6,276 mg acetaminophen...am I gonna die?

I certainly am curious about how your body handled it. If the OP went to the E.R., they prolly pumped his stomach, oh god. That would not be a good way to come down.

I hope he's just sleeping it off, and drinkin water to help the pukin. And not just leaving us in suspense for nothing! The vomiting can last for up to 7 days. But ive had a large amount of apap, and after not being able to hold anything down for like a week I was ok.
 
Ok, just got discharged from the hospital.
When I got there, they did bloodwork and my Tylenol level was somehow zero.
However, in case I had damaged my liver, they made me drink this absolutely VILE shit called Mucomist or something. It was terrible.
Didn't get my stomach pumped. They just did some math and figured I'd be all right, gave me some nasty shit to drink (nasty is an understatement) and I stayed the night. Now all is fine.

Thanks to everyone for all the help. And I know it was stupid to not want to go to the hospital, but my parents take those kinds of things EXTREMELY seriously and I knew they'd be super pissed. I only wanted to go if I was definitely in danger of losing my life. Otherwise, why get in trouble if you aren't going to die?
 
Was the stuff they made you drink black?
Usually they give you activated charcoal... just curious.
I know the feeling of not wanting to get in trouble.
But if they yell just remind them that you were trying to be responsible.
Usually parents aren't mad, they are just glad that you're alright.
Let us know how it goes over.
 
Nah man, it was clear. Looked just like water.
They said something about charcoal, but never gave me any.
And my parents aren't super mad, but it'll be a while before I go anywhere again. lol

The first time I had DXM, I was also an idiot and consumed guaifenesin, pseudoephedrine, and possibly acetaminophen (I can't remember). It was only 300mg of DXM, and ended up being a relatively safe drug experience. Later, I took 450mg of DXM with nothing but the red dye and capsules, and it caused so many more problems. While the other ingredients are bad for you, DXM itself is also very unhealthy at high doses, so I would worry just as much about that as the other less psychoactive ingredients. I seriously doubt you are going to die or even have a serious long-term reaction, but I'm fucked up on lots of depressants/benzos now so you obviously shouldn't trust me (or anyone in specific, for that matter).

Edit: many people seem to be concerned over the amount you took, so perhaps I am simply too impaired to write a proper response. Good luck though.

Mucomist is a brand name for n-acetyl-l-cysteine which is the commonly used antidote for acetaminophen poisoning.

Glad you went in man, and glad to hear that you'll be ok!
 
i'm sorry to have come across as an angry gremlin before, but i hate to read about people losing their lives over something like this- it's definitely not worth it. i don't think your parents were so much mad as they were worried about you. often, anger results from a feeling of helplessness which is obviously what parents experience when their child is in the hospital or in any dangerous//threatening situation. by 'grounding' you, they feel that you are safer because they can somewhat monitor what is going on with you.

i can't understand how your acetaminophen levels were non-existent, that makes absolutely no sense if you truly ingested the amounts you claimed. perhaps you only thought you did because you were tripping? :o

anyway, i am happy to read that you are infact okay. pleeeeeaaaase be more careful from now on. it's okay to experiment and have a good time, just do so as safely and responsibly as possible :)

The test was likely a false negative, which is why they went ahead and treated anyway.
 
Mucomist AKA Acetylcysteine. Charcoal is Activated carbon very effective, its cheap and everyone should have it by hand. ;)
 
Don't force yourself to throw up either.

That is a big NO NO with acetaminophen poisoning
 
Glad you're okay, man. Stomach pumping would have sucked. try to keep an eye on apap levels from now on. It's in everything these days. I swear. Cold water extraction is simple enough but I know its sometimes not worth it with just a few pills but the 5/500s are worse than the 10/325s i got. I straight told my doctor before he prescribed me 5/500s that i had a sensitivity to tylenol, and he changed it to 10/325, but still i'll CWE those too. (not unless there's at 3)

but those 5/500s are beggin for cwe.

That sucks at least they were not to mad and your OK, always read the bottle first. Whenever i take a DXM trip i buy the Delsym so I don't have to worry about that pure extended release DXM nothing like tripping balls for like 12 hours.
 
After the syrup I'd imagine you could have taken ten minutes for a CWE, but as long as you're alive...

I wouldn't consider 450mg a particularly high dose of DXM. Disregarding overdose, why do you think it's very unhealthy at high doses?
 
Yeah, i was scared shitless so I definitely learned a lesson from this. Plus being in the hospital sucks PERIOD, so I'm gonna stay away from there unless absolutely necessary lol.
Thanks to everyone for the concern and advice; Sad to say but without you guys telling me how idiotic I was being, I probably wouldn't have gone in and things could have been a lot worse.
 
DXM is not unhealthy. You don't even start to near a fatal overdose until the 2500mg mark. I take 1200mg at least 3 times a week and have for over 6 months now. I wont take less than 750mg and the most I've taken at once was 1600. Just got blood work done about a week or 2 ago and my liver and kidneys are doing just fine. I have not shown any signs of decreased brain function either.

I wouldnt go as far as to say DXM is healthy, but its certainly one of the safer substances you can consume to get high.
