Royal Doof 2010 ~ 12-14 June

^^ you wouldn't be talking of the doof that the organisers have asked not to be advertised in any way or for any randoms to be invited to, would you? :\

No idea, I just was told about it from a friend who said "Let people know who know *the guy* but don't tell others". Nothing was mentioned about 'no advertising' or whatever. I'll just edit it now if that's the case, off to work in a tick so I won't have time to check to see if that's the case. If it was, oopsy :! Edited it so if mods want to remove that and this post, no problems at all. Once again, apologies all round if there was a no advertising thing, I wasn't told about it! So I was trying to give a heads up that if people knew the guy, ask about going there. I was trying to be cryptic enough so randoms couldn't find there way there at all :)

All good :)

I just figured if people were meant to be "in the know" they would be. %)

but then again, i'm in no way involved with any of this or the melbourne doof scene, I just know of this as I'm privvy to someone's live journal. It could always be another party....

sonja and L3 - come to Psyfari!!! we'll send our doof helicopter down for you :p

Okie dokie :P nah i wouldnt actually mind going to psyfari... its just the 10 hr drive thats not convincing me! Roxanne Parlour it'll have to be :( and i'll still be wearing my gumboots so i would like the club floor covered in mud... TA x

I'll be eagerly awaiting said doof helicopter landing on my roof.
Better be room for the esky!

But roxanne looks like the go, still want to see the acts even if its not in the bush =\

Psyfari is just to far for me considering I have an exam the wensday after lol

Doof helicopter would make life so easy...

Anyone thought of hiring out a 'coach' bus to do the treck down in? Would still be 'shitty' but nowhere near as bad!

I regularly had to travel 7+ 10+ even 24+ hours in the work van, so wouldnt stress me. Once your 'in the groove' its not soo bad!

yea i posted something on there offering to play and the loan of my decks but they seem to have most things sorted dont knnwo if i will go tho if some one does go let me know how it went!

^^Funny coincidence in our change of plans: My mates mate is holding one up at his farm just out of mansfield, which is probably within 15min of this doof! I wonder if we'll be able to see/hear it! We're having our team meeting tomorrow to work out what we need to hire/organize. A very last minute decision, so should be fun!

Ours isn't being advertised coz it's more of a friends of friends thing and we don't want cops rocking up! :O

Yep it has been decided the Mr and i wont be going now. Im sure the music will be amazing, but the whole indoor crowded thing will outweigh the good times for us. Have fun to those who go and please report back!

^^Good decision DFRS

When I recently saw Opiuo at Roxanne Parlor, I was less than impressed with the venue, this will be exacerbated by the large crowd that Royal will inevitably attract there.

It's tops that Royal tickets can be used at Psyfari. My heart goes out to those who are stuck in melbs

I'm no longer doofing this weekend, first Queen's b'day without a doof in years!

I am however doing crowd care at a day event which will be a pleasant change. Will be interesting to see a big event from the other side of the fence and I look forward to helping those in need.

ROYAL- please tear us a new one next year! We miss you <3

Looking forward to Ostara and Noise Poison :)

So how'd everyone's weekend go?

Personally I settled for roxanne but had to leave early (1am or so?) due to a friend going missing in the city on a rather decent dose of LSD.

My night was about done after that, but I'm interested to hear how it was for everyone else.

Wish I got to see the acts but I was the only person in my group still on planet earth and figured I'd be #1 candidate for finding a lost tripper.

Luckily he turned up at home after a few stressfull hours.

As a consolation, those yummy looking tabs that thankfully didnt make their way under my tounge are going to make a very nice post-exam treat on wensday =D

Whoever went to any of the bush parties that came up in place of royal please do share stories/thoughts from the weekend =]

Bring on royal 2011 heheh

They're psychedelic hippie music festivals, Cornishman :)

Glad to hear your friend turned up L3inad - it is rather stressful when a mate wonders off like that :\ Hopefully he'll be more careful not to do that again in the future.

And yeah guys reviews! From the reviews on a different forum it seems like considering the circumstances the night still turned out ok. Was it packed??

Hey guys, I ended up going to Republic Doof on the Sat night.

Our weekend consisted of camping out at a mates farm about 10km out from Mansfield in a Pine forest that overlooked the Australian Alps. We had a good thumping sound system to satisfy us, but we decided that we would check out the Republic Doof Sat night to meet our Royal Doof needs.

We rocked up around 730pm to the site which was located right in the Strathbogie Ranges. I was very glad we were in a big 4wd as the road close to the doof site was hectic! Could already see big lines forming in the road from other cars tyres and could forsee lots of bogging action happening during the night/into the morning.

There were 2 wicked stage setups. #1 being the subbass crews system which sounded freaking great!! They were mostly playing drum n bass/some dubstep/and basically anything bass driven. Had a good amount of people rocking out to this stage during the night. This stage was situated right in the heart of the camping area, so we didn't have to travel far at all to have a dance!

#2 stage was a bit of a hike ( a couple hundred metres into the bush from the main camp site) and the music was mainly all psytrance/uplifting progressive type music. The system wasn't quite as good as the subbass crews, but it sounded really nice and had some good bass. It was open decks so who ever wanted to play could jump in! Whenever i was around this area there seemed to be good fun music being played. Not too banging for early in the night and from our campsite later in the night we could hear the BPM going hard!

Was fun to see all the trippers trying to help people getting out of the boggy roads. Saw a number of people pushing cars along with their fingers and generally not knowing wtf is going on!! Was highlarious, but good on you all for helping these guys out :D!

Overnight, the temperate was BONE CHILLING!! If you weren't dancing hard/standing around a fire you were gonna be cold as ice! Got down around 2c i'd say, but it felt WAY colder. :O:O

We ended up leaving around 10am after we got the rest of our crew together to head back to our own little doof for the rest of the arvo/night!

Respect to all those involved in the Republic Doof. We all had a great time and it must be done again!

Sorry about the crap review! I'm still rather tired from the weekend!!

Glad to hear you still managed to have a doof :)

On the night of Royal we had the awesome Samadhi and her soon to be hubby over for dinner and had a great night so i didn't miss Royal one bit this year :)

The hubby and i then had our own little royal doof on the Sunday night and tripped on shrooms by the fire outside in our back yard and chilled to awesome goa psy that we didn't realise we even had!

But yeah, all in all i still had a awesome weekend and sad it has come to an end :(

I am looking forward to other up and coming doofs that i will start a thread on when the time is closer :)

And i can't wait for Royal's big come back next year! (while trying not to wish life away at the same time)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, whatever you ended up getting up to <3
