I know this is a common, physiological effect of MDMA, but I don't understand why? I'm talking about drinking plenty of water on E, feeling the urge to pee, sitting on the toilet (or standing for you guys) and then....nothing. Maybe something if you wait it out....but sometimes, nada.

When I typed it in a Google search, a Yahoo answer appeared that was resolved with something to the effect of "because MDMA is so severely dehydrating that your body can't sacrifice one drop of water! Eventually, your body will use your spinal fluid! Stay away from E!" <--LOL, total BS, but unfortunately, thanks to the structure of Yahoo Answers, thats one of the first things that shows up when you search the topic.

I know theres a name for this temporary condition- I'm not really concerned with that, more just as to why it happens. Anyone know?

MDMA is an anti-diuretic, which doesn't really answer your question, it just rephrases it into a big word.

What I do know is that the inability to pee while rolling is the primary reason why OVERhydrating is a danger. If your body can't excrete water, your kidneys back up into your bloodstream and that's when water poisoning sets in.

It's certainly not that MDMA "dehydrates you so much you can't sacrifice any water." There's something else going on. I'm just not sure what it is.

I've noticed that it's more of a concentration issue combined with the time altering effects of MDMA. I'll have trouble focusing on my need to pee, and then it will feel like I've been sitting there for an eternity so I get frustrated and give up, when it's only been a few seconds.

I dunno, I rarely get E-wee though, but I did get it while rolling this past weekend. As I was coming up I headed to the bathroom for one last pee in case I couldn't later. Waited in the long ass girl's line, got distracted with some girl getting sick and when I finally got into the stall and sat down, I was feeling the roll and not the urge to pee anymore. So that was that. I didn't get to pee till 4 hours later when I was coming down. Then I peed A LOT about every 10 minutes.

MDMA (and related stimulants) enhances the activity your endogenous anti-diuretic hormone.

And then vasoconstriction adds to the issue, especially for the bros.

I believe it has to do with MDMA's muscle-relaxing properties more than its anti-diuretic properties. I have this problem every time I roll to some level.

To remedy, drink less water (a bottle an hour is the most you should ever need). I have written out my tried and true method when it just won't come out....it's somewhere on this forum. :P

its not E i know, but if i get a good buzz on any pharm script or non i cant pee, i just figured it was because ur body is sooo relaxed it cant make the muscles work. never experienced it on E that i can remember but many other things make me unable

MDMA does not exert muscle-relaxing properties. Quite the opposite, actually.

Er...which pharm script?

This seems to be what most of the info suggests....the "ghost pee" effect. I am frustrated by the misinfo that yahoo answers provides.

Misinformation will run rampant as long as we teach abstinence / ignorance as opposed to harm reduction in health classes. =( Nothing we can really do about that other than to spread as much accurate information as possible. It seems odd to me that MDMA makes people have crazy shits but the inability to urinate. I have this problem the worst with opiates and diphenhydramine / anticholinergics. It seems to always be tied in with not being able to crap as well, though. This is a bit of an enigma to me >_O

Well, I'm glad you asked! (Sort of asked, anyway.)

MDMA causes muscles to contract more easily/often. In the case of your digestive tract, that's a bad thing, because your stomach and intestines are lined with muscle. The job of these muscles is to force food along through your digestive tract. Make them over-active, and you can find yourself running to the bathroom.

In the case of your urinary system, there's a little muscle wrapped around the tube that carries urine from your bladder to the outside of your body. This muscle normally stays tensed up, holding back the pee. When you take a drug like MDMA (which increases muscle tension) it can become very hard to relax this muscle enough to let urine pass.

Cool, huh? =D

i find that the best way to avoid thizz dick is to drink less water. I dont mean dont stay hydrated but sip water throughout the night (1 bottle every 1.5-2 hrs) versus chugging a bottle of water... dancing and shit then coming back an hour or so later and chugging more.
sip=easy flow
chug=not so easy flow.

Thank you for this post. It all makes sense now--I had it backwards, MDMA doesn't relax you muscles, it tightens them! That explains a lot, actually....

i have that problem alot. actually has gotten to the point where ive had to had a cathider as well. a friend of mine and i discovered that getting a cup of HOT water and pouring it down there actually helps. or a HOT shower.

i know that doesnt answer your question on why it happens, but hopefully it will help someone who is having that problem.

MDMA increases the amount of an antiduretic hormone into the bloodstream (called Vasopressin) it reduces the need to go for a pee.

Basically the body thinks its dehydrated so pumps this stuff out to preserve water.

Sorry but this isnt correct - the muscle called the Detrusor controls flow of urine (this surrounds the bladder itself). It relaxes and the bladder fills it contracts and the bladder empties.

You can manually stimulate the bladder (not as bad as it sounds) as a guy the bladder lies just above the pubic region and below the naval - by GENTLY pressing and releasing that area you may find that it works. Hell of a lot easier than pouring a cup of hot water down there as somebody said above :0. Green tea also works :D

This is correct Anti= no diuretic = causes urination

The info about the water backing up in your kidneys is not correct.

If you have increased levels of adh and you drink "free water" = no salt ect and do not urinate...
Then then your sodium level will drop in realtion to your total body fluids.

This is one of the dangers of X.
Low sodium can cause mental status changes and seizures.

I have to say this is with massive consumption of water.

Its not just the amount you drink but how quickly you do it again - if you drank one large amount (Im not talking about a swimming pool) but a couple of ltrs I would say your body would manage to flush it out without much problem. Its when people are drinking large amounts one after the other the body simpl;y cant cant cope.

It then leads to water intoxication and then this screws up your sodium levels (hyponatremia).
