I go to a subsidized clinic that charges based on income for the visits, so $35 for a doctor visit(I get 80% discount). When I first started I had to go once a month for my script but now he writes me a 3-month script.
Generic subutex at Walgreens $128 for 30 8mg pills (1 month supply).
This is a general clinic, not specific to subs, it seems the clinics that specialize in subs are way more expensive.

I live in the SE US...

I went with Costco, they’re by far the cheapest and if you’re a member without insurance you get an additional 10 to 30% off- I moved this April and the Costco is 2.5 hours away (but so is my Sub doc), regardless I called both RiteAid and CVS for a price quote on my (generic!) clonazepam qty. 90, it was literally 10 times or more what I pay at Costco! 8o

Suboxone
Qty 60 = $385 = $6.42 a pill
Qty 90 = $577 = $6.41 a pill

(although if I include the price of mandatory doc and therapist appts, it was $10.30 a pill at the first place $9.08 each at current)

Didn’t bother price shopping the 2nd time, but first time on Sub scripted 60 I called every chain pharmacy from Wal-Mart to Target to Rite-Aid to CVS. Celebratefor20 is in the same state but a different area- we don’t have the discount he has for $7.27 a pill, but he said without discount $10.99 at CVS which sounds right to me, I remember qty. 60 was about $650 at all the other joints, one place I think was $750 for 60, I just remember that with the exception of Costco the best price without insurance was about $11 per pill or a little less.

Just wanted to add that my prices are for 8mg Suboxone... the 2mg pills cost the same price! :X I found this out shopping around, but even my Sub doc, unprompted I may add, commented on how the 8mg and 2mg pills cost the same...

Simply more evidence toward the doc's knowingly scripting larger doses than neccessary to hold someone. As others have noted in the bupe mega thread, in the link re: this subject, the only benefit between let's say 4mg/day and the standard 16mg/day, IME, is that the higher dose occupies all your receptors and thus, at least for me and some others, eliminates cravings for drugs across the board... I went in to my doc (off Sub) one day after an IV coke binge, I was experiencing horrible cravings, she gave me ten days worth of Suboxone 16mg/day, the cravings literally disappeared after the first 8mg pill :)

There's one more benefit, IMO, to being on the higher dose and why I'm willing to pay for the higher dose... The first time I was on Sub, I did low doses, however I often would begin to experience the first stages of W/Ds... what's more, at such a low dose and with my cravings not blocked, I relapsed quite a bit :(

In the end paying for the higher dose is no more expensive IME than taking a low dose and relapsing frequently :\ The higher dose not only holds me, but truly allows me to function on a day-to-day basis... plus I still get the great antidepressant effects =D
Granted, I no longer catch a buzz off Sub, but that's not really the point 8)

^Yes, the 2mg are certainly close to the price of 8mg tabs according to people's reports. This is helpful to know.

NEw York, US. if you have Empire lue Cross Blue Sheild Insurance.... you need nly pay a copay. for prescription coverage, i started to have to pay $90 per month for suboxone because my plan changed for brand name meds.... however, i switched to subutex. each month a visit costs me $25 copay and $5 for the script...

:)

at first i was payng $400 for induction 100 per month and 20 per scrupt... then i cfound my insurance paid for it and i got reimbursed for exerything.

^is that with insurance? If so, do you know the price without? Also, where are you at?

Sydney, Australia

Got two types of clinic, public (goverment ran - limited places and can be long waiting times) and private. Generally everything at public clinics is free, whereas private will prob set you back $25-35 to intially sign up and then $10-12 per dose regardless of mg (generally methadone is $5-7) - apointments with Dr are free tho

7 pills of suboxone in a box. 2mg and 8mg are available.

The price of a 2mg box is about 10 US dollars, 8mg being 40$

One 2mg pill is about 1.5$
One 8mg pill is about 5.7$

That makes 1mg cost about 70cents

All doctor visits are free and paid for by the state health care. The subox itself is also paid for by the state health care. unless you choose to pay for it yourself :-p
Same's for methadone.

$41 for qty 90? wow 8o

(to karkov25):
Looks like you're in Seattle, I lived in the area a number of years and am familiar with the methadone clinics, etc. but have never heard of 46 cents a pill- if t.i.d. that's only $1.37 a day, most clinics are in the $10/day range whether Sub or methadone (sadly Sub is usually more :\ )

Thus, I would assume you pay that little b/c you have insurance, although $41 is an odd number for a copay. You said "subs," to be clear do you mean Suboxone or Subutex?

Question for all: I've heard of generic Subutex; in the US, the only time I've (legitimately) seen Subutex is in the hospital; they even used Suboxone at my first induction :\ My question is this: Is generic Subutex available in the US?
If it is, I haven't seen it since we all know Suboxone can't be abused or IV'ed 8)

I'd love <3 a generic as $577 a month (90 8mg Suboxone) is killing me; it's embarassing to have the clerk swipe multiple cards as some are maxed :\

Edit: Read through the thread again, seems that at least one guy in the US (Jersey) is getting generic Subutex, would still appreciate confimation- or perhaps should do my own homework ;)

I mentioned in my post on free meds that I get most all my meds through patient assist. programs for free- now, these are non-scheduled, non-recreational meds, yet for example, when switched from generic hydroxyzine to its brand name Vistaril via patient assist, I noticed the brand name was markedly stronger- I wasn't expecting this, thus I doubt it's a placebo effect, and I doubt it has to do with absorption rate/filler as both are in capsules.

My grandmother was a pharmacist, till the day she died she paid more for brand name Vicodin ES- having had hers (what a great hookup began giving them to me when I was 13 =D ) and had Rx'ed hydro + APA, the brand name certainly felt markedly stronger, in fact I could feel some euphoria from only 1-2 7.5/750 Vicodin ES at age 13 with little to no tolerance whereas 1-2 7.5/750 generic had a "blunting" effect with zero euphoria.

That leads me to a second question; I realize this thread is about PRICES however if there's a difference between generic and brand that plays a role in $ making decisions. To anyone who has been on both brand and generic Subutex, is there a difference and if so, what precisely is the (subjective) difference?

Thanks! :)

New Orleans(kenner, actually).
Suboxone 8/2
Count:60
Price total:427 dollars
Price per pill:7.82 Dollars

Started suboxone today.

Induction fee: $125
30 qty 8mg rx: $245

In theory, my insurance will re-imburse me for the vast majority of the $245, but my insurance is requiring a form be filled out by my doctor. As I didn't arrive at the pharmacy until after the sub doc was gone for the day, there was nothing for it but to pay the full price. After this insurance issue gets sorted out, my monthly script (which will be qty 60, the above was just a two week supply until my next visit) co-pay will only be $50. I'm (barely) in the Southern region of the US.

There are lots of people getting generic Subutex in the US, and there are now two companies that make generic Subs - Roxane and Teva
I'm in California and I'm on Sub maintenance.

The generic Subutex I get is the "Roxane" brand and although I haven't tried the RB brand of Suboxone, the generic Subs work well and are about half the price of brand name.

See my post on Page 2 of this thread.

I pay $147.16 for 45x8mg of generic Subutex per month, and $150.00 to my Sub Dr. every 8 weeks.

My appt. lasts for 30 minutes and my Dr. will address any questions, concerns, etc...
He also scripts me Ambien to help with sleep issues.
I get generic Ambien at Costco for cheap. 60x10mg is about $10.00

Also, I called Costco and they quoted me a price of $183.00 for 45x8mg (about $4.00 per pill) for generic Subutex, but said they would have to order it for me as they don't carry it in stock.

I pay $147.16 at Walgreens using the drug discount cards I downloaded and printed from various web sites.

Again, see my post on Page 2 of this thread for more information about the free drug discount cards, as they save me about .88 cents per pill, or about $40.00 per month.

For those of you paying cash/out of pocket for your Subs and your Dr. won't write you generics, then find a Dr. that will.

No one should have to pay $6-$10 for an 8mg pill of Suboxone when the much less expensive generic Subutex is available for about $3.50 per 8mg pill.

It pays to shop around.

In Cleveland, Ohio I have been paying by the week, because I can't afford an entire month at once. I pay $94.00 for 14 pills. About $6.71 per pill. This is for the 8 mg. Suboxone. My doctor only charges $75 per visit and you only have to see him once a month, even the first time taking it.

If anyone knows of a cheaper pharmacy I could go to in Cleveland, Ohio I would appreciate any information. I have gone to CVS, then transfered it to Walgreens after a week and they were both the exact same price. Any info would help me. These prices are killing me. But I have to admit I spent more on oxycontin a week so it is worth it for my health.

price

For #90 8mg suboxone, the Reckitt Benckiss ones, at the pharmacy the price without insurance is around 600 dollars. I luckily have insurance so the copay of 50 dollars is a lot better than the alternative.
And, on the doctor end, I just pay my regular doctors visit price to see her. She has other patients, and isn't just a suboxone doctor. Great lady; I'm glad to have found her.

$150 patient intake
$50 per month doc/counsler visits (required here)
~$20 8 times a year for UAs (required here)
$7 per pill (8mg) must be purchased there

The price per pill is the same regardless of if you are dosing in the clinic or have take homes. It seemed like a lot at first until I sat down and realized that it's much less (money and especially hassle/risk) than my habit was. Methadone from this clinic is $65 a week and that covers everything.

This is a clinic in Idaho.

With insurance, 30x 8mg Suboxone is only $60. This makes every gram of buprenorphine $250.

Considering that at the rate I use, it would take me at the very least 28 years to go through a gram of buprenorphine, that's a pretty good deal.

Was originally $555 with no insurance for 90 pills which comes out to $6.15 per pill.

I've since lowered my dose to 60 and got a plan and now I pay $95 which comes out to $1.60 per pill. I also pay about $110 for the coverage which comes to a total of $205, really or $3.40 per pill.

The $3.40 isn't really fair, though. That would only be fair if I were only being subscribed suboxone. In actuality, the $110 monthly also significantly reduces the cost for the other drug I'm currently on also, which is Lyrica. It doesn't equal heroin but I had a problem with missing the euphoria of the heroin when switching to suboxone only. Lyrica helps to stabilize my mood at least.
