* in an altered state, but since it was so negligible, I chalked it up to a wishful placebo.

I will be trying a tea next time with live san pedro, (I found a head shop downtown that sells cheap live san pedro.... well 30$ for about a foot.)

Yes I usually eat it live. It may not have been placebo in your case as mescaline is sorta mild. I know it would be easier to boil it down to concentrate but I don't wany mess with its potency as Mescaline can be degraded by too much heat or light. THANKS

Making tea won't degrade potency, as least in any significant amount. In it's traditional usage, native americans always make the tea. DON'T boil it. You want to simmer it, very lightly and slowly bubbling, for at least four hours.

Thanks...one problem is that I tend to get inpatient during the whole skinning or peeling thing and leave the film on the cactus and swallow chunks of it like that. Maybe I should be more patient and skin the cactus LOL(major fuckin no brainer)

Careful if you do skin it, the highest concentration of mescaline is in the tissue just under the skin.

try making tea, use a pressure cooker for best results then boil it down in a wide pan/pot. You dose all at one with a shot of tea, eating it probably takes a couple hours if not more so the effects are probably spread out (no peak)

Also mescaline content can vary greatly from cactus to cactus. I've never tried cooking it because I'm very weary of destroying any of the mescaline. If you go that route definitely dont let it boil too hard.

You could also try some dried skins (which is the only form I've ever had). I was never disapointed with 28+g of San Pedro or Peruvian Torch.

Thanks this has been helpful. I have a San Pedro session coming by the end of summer. I have access to a really good cacxtus. After awhile you sorta fall in love w/ them. Otherwise I would have started stressing it with less water by now.

A timely thread, for me at least. First time with cacti, though well versed in the ways of the mushroom and LSD as it was back in the late '80s ( In the U.K. at least? ) . . .

I'm currently 3 hours in to a tea made from 800g ( 18 inches long by 2.5 inches wide ) of Peruvian Torch. I think I did everything right . . . . blitzed it in a blender on wednesday night til I had around a litre of foamy, gluey snot, froze it overnight and gave it the odd run through with a fork so the ice crystals had an 'alf decent chance to pop those juicy little cells, defrosted it, then simmered gently over a 5 hour period in around 4 litres of water with a splash of lemon till i had around half a litre of brew. Drank aforesaid brew over an hour long period starting around 3 and a half hours ago.

So far . . . I have vague visual disturbances, just at the periphery of things, with a very slight enhancement of colour and shade I guess, but nothing more than that. Music is perhaps ever so slightly enhanced, but that might be down to the SRS Audio? :? Vague nausea began around an hour after taking it, but nothing that couldn't be cured quite easily with a little running water over the wrists and a cold compress to the back of the neck. I have a pronounced all-over tingle, and a slight numbness in my hands. Very sweaty palms as I type. Every 5 minutes or so I get massive waves / rushes coursing upwards through my entire body that take my breath away, and require a still, calm moment of serious breath control, and when that happens it seems like I'm gonna break through into a full-on trip at any moment, but then it's been feeling like that the last couple of hours, and I'm thinking that's as far as I'm going tonight.

I shall let you all know if anything changes, but I'm not sure even the notoriously slow mescaline can take over 3 hours to come up, can it? :?

[in edit some hours later]No change to speak of really, and apparently not. That was about as good as it got? :( [/in edit some hours later]
