Anyone have thoughts on Seroquel?

seroqul is so-so. o take 150mg XR and they do end up knocking me out but the bad part about the xrs is that they take FOREVER to kick in my doc told me to take it 4 hours before bed but if you take it about an hour before hand and chew it it will kick in kind of fast, but if you end up taking it too late then you end up sleeping all day and it sucks. i personally dont like seroqul

I really like it for sleep. Works in a half hour with no groggy feeling like I had with Ambien.
Although sleep its the only thing it is good for.
A+ for that

stay away from seroquel, as far as possible. Try something else. start waking up early and going to sleep at a set time, do it for 2 weeks, watch how things improve. stay away from sleeping aids, look what they did to eminem and countless others.

you speak for the masses! it is one horrible drug. i trust street drugs more than it

Have you tried the true horrific street drugs? Ever been on a 96 hour meth binge?

Also to seroquel being the worst anti psychotic, ever tried Geodon, ever experienced akathisia from zyprexa? Seroquel when prescribed properly is well tolerated vs the alternatives and it's sedating qualities are nearly un rivaled in it's class. If it is so horrible please explain why, I'm currently taking it again and would like to hear your story with it.

if you've been on a 96 hour meth binge, then you're too fucked up to be a good judge of how good or bad seroquel really is. But if u come from a pretty normal walk of life, like myself and the OP ( who needs it only for sleep purposes) then i can assure u that this drug is one of the worst in the industry, I was extremely social before going on this drug, but once on it i developed social anxiety and became withdrawn and weird paranoid feelings when walking outside during day and night. Many people have experienced similar shit, if not worst. It's been a year later and i am still battling the problems related to seroquel. The horror stories are endless just research it.

Most horrific antipsychotic I've ever ingested, and I've taken a lot.

Can you elaborate on why it was so horrific for you?

Just interested, cos I'm on 100mg's a night to help me sleep, and I haven't had any terribly bad side effects.

I've never been on meth ever. I was actually introduced to Seroquel during the time it was mandatory for me to walk a normal life; when I was in the USAF. They gave it to me when Ambien 12.5mg didn't work very well to help me sleep. They quickly turned to seroquel 25mg to treat my sleep issues.

I was later diagnosed with Bi-Polar, so Seroquel does does effect me differently than a lot of people. Even diagnosed Bi-polar and taking seroquel I can't say it's nearly as bad as it's being made out to be.

I do need to acknowledge the fact that there may be a link between seroquel and diabetes, though at 25mg you would need to have a some sensitivity to it for that to be a real risk. I would say at 100mg a little chance, and 400+ your in their marks for sure. So do a risk/benefit analysis and know all the facts before taking this medication, and I highly recommend that your 'bug' your doctor for an in depth discussion before he get's back to wherever they go so quickly and return from so slowly.

I wish u the best of health! Bi Polar is a tough disease, but you will pull through, you seem like a smart, rational and understanding person.

Peace and love right back at u!

Thanks a lot! Really appreciate the support, Bi-polar is rough. It's under control right now, seem to have found a combination of therapy and medications that work well for me.

CRAP.... i would stop taking them..... like now. fyi they actually reduce your seritonin and dopamine hence you feel like shit. if your not a schitzo then i would not take it. doctors giving drug addicts anti-psycotic meds to help them sleep.... whats the world coming to?

^ I don't see anything wrong with it at all. If I'm high on meth and need to comedown and sleep, Seroquel is ideal because it basically opposes the effects of methamphetamine in the brain. Meth is a dopamine/norepinephrine/serotonin agonist, while Seroquel is a dopamine/serotonin antagonist.

I used to take it just to get to sleep, but a couple days ago I found a stash of a few 300s Id hid, I took 1/4 of one so 75mg for the next 3 days and it turned me into a complete fucking asshole with no fuse whatsoever, it never did that before so idk wtf happened but I did it for the next 2 nights and realized that's what was causing it so I put the rest up for a rainy day when Im coming down off something

Curious to me to be prescribed for sleep as this is a psychotropic drug but yes, they will definitely knock you out. I am manic-depressive and was prescribed Seroquel as a mood stabilizer and, at one time, was taking 600 mg a day. It worked too well. I had NO emotion. There were instances I can remember thinking, "I should be feeling something right now but I'm not." Also, it made me eat everything in sight and finally I stopped taking it.

The hunger is worse than my actual disorder on seroquel.

I hate it. I don't want to talk to people. I hate being seen while I'm on it. I'm twice to three times as irritable. And, not to mention trying to get high while taking this. Your brain is like: What the fuck is dopamine and serotonin? Emotions, are you serious?

Exactly... if you take seroquel, you can forget about doing almost any stimulant.

Fortunately my night dose wears off by about midday, leaving me the afternoon and evening to get high. ;)

I've been on 600mg 2, 100mg in the morning, 100mg in the afternoon, 400mg at night. Now I'm down to 100mg at night and it knocks me out. Amazing back in the day I was functional at 200mg during the day. They were like a manic's benzos.

What I mean by that is; They sedated me and also treated my mania and eventual depression cycle. Though now after much therapy and quite a few medication changes, my mania is under control and I'm actually functional (6 months no episodes).

So, Seroquel as a sleeping pill, not recommended, but for treatment of a serious mental health disorder, it may work. Drugs work on everyone differently and I wish everyone the best in life.
