Is it true that people generally smoke pure cannabis in the US rather than mixing it with tobacco?

Yes, it seems to be more the norm there. They view it as 'tainting' the weed if tobacco is mixed in. I agree in a way but a nice mix is good from time to time.

yeah literally nobody here mixes. I really cant ever imagine doing it either, it does taint the weed, and i dont like the effects or taste of tobacco, and im not looking to catch a nicotine addiction as a side affect of blazin. the only time i ever did mix them was when i would roll joints to smoke on break at work to cover the smell.

I'm just as American as you, but my views about pure weed are just as strong as your views about smoking with tobacco. Simply put, my weed goes in joints with tobacco... which you're welcome to toke as much as you like... but I'm not wasting my weed by smoking it on it's own.

OP: the above poster seems to be in congruence with the predominant view here in the North America. I don't know why it's so different here, but few of my friends are down with mixing it. I really wish it wasn't so...

i'm assuming you're from Bristol, so is mixing the 2 a british thing or european in general?

Tobacco is kinda gross. Not as many people in America smoke tobacco as they do in Europe. There really isn't any reason to put tobacco in your weed unless you smoke tobacco. Its pretty easy to get large amounts of good weed here, when I smoke it I like pipes. I've smoked spliffs before but I don't like them very much.

True. We don't mix the 2 normally. That was something I found interesting when I was in the UK. I think many of us don't smoke tobacco so there really is no point.

yeah theres definitely a few factors. I think if youre a cigarette smoker and what type of weed you have make a difference.

I dont smoke tobacco so im not gonna mix it.

However just about every cig smoker i know would say hell no im not gonna taint this bomb weed with tobacco.

I could see if you have brickweed or whatever it wouldnt be a big deal, but if you have really good delicious tasting stuff then mixing it would be the same as getting pure heroin or coke and cutting it before using it.

americans also pass their bongs around, as opposed to just sucking the whoel thing through into the water in one go.

verrrrry common to mix in australia too. almost unheard of to smoke straight...

Mixing is great once in a while, it's rough on the lungs though. Good weed isn't so expensive that I'm wasting it if I dont take a mixed bowl, a small nug snapped through is enough to get me stoned.

I've never passed a bong around uncleared does anybody actually do that cause that shit would be stale.

I don't know a single person who mixes their weed with tobacco. I have never personally mixed the two either. I prefer one or the other and it never crossed my mind to even DO that - just doesn't seem right.

- I didn't know passing a bong around was rare? It's pretty much instinct...etiquette.

I'm an American, and I would be down to mix the two in a joint, but I know my friends would be opposed. I think it's funny when people think they'll get addicted to nicotine from smoking the occasional spliff. It's not so much just nicotine that gets people addicted to cigarettes, it's also the habit of doing it multiple times a day every day. So as long as you aren't smoking 20 spliffs a day, which I'm sure most people don't, why should it be a problem?

There is also the fact that many people nowadays in the US look down on cigarette smokers, which is a shame. They think tobacco is disgusting, but then many people put their weed into blunts, so I don't see the problem.
