Mephedrone Megathread VIII: Hnnnng!

Skim listened - decent treatment of the subject. I'm amazed. Tony Snell sounded like he knew what was what.

I knew of those guys :\ their parents were friends with my grandma. I used to live near Scunthorpe and loads of my friends were friends with them. To be honest, something sounds very dodgy about the whole thing. 2 people in the same night off the same drug, and more are ill? Definitely seems like a dodgy batch/cut.

if you have a look disco it seems they took METHADONE and alcohol, pretty deadly combo right there

It seemd Channel 4 just backtracked there ? The intitial headline was about "the deadly drug" then the newsreaders seemed to say "it was first thought they died of etc etc" ?

It's only when journalists turn their attention to a subject in which you have some expertise that you realise they talk a load of old shite half the time.

Aye, it's made me doubt practically everything that is reported on the news or in the papers as I now know for a fact that a lot of the stuff they've recently printed about drugs have been total lies.

Yea scary to think a standard report on a current conflict or crisis or whatever could be so recklessly mishandled as drugs in the media.

Is the BBC actually democratic? Unbiased?
I grew up thinking BBC news and Channel 4 were totally unbiased. But realised gradually throughout the 90's that 4 tries hard to be unbiased and give some truth in what little time they have, BBC news, especially 6PM is sensationalist cobblers.
2 Youths die from taking legal high mephedrone.......and I say to my dad (who knows zero about any drugs beyond alcohol) I bet they drank very heavily and used something strong to come down....low and behold loads of booze and the green goo.
They could have taken 10 different legal highs and it would still have been the large amount of drink and who knows how much Meth.
Who mixes green goo with alcohol to sleep, unless they are unaware how strong it is? or have a death wish. Christ even I haven't tried this method yet.......and I've done some dodgy mixing for sure.

Panorama did an excellent programme on methadone about 20 years ago & about how it was killing loads of people in the NE

http://www.opioids.com/methadone/scarestory.html

It's a dangerous drug if used incorrectly.

I fully expect the papers & police to be full of warnings about the dangers of mixing methadone & alcohol tomorrow, eh?

Methadone & alcohol doesn't sell papers. KILLER DRUG MEOW MEOW does though.

I'm getting really annoyed with this confusion between Mephedrone and methadone....I know the spelling is similar but the drugs themselves are sooo different..........and then theres methedrone lol.......no wonder people get confused!......have to say though when it comes to drugs the media is a farce...

I suppose it was inevitable that something like this would happen. With the legal grey area it inhabited, it's sale's always hush hush so there just hasn't been enough information out there and even less sensible discussion but plenty of the usual self righteous, ignorant, middle class hysteria. Young lads like these just assume it's completely safe because you can get it on the internet and go crazy while Daily Mail readers think it's Satan's dandruff.

The stupid thing is that there's been evidence to suggest that it was more physically harmful than MDMA from the start yet it sems unlikely that the country as a whole will spot the link between banning stuff like MDMA and worse things coming along: the news seems to have singularly failed to mention the existence of methylone, butylone or any of the myriad of other drugs available on the same websites that flog meph so I doubt the RC peddlers will be crying into their beer, especially as they're potentially sitting on a goldmine if meph does get made illegal.

More likely that the whole sordid, pointless cycle will continue ad nauseam whilst these two young lads have become yet more casualties our country's outdated and gutless drugs laws.

RIP.

Do you really think the unfortunate casualties really didn't realise the difference between mephedrone and methadone tho? Or is it just another case of the media confusing the issue? (Obviously the similar names don't help the issue.)

when is this shit gonna be banned then? will have to stock up even though i don't really like doing it as it seems to make you lose several iq points every time you do it but i prefer it to anything illegal even if it just the price. you know what you're getting most of the time.
