Too many cats, not enough dogs...

Do you have any pets?

How about a dog in a diaper?

Anyway, I just sold my last horse not too long ago and got rid of the two asshole cats I ended up with in January of '09. I rescued them thinking I would only have them for a while and ended up shelling out at least $1,000 on vet bills, food, toys, litter, etc. during an eight month period. I couldn't find anyone to take them because no one understandably wants cats (I guess I hang out with mostly "dog people"). They ruined all of my expensive furniture and I lost my deposit on my last apartment because of them ripping up the blinds, tearing up the carpet, etc. So needless to say, I got rid of them and now I am 100% petless.

I am thinking about becoming a foster parent for dogs in local shelters waiting for adoption though. This way I get to care for and love a dog while not having to be 100% responsible for it for its entire life, which is nice because I am still young myself and I am moving around a lot and whatnot. I don't think I'm in a position right now to properly care for an animal as I am in school, working, dating, hanging out... I am rarely home and don't have enough time to give an animal as much as it deserves. It really irks me when people get pets then leave them at home all day by themselves so yeah.

Thnx n3! We don't want to give her back in August!
But my dogs are confused as hell! Sassy likes the dogs, but
Willow never met one until mid January here! She growls and
hisses at them with the same ferosiousness as the first day she
saw them. She is completelydifferent than Sassy...we'll miss her.

Spork- Sassafras is a girl. :)

UserNameHere- I understand your cat frustrations.....
Cat pee is the worst smell to get rid of if the cat wasn't going in the litter box.
I just lost two cats in the last 3 years, and before they passed away of kidney stones and the other of old age and a liver problem, they went all over my new recroom and hallway stairs. After we ripped up the carpet, we had to sand the wood floor beneath it, bleach it and poly it. But.... I still love cats and it wasn't their fault.... they were both really ill.
Fostering pets sounds like a great idea, but like you mentioned, you do need to have time. Pets are like kids and need responsible caretakers. I have a neighbor that throws their dogs outside all day and night while they work and they never quit barking! I can't stand pet owners like them!

^^ Yep, our neighbours over the back fence have a golden retriever who, although they let her in the house, she has obviously had NO training, nor does she get ANY stimulation. They never ever play with her or take her for walks. She's just cooped up in their tiny yard all day while they're out. If she ever spies one of our cats, or hears me playing in the yard with my dog, she absolutely loses her shit and barks violently until it's like she's almost about to throw up!!!!! Just cos she's so fucking bored and irritable and highly-strung from the lack of stimualtion. It's fucking horrible :(

That is an excellent idea, and you should really really do it hun. So rewarding because you can tell that the doggies really appreciate it <3

This makes me so mad!! Why do people bother getting animals that they can't properly take care of? Animals don't stay cute little babies forever, and it can be a very sad life for the animal afterward once their "novelty" has worn off.

Sonic would LOVE to have a dog but we don't have one because we are not at home for at least 10 hours a day and our yard isn't adequate enough for a dog right now.

People who neglect their pets just piss me the fuck off. *grrrr*

I'm right there with both of ya purple and n3..... In fact it was
the last item of my very first Pet Peeve post!

I had to do somethin about three idiot dog owners
in my neighborhood.
I called the cops on the idiot in back of me who left
his poor Golden Retreivers out day and night.... the poor
things barked nonstop, they were freezing-one got loose
and run over by a car, the other was then taken care of
a little better.

"Dog Lady", who lives across from me, has
FOUR Goldens, she thought the neighborhood was her
dogs' toilet...at least she walked them, but
the property she walked them on to poop wasn't hers!
It's "ours", because I have to pay the *f-ing Associate Dues,
so it's technically 1/52 mine!
Her huge mistake was when her dog came running onto my
porch when my Mooshue was just 2 months old- shit in my yard.....
She sure the **** heard from me that day!
After more complaints, she finally fenced her yard and has to
clean up after her own dogs now- Ha Ha.

Lastly, idiot owner #3 threw their dogs outside who barked non-stop.
Even when they were home and should be going to sleep...i couldn't
stand their ignorance, so they got an annonymous letter from me.
The barking has now stopped...ahhhhhh, peace and quiet. I suggested
they give their dogs to a family who would really want them....
I think they did.

^ That probably all belongs on Pet Peeves, but maybe some people can
get some ideas to do something about irresponsible pet owners!!
Don't put up with it anymore!
Oh.... And there's a site where you can post things about your
Rotten Neighbor- that's also helpful to get it off your chest!!

On a lighter note.... let's see some more animals!!!
Post Post Post Post....:)

I've just moved in with a girl who owns a dog... lol

it's a cute little thing, but it follows you everywhere. even to the loo.

Not sure what the breed is - most likely I've asked & forgotten

I have 1 cat, his name is Falcor. He's 11 and he's such a naughty. <3 He's provided cuddles and love through some of the toughest times of my life. He's mah grumpy little old man. He also loves his adopted dad... in fact, i've never seen him as affectionte with anyone, it's awesome. :)

I have a pair of bluebirds currently building a nest!!!!
It may seem silly, but I'm so freaking excited!!!!!
I have never seen a bluebird in my life for real.
I've only seen pictures of them. Were those bluebirds
in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs??
The male is just gorgeous! :)
