I rented this from lovefilm thinking it was the new Roman Polanksi film The Ghost. Got the names mixed up, Been watching it for an hour and wondering why none of the main characters had shown up and why it appeared to be about nothing like the clips had shown. Watching the wrong film. :|

The Ghost Writer is bad, the main actor Allan Cumming is incredibly annoying. I can't watch it anymore.

Might be mixed up here mate. The Ghost Writer I watched was the new Polanksi film with Ewan McGregor.
 
Yeah I watched 'Ghost Writer' starring Allan Cummings, the twat that he is. The Polanski one is called 'The Ghost' with Ewan McGregor and Peirce Brosnon and is the one I wanted to watch.

This one is the one I wish I'd seen...

Blue Velvet!

Tied for my #1 fave with Fight Club. Just a dark and deranged, very original film. Innocent Johnny-All-American type kid peers into a dark underworld of depravity and gets in way deeper than he expected. For me the whole movie is a great metaphor for life.

Antichrist!

Just...watch...it.

Unlike any other movie i've ever seen, explores the depths of human emotion, takes a woman who is probably about a 6 and makes her into an 11. Just a sexy, horrible, beautiful mess really.
 
Blue Velvet is a quality film. Antitchrist sounds fucking awful. Pretentious bullshit with some genital mutilation flung in for the shock value to draw a crowd. That Von Trier guy is a fanny. I can remember seeing something decent by him ages ago but can't remember what it was, what I can remember is a film called The Idiots or something like that where all the people in it basically pretend to be retarded & shag each other. Biggest pile of shite ever

You're totally wrong. Anti Christ is a good film with a solid story and it's very well done. Aye it's brutal but the genital mutilation scene fits in well, it's the hardcore sex scene at the start that you could criticise if anything. The Idiots is a decent film like, part of the Dogme series of films, continous filming, no cuts, one take of each scene etc. It's an interesting way to make a film.

Do you remeber a show called "High Life" that had him it? It was ace as far as i can remember.


Anyway, there's a film i love called The Rocker which i have watched numerous times latley.

Aye I can't really say much about Antichrist as I've never seen it & don't really have any intention of watching it any time soon. I'm just going on what I've heard/read about it. It just seemed to either be totally wanked over by folk who would probably say a movie was amazing if Lars Von Trier filmed 2 flies buzzing around a shite for 90 minutes. Then I'd occasionally read what seemed like a more genuine review which would basically say it is pretentious guff but as I said, I've not seen it so can't say for certain.

The Idiots is not a decent film at all. It is total shite, doesn't matter if there's no cuts or it's interesting film making etc, it's fucking rubbish.

I also thought that Ewan McGregor & Pierce Brosnan effort was called The Ghost Writer. I'm sure there was posters where it was called that.

I think I might watch Predators tonight. Guaranteed to be crap but should at least be entertaining. It's either that or Toy Story 3 lol.

Toy story 3 is going to have to be watched by me sometime lol.you can't just watch one, you have to watch them all lol.

Why don't you just watch it and see what you think? I didn't even know who directed it or who Lars Von Trier is so couldn't give a fuck about that. It's just a bloody good, weird, strange, brutal and interesting film.

The Idiots is a stupid film but it's a decent watch.

Dunno what the story with the Paedo Polanski film is, defo thought it was called Ghost Writer too.

Think Predators and Toy Story 3 are more on your level mate. Enjoy. ;)
