Young girls dies after attending a Rave in L.A.

It wasn't all bad!

I went with my girlfriend and a good friend of ours on Friday. We knew what we were doing, had a plan, and executed it flawlessly.

And had a hell of a good time!

COME ON GUYS! We've all been teenagers before, we all know it is possible to sneak around and do things behind their backs. She probably told her parents she was sleeping over at a friends house or something. The rave was 16+, she was 15, would a few months really have made that much of a difference? Uhhh no.

Yeah guys, come one. Blaming her parents is BS. She was 15, big deal, since as you say, 16 is just around the corner- there isn't a HUGE difference there- 16 year olds are just as inexperienced. Hell, I've seen 20 year olds do dumber things. I never understand the arbitrary 16 year old entry- if you're going to make a minimum age, 18 is at least a little better.

She could have 100% lied to her parents and now they are saying they knew where she was so they don't look bad. Be real, I'm sure everyone on here snuck to places they weren't supposed to be when they were younger- how would that be their, or your, parent's fault? And if they did know, do you really think they knew what the event really was? Doubtful. If they trusted their daughter, and she was with friends, and she told them she was going to dance somewhere and played it down, they surely wouldn't expect it to be a party as large as this, with that many drugs going around. Lots of parent are ignorant to what really goes on.

So, in short, leave the parents alone, raising a teenager is hard enough. They go against their parents often, or lie about where they are or what the events are they are attending, all the time. The only way to control that would be to keep kids under lock and key- but that's ineffective and just creates maladjusted adults. I've got a close friend with a 17 year old daughter, her and her husband are amazing parents- top notch- but the crap their daughter does is just ridiculous sometimes, and they can't do anything about it short of locking her away- but they are smarter than that. Be real guys, the blame is spread to several places here (but really, bad "luck" seems to take the cake). The combo of an inexperienced girl, perhaps a douchebag selling shitty pills, an overcrowded venue with not enough access to water, a bunch of irresponsible jerks not paying attention to what was going on, and whatever else, seems to have been an awful combo- not one person or thing is at fault.
 
It was my first time for everything there at EDC. I was surrounded with love and safety....its such a shame that people don't know the value of education...I researched a bunch..and had one of the best experiences of My life

PLUR: Peace, Love, Unity, Respect.

I remember the good old days when raves ran on PLUR, but i must say raves were more part of the underground scene back then, and there were people who went to raves to dance to their favorite music, and meet other people who were as weird as we are in a peaceful loving environment where we'd unite and respect everyone because of our connection to the music, yes we did drugs too, but back then the music enhanced the drugs bringing us closer to the good values in P.L.U.R.

with the rave scene growing now to a size where raves are now considered as music festivals, our special connection to that special place we once had has been over run by everyone else, and we now have to face it that peoples values have totally shifted from the old four rules of P.L.U.R. to now being a place to escape reality and get fucked up. and sadly today most people are using the drugs to enhance the music, because most newcomers to the scene have more of a connection to the drugs than the music, and because of the warped introduction to the music through the drugs, the message of PLUR is no longer sinking in as well as it used to. therefore now people are less open to one another as they are in their own bubble, in their own world, hence why raves these days seem less about PLUR and more about Greed, selfishness and escape from reality.

the above is just one of my own theory's.

Hey u guys I just want to say I am25 years old and haven't done e or anything besides weed since sept 2009. The other day I took some tested MDMA Chrystal and weight out 125mg. I hadn't drank or anything else. I was hydrated a d everything. About an hour into my body started reacting to it in a ba way. My blood pressure and hr shot up and started to get a f ever. Luckily there was a medic at the club and he was able to get my Temp under control but I have sustained some liver damage. How bad it is I don't know yet but MDMA is not completely safe and that's a fact.

Ok im not gona lie when i first came into the scene it was about the drugs. I liked the music and a came into it with a very open mind but the drugs is what attracted me. Now that ive been ravin for a while ive had many new experiences and i have learned the true meaning of PLUR. I ave come 2 love the music...it amazes me how diverse it is...now i go for the music and the drugs r just extra. I have a rave family now that i met at sin city 10, and these ppl showed me and my girlfriend how 2 rave it the right way...it has completely changed me as a person for the better...im one of the oldest in the fam and we take care of al the younger ones...raves Havent lost PLUR, its just the massive explosion of the scene into mainstream...we just gotta have hope...they cant take it away from us...eventually it will die down
 
drugs are dangerous, i've had a couple close encounters myself.
but it actually surprises me that 1 out of (cumulatively) 185,000 people died.

This chick was just not smart. took pills, started getting dehydrated,
drank water at a fast pace, and "drowned" as one of her E-tarded friends said on their facebook page.
BULL fucking shit she drank a water with drugs in it
her friend also said on facebook that Sasha took E, and didnt "drink a waterbottle with drugs in it"

this year was pretty damn SICK(in a good way) SHM and deadmau5 killed it =]. one girl died out of 185,000 that went? also i read some articles that said her parents wanted to blame the promoters, but honestly it was the freaking parents fault for not being aware of what their daughter was on to. lol

^Yeah, the whole thing is pretty hilarious 8)

The minute we arrived at EDC this year I felt like I wanted to leave. The vibes going around were so different than last year, it just felt so much more...aggressive. Last year's was a much better experience for me. The number in attendance last summer was almost the same, yet there weren't any stories on the news about anyone getting seriously hurt or killed. Something just wasn't right this year, and I could feel it going in. So many wanna-be thugs and gangsters and kids who have no place being in that kind of environment were there thinking they owned the place, and the result is all of this negative media attention now and the poor girl that died.

I've only ever attended massives but I'm starting to see why some of the old schooler's miss the way it used to be (small and underground). I wish I was born 10 years earlier so I could have experienced what it really meant to rave :\
 
Gatorade is actually better than water generally. The problem with drinking too much water comes from disrupting the balance in your body between sodium and water - the balance is important for body function. Sports drinks are setup to help both hydrate and also add salt.
 
First time posting.... I started raving back in 99 when I was 17. The vibe was always chill and fun. The 1st time when I noticed the crowd not be the chill and fun crowd is when they started promoting it on the radio and SELLING alcohol. Promoting Raves on hip-hop radio stations and selling alcohol is going to mess anything good up. Anytime you sell alcohol.... it is never good thing at parties.
 
I went to EDC and it was honestly the best night of my life, I didn't see anyone "dropping like flies" There was 180 thousand people there and one person died.. It's very sad that this girl died, I think they should defiantly make this event 18+.

There was a lot of people fence jumping to get onto a closed stage, witch caused many injuries but no deaths. But I think this also could have been avoided had they had more security / law enforcement on the job in that area.

I completely agree with this and people who can not control how much they induce & etc.

I was just thinking, although I have not attended a rave yet while on e, I thought since the popularity of dance music is coming back and especially House music, this could promote more people, especially stupid idiotic people to attend these events and not know how to be smart about things like this.

Once something goes popular, the essence and beauty of it all goes to waste until it soon dies and has to go back to the beginning. :| [Sorry if I sounded all mystical or some shit there lol]
 
Wow i just saw a new video of the fence hopping i didn't realize how relentless they where.... I guess I was wrong they had alright amount of law enforcement.. I hope they find a way to keep people out next year..

Anyways I was at the DnB stage most of the time, it was all pretty much good vibes there.

Maybe it should die. Going back to the beginning might be the best thing for rave culture...

I completely agree!
This trend (raving) needs to become old. It is so upsetting to me that things are the way they are... The rave culture is getting so much younger, which is sad. 15 year olds, in my opinion, should not be raving. I even think I should've started later, and I started when I was 16 going on 17.. And did anyone see the edc gate rushing video? That is so sad and that shows us what this culture coming to. Now they are in the process of deciding whether or not the sports arena (where edc was held) will be banned from holding raves. I really don't know what is going to happen to raves now that things are getting so much worse.. But I really hope that eventually it starts getting better, because things right now are not ok, especially because of the crowds that raves are attracting. Also, raves are being way too publicized and obviously, mainstream :[
 
The truth of the matter is that the bigger the event the more reckless, irresponsible, fucked up people are going to be in attendance. Couple that with bigger DJ names and lower age limits equals events that are just bound for trouble.

I don't know about some of you, but I'm going to stick to 18+ or 21+ events from now on. I went to an event here in Seattle that was 18+ and it was amazing. The vibe was incredibly positive and no one was even searched on the way in (no one felt like a criminal before they even entered the place.) I have never before nor ever since felt that kind of vibe at an all ages or 16+ event. Amazing what just a couple more years can do for one's maturity.
