    Welcome Guest!

Young girls dies after attending a Rave in L.A.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IiMAu9qaZE&feature=player_embedded

Too many posers go to raves just to get fucked out of there minds. Theres so much more to these events and most people dont even care about the music. If you cant go to at least 1 rave sober then your not really about the music.

I can remember a time when it was "socially unacceptable" to participate in these events, now that the underground has risen to the mainstream its suddenly "cool". I have seen more "ravers" come out of the closet in the past 4 years then aver before.

While all the negative publicity is unfortunate for insomniac, its bout time they get a smack in the fucking face for dangerous and poor organization. This is a small scale in comparison to the full scale riots that could break out next year.

The coliseum is not meant for events and venues of this scale and capacity. The population is increasing exponentially so I still dont expect the excitement to go away. Rotella pushed his luck and this was year was the breaking point. In the interest of safety its about time we clean out the trash.

Its time to purge the industry of its excess and see who remains faithful to this culture after the smoke settles.

To those who stand by the music and remain faithful, I salute you. This industry always goes up and down when promoters get greedy...its been happening for more than 20 years.

All remain welcome with open arms....but no more riots, $5.00 water, Underage teens, and reckless security that cant keep there cool.

Revolution 2.0

(Sorry for the rant)

I had a blast on Friday. Deadmau5 cube stage thing was a trip.

I went and had an amazing time. Day one - LSD. Day two - White Euro Pokeball.

IMO it was her own fault. Obviously she had done it before and wanted to do it bigger at EDC. Fucking stupid.

Where does it say anything about her drinking from someone else's water bottle or taking mdma unwillingly? Have I missed something?

how the media worded it in a few sources made it sound like the girl drank off someone's water bottle that was laced with E (which would mean she took E unwillingly...) and that she got the brain damage from that.

I don't understand how this could happen, but that water bottle must have had 20 different combination of pipes in it for her to die off drinking it.

I'm of the opinion that the "Ecstasy-laced water bottle" thing is a convenient fiction that the media and her family are using to excuse a child from illegal drug use. I don't blame them (who wants their deceased child stigmatized as a drug user?), but it does hurt the public conception of Ecstasy, unfortunately...

More likely is that she'd used before, enough to gulp down a handful of untested pills without much forethought, and possibly knowingly combined them with alcohol or some other drug. This should be a reminder to us all that each additional pill you take multiplies the unknown cuts that you're consuming.

This girl is a victim of fear and ignorance. Until the circular logic of "it's dangerous, thus taboo. it's taboo, thus it's dangerous." ends, people are going to get killed in the crossfire. :(

EDIT: Let me be clear that I have complete sympathy for her and her family. We all take risks when we use potentially dangerous substances, but at least adults are able and willing to bear the risk. In her case, she was unaware of the risk, unable to minimize it out of naive ignorance, and ultimately unable to comprehend the responsibility of taking one's life into one's own hands. Children should never have to make these kinds of decisions. My heart goes out to everyone involved in this tragedy.

I may get flamed for this post, but whatever. I honestly do not think that what the media is telling us is the truth. Think about it, what are the odds that this girl unintentionally took a swig of water from a laced bottle and then actually died from it? She knowingly went to the rave under the legal age, so it may be probable that she took E willingly as well. Think about it... something just doesn't add up.

The best guess I can give is that her friends are lying to cover their asses. I'd be willing to guess that she knowingly and willingly took MDMA in some form (molly or pressed pills), and then she got hot and decided to drink too much water too quickly, disrupting the delicate balance of electrolytes (most importantly, sodium), in her body. Having too few electrolytes in her body would cause her to pass out and cause brain damage. The brain damage WAS reported in most media sources that I've read. She probably was not informed on proper harm reduction like most veteran bluelighters here.

In no way am I trying to say "oh she fucked up, it's her fault." Because there are too many unknown factors. What I am trying to say, though, is that this definitely could have been avoided if she had educated herself and used a little more common sense before illegally entering the rave. Sorry if I've offended anyone, but I think that there is something not right with what we've been told on the news.

I agree 100%.

Whenever you get 185k people together someone is inevitably going to die. I don't think anyone has the right to sit here and point fingers on who's fault it is. Especially not the poor girl or her parents and family. This could have happened to anyone. Drugs are not prejudice. If your body isn't taking to the effect or the chemical and it's too late then that's it. We all take the chance and responsibility when we intake any form of drug. The girl wasn't stupid she was just naive and uneducated about MDMA. How many 15 year old's are?? And about her being there underage well that's insomniacs problem. She was not the only underage person there, ID's where not being checked. I personally feel sorry for the parents, they had no idea what 'raves' are all about. Should they have known? Yes. Teenagers have sneaky ways though of doing what they want and keeping parents in the dark. Just look at how many young (13-17) girls are dressed at raves. I really doubt parents send them off with a kiss and spending money looking like that. I am sad, and give my love to her parents and family. It must be devastating to loose a child. As long as raves are going on, and they are all ages, then it's inevitable that kids will die.

You all have to see videos of this EDC. It looked terrible. Makes me want to stop going to parties like this. Did you see the youtube clip of the douche bags fighting with security?

This is just awful.

I wish she could have had better friends. One that would keep her from taking a high dose, check on her, and buy her a sealed water bottle or some Gatorade.

My buddies went to the event and said it was awful. People were dropping like flies.

Kids/Teens/Young adults take a lot of drugs way too lightly and its so sad. One of the dummies that went took 8 (DAMN GOOD) pills and ended up buying a few more there. There is something WAY wrong with that. Either you are trying to get way too fucked up or your tolerance is so high you need to chill for a WHILE.

I hope people learn from this stuff and really start to respect MDMA and all other drugs alike.

This should teach the idiots that think there invinsible a lesson ., DRUGS ARE DRUGS YOU ARE UNDER THE INFLUENCE, even if your on 1 pill

Also raves are really intense. Its very different then rolling at home or at rents. ULTRA this year sold out 80,000 + ppl and there were ambulances every were there was a little ambulance train with streatcher full of youngins that are rookies and don't know there drug limits yet. those are the usual over doses and dirty pills .

Ravers ranch was raving at its funest buts rawest and most dangrrous. I dont think they would send us back to the underground but it seems they may. I thot venues like yhe hudson and the fox were permitted bcuz they knew they couldnt stop it and an attempt to make "safer"... This is nothing new people od all the time on all drugs.... I guess as mainstream as edc is now may b hurting it. If it wasnt so mainstream, like all the previous rave od's this one wuda not seen coverage. I feel sympathy for her family and this is real tragic. I wouldnt want my daughter at a rave at 15. I know ill be going to events occassionally in ten more years wen shes fifteen, i would never bring my daughter atleast till she was 18 after that i cab suggest not but meh ^^^"s right kids will b kids n sneak away n lie thru there teeth.

YES YES YES! I really hate how everyone is trying to blame her parents for not knowing where she was at.
COME ON GUYS! We've all been teenagers before, we all know it is possible to sneak around and do things behind their backs. She probably told her parents she was sleeping over at a friends house or something. The rave was 16+, she was 15, would a few months really have made that much of a difference? Uhhh no.

I'm not trying to say it's the rave scenes fault.
What happened to PLUR?
Why does everyone need to put the blame on someone/something?
You could twist the story a million different ways blaming a different source, it doesn't change anything though. Shit happens! It was an accident.

I dont care what people may have said about EDC, but it was amazing.

Yes there were doushe bags but its America, theres doushes everywhere. I could tell when someone was rolling or not when I was, you just feel their energy, and alot of people there had the wrong state of mind, especially at the dubstep stage.

BUT IF you go with a group of good friends, have good stuff, and be smart about it, its an experience of a lifetime.

Unfortunately many people do not do any of these things, and people overdose etc.
which causes these news stories and this discussion.

Sorround yourself with the people you love, youll be happy and safe. If you feel overwhelmed, sit and talk with some of your best friends, they will help you get on the right track for a great night youll remember forever.

Long live EDC!!!

RIP

Yeah the whole MDMA water story doesn't seem to add up. I am with RGB on this. It's kind of crazy how her parents want to ban raves. I understand that they are very angry, but such action will hardly ensure that this kind of thing doesn't happen again. If anything the only thing that will help avoid this kind of issue is mandatory testing booths at large events as well as harm reduction pamphlets warning about possible issues.

But that will never happen because of the moral panic and because people are not ready to break away their anti-drug conditioning and approach this issue in a calm, rational manner.

And to all those people bitching about "parental responsibility" and such stuff, you're just a bunch of ignorant assholes. Teenagers do this kind of stuff all the time, that's what childhood is about. You ignoring a fundamental aspect of human psyche with your pompous ideological BS. It's not like you can lock up your kids and keep control of the 24/7. Hell that would probably destroy their minds and social skills.
