The Deep thread

svek was one of my favourite deep house labels from sweden, these guys know how to make really deep music. The vocals and music in this track are A+

Sunday Brunch - Midsummer Night (Original Mix)

short but sweet still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end and get chills down my spine when that vocal drops into the rolling bassline @ 4:00

brilliant thread! i've gained so much musical knowledge :)

here's some stuff i found while perusing the internets (i had to upload the second one - can't believe no-one's put it on youtube yet!):

the black dog - riphead v9

the black dog - mental ward sleep machine

manik - park to the slope

prostitune - money nugget

swayzak / theorem - day from hell

theo parrish paradise architects

galaxy2galaxy - timeline

alexander kowalski - all i got to know

pretty much all vince watson (his 'moments in time' lp is incredible!)

mystic rhythm

out of the deep

i'll post some more when i think of them!

Man that's some seriously high-quality deep house and techno!!! I loved 'em all, but my favourites would have to be the first Black Dog track (for sheer atmosphere), the Prostitune track (absolutely gorgeous!!!), the Kowalski track (deep and sexy, but pretty bangin' at the same time - a real late-night anthem!!!), and of course the Vince Watson tracks (the guy practically owns the word 'deep'!!!).

:)

This track has since been remixed by the artist, but I still like this version more.

"Can I get a dime sack?"

<3

Oh man what a track!!! - deep, driving piano-house, with that beautiful naive synth melody on top. Definitely one of the best tracks I've heard this year!!!!

Absolutely lovin those Hood tracks!!! - a bit more uptempo than most of the stuff in this thread, but sooooo sooooooooo good!!!!!! I think this thread needs more Robert Hood!!!!!

That's some real purist tech-house - right up my street!!! I really must go to Fabric soon in order to hear this kind of stuff the way it should be heard :)

I think it might be time for me to do another Top 10 :) But who shall I do? - Underworld? Kraftwerk? Alex Smoke? Funk D'Void?

Nice!

...sorry that Killahurtz track was abruptly cut off at the 10:00 mark.

LMFAO. You gotta love the way prog house tracks are always so long - it allows DJs like John Digweed to mix in a track, then do nothing for 8 minutes, before mixing in the next track :)

Right, I've decided that my next top 10 is gonna be Alex Smoke. Enjoy!

(in no particular order)

Alex Smoke - Chica Wappa (this is possibly the best EDM track ever made, although unfortunately the sound quality in this youtube clip isn't great. When I met Alex Smoke in 2007 and asked him why he didn't play it, he told me that he didn't like it anymore, and that he thought it was cheesy. OMFG!!!!!)

Alex Smoke - Brian's Lung (a seriously evil slice of minimal, featuring the best use of rave synths since the early-90s)

Funk D'Void - Way Up High (Alex Smoke's String mix) (emotional string techno, but with Alex Smoke's own unique groove)

Junior Boys - In The Morning (Alex Smoke remix) (a gorgeous slice of downtempo electronica. The Junior Boys vocal works perfectly with Alex Smoke's understated production)

Alex Smoke - Never Want To See You Again (probably the most accessible track from his 'Paradolia' album. I love all the little squeaks and bleeps - they still keep me interested even after I've listened to the track for the 100th time :) )

Alex Smoke - Don't See The Point (trademark Alex Smoke vocals combined with haunting synths makes for one of the most beautiful minimal tracks ever made!!!)

Alex Smoke - Don't See The Point (Alex Smoke's 'Pointless' mix) (absolute genius!!!! - I love the way it starts off all laid-back and innocent, and then becomes really fucked-up and intense at the end :) )

Alex Smoke - Anima (I love the melodies in this - really interesting, really unusual, and really beautiful)

Alex Smoke - A Moment To Myself (a really rich, warm ambient track)

Alex Smoke - Lux+ (I like it because it's weird :) )
