2010 World Cup, South Africa

hours away.

i went down to the sydney FIFA live site today at lunch

its looks awesome down there, if games werent on at such a crap time and it wasnt minus dick degrees, i would consider it.
 
Opening ceremony started :D

edit: 20 minutes to kick-off...im so excited haha

edit2: 0-0 half time...south africa started very nervously but just towards half time gained real momentum.

edit3: Its over. Brilliant goal by Tshabalala, followed by sloppy defending which led to the equaliser, and then Mphela to go so close in the last minute...beating the keeper but alas hitting the post...fantastic start to this WC

I am happy for South Africa. I don't know if they deserved a draw, but they outplayed the Mexicans in the second half in my opinion. I hope now France loses to Uruguay.

I hate hate HATE spanish/mexican commentators. That "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" shit really pisses me off. The only way I watch games on Telemundo is on mute.

yes, it was a handball, and yes it most likely would of got them 3 points, but it was also accidental. The foul by the Uraguian was pretty bad, he deserved to go for it.

The 3 points that no one got in the first game would of be like gold now.
 
So France v. Uruguay sucked. :|

Yikes!!! Hellz no! I think it's brutally obnoxious! Every time I hear it, I can't help but think that they got the memo years ago that people got a kick out of it, so they milked it for all it's worth and then some. The first while that I heard it, it didn't bother me, but now every time seems like it goes on for 5 minutes. It makes me change the channel now. Those fucking assholes!

I love the sport so even a nil nil draw can be exciting if it's a good show, but that one... was not. And call me stupid, but why did they sub Henry in for Anelka? Why not give it a go with the two playing up top? Did I miss something there?
 
Its all about North Korea baby! North Korea vs South Korea for the cup.

My two faves are the Dutch and the Germans. But I have a feeling it'll be either Brazil, Italy, or Spain bringing home the cup.
 
1st game - awesome 1-1 draw between South Africa and Mexico

2nd game - awful spectacle of 0-0 football; terrible players making terrible decision, and producing terrible football. Ou est le passion?

Good bet, France to bail out in the first group stage like last time + the same bet but with them scoring no goals (again)
Bad bet, england to win (not going to happen, sorry, and I'm english)
Winners = portugal, argentina, spain (in that order)
Under-achieve = brazil, france, england
Over-achieve = slovenia, USA, argentina
 
A lot of games over here in Aus are being shown in 3D.

Is that the same worldwide? Is 3D tele and sports specifically really taking off?
 
TV industry have to find ways of shortening the shelf life of TV sets every couple of years. Can't see this being as big as HighDef. Some die-hard sports/movie fans maybe, but families won't buy into it I wouldn't have thought.
 
South Korea beat Greece 2-0 easily, good match from a South Korean perspective, but the Greeks were awful.

Half time between Argentina-Nigeria, 1-0...Argentina dominating, Nigeria are still in it simply because of their keeper; Enyeama has been outstanding, if you can't watch the game check youtube for the saves later on.


Edit: Finished 1-0, Enyeama ended as Fifa man of the match unsurprisingly.

So close to England-USA...really excited haha

Yeah that first goal SUCKED ! However, this game is set before it begins, I'm afraid. 2-1 final score - England.

THAT being said, I 100% am rooting for USA but my expectations are very low. We've got a great team but I just can't see us pulling a win. :( Sad times. Time to dedicate my undivided attention (back to) to the game !
 
Fucks sake england...so typical. 15 minutes to go, USA arent pushing at all, they're happy with the draw, so what do we do? pass it around in defence...carragher getting raped by altidore, who, yes is a good player, but is hardly the pacey type..crouch not running for anything when he came on, and most annoying of all, lennon was in SO much space the whole fucking time and no one thought to pass to him...ridiculous, this is why i wait being an england fan haha
