Hi everyone! We are collecting Suboxone prices from various areas where it is prescribed so that we can have solid figures to go by when discussing treatment. If you are or have been prescribed Suboxone and know the price without insurance, please post it in this thread. Please follow the guidelines below for your posts:

**MOD NOTE**

We are discussing the price of prescription maintenance buprenorphine only in this thread, and therefore no street prices. Discussion on prices is still limited to the price threads as it has been. Give the total price for your prescription, the pill count, and the price per pill; Also, include the region of the world in which you live, preferably the state and country, though you can be less specific and just give the region and country if you wish.

Thanks for your help!

No prices outside the price thread! Reported!

I have a pharmaceutical app that lists pricing information derived from a popular, above-board internet pharmacy... I'm not sure if this will be useful, but here it is...

*Suboxone* 2mg
#30- $109.18/$3.64 per pill
#60- $305.71/$3.40

8mg
#30- $201.08/$6.70
#90 $576.64/$6.41

*Subutex* 2mg
#30- $153.05/$5.10
#90- $433.62/$4.82

8mg
#30- $278.70/$9.29
#90- $808.78/$8.99

^Yeah, that is good... I expect the results to average out to about that. We'll hopefully see what the range is with this thread...

My Sub Dr. prices in Philadelphia:

8mg suboxone brand name:

Induction fee: $200
Monthly prescription fee: $70
Script: I'm scripted #90 8mg per month, and without insurance at the pharmacy I go to it costs $7 per pill. So $630 per month. I have Medicaid and only pay $3 co-pay for them all.

I've found that every pharmacy and every sub Dr. around here charges different prices, so I would advise everyone to call around and make a list of the cheapest places you can find.

The clinic I go to is outrageous...no insurance accepted, so it's cash only. It's been a long time since I started Sub Rx (years), so I don't recall the exact intake price, but I do believe it was about $200. I pay $380 for 30 of the 8mg. The thing is, Im on a low maint dose, so I break them up and they last me QUITE a long time (3-4 months). The prices are ridiculous though! It's really hard for someone who needs the help, but can't afford it! One thing that is cool, is Ive been going to this same clinic for so long that Ive grown close to the staff...they've been a great support system for me when Im struggling to behave. I can be completely honest with them, which is very cool.

The other down side for people seeking bupe Rx is that almost every clinic has an extensive waiting list due to the limited amt of patients the doc can have at any one given time. They have increased the number, but it is still causing big wait times.

Hope that helps!!

:0)

45 8mg pills a month- $360 (8 dollars each)

im clean now, mainly because there was no way i could afford this along with the $150 dollar dr visits. good thing subs are pretty fucking easy to wean down from and i was ready to quit.

just a courtesey reminder to everyone to only list pharmacy prices, not street prices. street prices have no connection to this poll. posts that include street prices will be unapproved.

In the Niagara Region ON Canada

Dr. visit is free of charge (initial consultation)

Clinic visits are free of charge (monthly, biweekly or weekly follow ups for as long as treatment lasts)

8mg Suboxone = ~$6.95

2mg Suboxone = ~$2.95

plus the dispensing fee from the pharmacy which varies from store to store anywhere from $3.00 - $9.00 based on 1 script per week.
(avg. $12-$36/month)

Fortunately I am covered through my wife's work benefits and they actually pay me.....joke....my subs are free. I don't pay a single penny. (12mg/day)

Side note:
Up here in Canada if you are on social assistance (welfare) methadone is free but suboxone isn't there yet. So you have to pay for one not the other which makes suboxone less popular.
The way suboxone is prescribed up here is different as well. We have to earn our take home medication. We don't get a months script right away. We have to provide clean urine tests coupled with regular visits to clinic. Witnessed dosing daily at the pharmacy for first month then you are rewarded with weekend carries (take home meds) and then roughly one carry added for every couple of weeks of clean urine. I'm at two months on subs and have 3 carries/week. What I am saying is there is additional costs apart from the meds themselves. Travel, parking and time off work all add up. But still all this is better than the alternative.:\

I am forced to go to a certain pharmacy by my Sub Dr. I am also forced to go to a certain drug testing lab by my sub Dr. The lab and the pharmacy are owned by the same company (hmmmm). If I wanted to go to another pharmacy, too bad, go to the one he says, or I get kicked out. Keep that in mind with my prices. I'm not going to give my area for certain reasons, but I will say I am east coast of the US.

Here are the most recent prices without insurance (Remember, sometimes prices change depending on quanity)

I'm not going to post the Dr fee's, but the Dr will have to see you atleast once a month, usually every week untill he "trusts" you, then 2x a month. So you're looking at 600-1200 a month to start, and 300-600 a month when at 2 weeks, depending on cost of visit

These are for Reckitt Suboxone - the Orange hexagons.
14 x 8mg subs = $89.13
Averages to $6.36 per pill
Average price per mg = $0.80

21 X 2mg subs = $74.85
Averages to $3.56
Average price per mg $1.78

1 8mg pill would cost 6.36
4x2mg pills (to get to 8) would cost $14.25

So it is better to get the 8's than the 2's, because although the 2's cost less per pill, to get to the same mg, a 8 will do you better. Also if you get an 8 and break it into 4 it costs $1.59 per 2mg, which is $1.97 cheaper than the 2mg's

Central Florida:

W/o insurance, a single 8mg suboxone pill runs about $8. I don't ever buy in bulk, at most 4-5 pills at a time. Last time I bought 2, it ran about $14.

My doctors visit runs me $100 a month, once a month. The only exception being the first month where I had to see him twice ($200).

<Massachusetts, USA>

Anyways, I happen to have Mass Health so I don't get charged anything. But I do happen to know that my doctor charges my insurance company $400 per visit. The 8mg suboxone pills are $9 WITH the discount from CVS Pharmacy.

Hey everyone, we are now also asking for the region that you live in as well as the other information. Your state and country are plenty specific, though you could be less specific and just give your region and country if you wish.

If you guys who have posted already could edit this into your posts, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

just a quick question from a brit for all u merkins out there - how the hell do you afford to be on a script? the treatment prices seem to be more than keeping a habit going. in the uk thanks to our wonderful NHS all drugs are free if you're not working and if you are it costs £14.40 per month

i dont speak for everyone, but if i did have to pay for my suboxone treatment + scripts, i would. it allows me to live a steady, relatively unstressed lifestyle as opposed to the up & down rollercoaster of being a junkie, not to mention the costs of legal fees associated with it.

you might be able to keep a habit going, but you aren't taking into account the loss of employment, family, time, and all the other expenses that go with that lifestyle.

Minneapolis MN

First appt. fee $450.00...$225.00 every visit after cash ONLY ...So expensive..Only doctor I could find that was not at his patient limit without having to admit myself to a detox =(

Suboxone 8mg = 7.95 a pill..

I know for me anyway, that I use 2, maybe 3 pills a week, which is only around 24$. That amount in my DOC wouldn't even keep me from being sick.

It seems like a large amount to pay at once, but I don't ever pick up my whole script at once, just once a week. And I get scripted 60 pills a month, but only use maybe 10 of those, so I can go for months on one single script.

Northwest Washington (close to Seattle)

The doctor I see gives you a choice.

$150/visit and $25 urinalysis fee
$2,000 for the first 3 months. This covers everything except for the Buprenorphine (visits, needed testing, urinalysis, ect.) He even covered a few visits to a therapist.

After the initial 3 month phase it goes back to the $150 doctor visit/$25 urinalysis fee
Cash customers recieve a 10% discount.

Suboxone 8mg $6.72 each/30-$201.60 (Walmart Pharmacy)

I've checked other pharmacies prices in the area, they are all in the $6-8 range.
