Last night I was being an idiot, tried to trip on DXM and drank cough syrup that contained a total acetaminophen content of 3,776 mg. I was bored today and found some hydrocodone pills laying around (500/5 acetaminophen/hydrocodone) and took five, out of boredom. It's been ten minutes since I took the pills and around thirteen hours since I drank the cough syrup.

Question is, is 6,276 mg of acetaminophen enough to kill?

(Because I'm flipping shit right now.)

:|
Hope I don't look like that in an hour.

Edit: Yes, I know; I should have done a cold water extraction to get the hydrocodone out, but I was being lazy and it's obviously too late for that now.

The daily allowance is 4g but you're supposed to spread it out over a day.

Even if you took it at once it wouldn't kill you but it is pretty bad for your liver. The fact you took it over two days helps, just don't make a habit of it.

edit - ah sorry I just saw its been 13 hours, not really two days. I doubt its a lethal amount but you're really not doing your liver any favours. Don't do it again!

CWE the pills next time, its not worth destroying your liver for a process that doesn't take that long.

As others have mentioned it may be worth taking a trip to ER if you'd rather be safe than sorry.

Right around the 7000mg mark is where fatal overdoses start.

Best advice is to go to the ER about it so that they can give you IV n-acetyl-l-cysteine. If you won't do that, at least to go a pharmacy and buy a couple boxes of s-adenosyl-l-methionine (SAMe) and dose 2500mg of it every four hours for a total of 10,000mg.

Remember that these treatments are only really effective in the first 24hrs or so.

Go to the ER now. Symptoms of APAP overdose do not begin to show until the 48hr mark. You took a very large dose in 24hrs, and I do feel you may be in danger.

THIS
seriously, that's a HUGE dose to take in that short of a time frame. especially if you do not take acetaminophen often//consistently to at least build some sort of shitty tolerance to it// get your liver accustomed to it. because symptoms do not start until it's pretty much too late, i definitely suggest going to the emergency room. preventative measures for complications that may not arise are the best course of action here. even if nothing ended up happening- it's still better to be safe than sorry, especially because this can be extremely damaging to your body if not fatal. please take this advice and go now. it's really not worth your life, is it?

please be more sensible and cautious next time. your liver//life are surely not worth the shitty buzz you probably got from this mistake.

I've read accounts of drug addicts with Hep C taking in excess of 4grams of paracetamol .
Although it should be avoided, theres no real risk of liver damage.

In my early 20's , I am 33 now, I took a lot of opiate pain pills containing acetaminophen which I never thought about the dangers of the acetaminophen at the time as I was uneducated as to the maximum dosages..However there were days, luckily I am alive that I took well over 7000 miligrams of acetaminophen with hydrocodone pills and did not die,or ever notice that I had any side effects,As I said I was uneducated on APAP poisoning levels, and I think I exceding 10,000 mg's of APAP in less than 24 hours on more than 5 days concsecutively, and never got any ill effects...I Was very dumb and VERY LUcky,The doctors later did tests on my liver and somehow there was no damage done...again I WAS LUCKY AND DUMB...Dunno how I was able to not only avoid any liver damage , but how I did not die!

If you're really still worried (unnecessarily) drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol for a few days.

You should be fine after throwin up a bit... just make sure to drink water to help the dry heaving and if you feel like its really bad go to the E.R., but thats a last resort thing. I think you'll be alright.

OP, I like how you took pills that contain APAP after the fact still.

The thing is, he won't know if he is in danger until another day or so. Like I said, it takes time for APAP poisoning to kick in.

I still say go to the ER.

Or at least make a phone call to a Dr!
If you are experiencing any pain in your abdomen you need to get to a hospital.
Liver failure is not a joke!
Furthermore, the internet is just regular people like you, we are not drs, you really shouldn't use the internet in a life threatening situation.

For freaking real, you NEED to go to the ER or if you refuse at least try the SAMe thing I suggested ( it's been clinically shown to help.)

You won't have a single symptom until it's TOO LATE to do anything so you've got to be proactive about it just in case.

you don't seem to understand this so let me reiterate it once again:

You won't have a single symptom until it's TOO LATE to do anything so you've got to be proactive about it just in case.

you keep saying how worried you are but choose to do nothing about it. i just don't get it. :!

i'm done with this.

^2nd.
I get so sick and tired of the stupidity.
Idk it could out you into liver failure or die.
No big deal.

You should go to the doctor if your worried, and dont do drugs if your gunna take them stupid that just puts a bad wrap on the rest of us
