The Big & Dandy First-Time-Tripper Thread

Hey tls. :)

Visual hallucinations caused by psychedelics are a very small part of what they do. It's in your thoughts and feelings where their main action lies.

I should mention many people (including myself) find mushrooms to be a very strong psychedelic; in some ways stronger than LSD. They can be a hard psychedelic for a beginner and many people (again including myself) feel LSD is actually an easier introduction to psychedelics than mushrooms. The LSD state tends to be clearer and easier to navigate. It also has more of a positive push to it. Just a thought to keep in mind.

Maybe you should read some trip reports on the subjects. There's lots in our Trip Reports forum and in the Erowid vaults that are linked in the first page of our Big & Dandy threads in the PD Index.

Oh yeah, one more thing: Dramamine is a delirient; not a psychedelic. Not even comparable. Psychedelics are much better and more pleasant experiences.

I couldn't agree more - I was talking to another bluelighter earlier this evening about this very same subject & suggested that visuals weren't really the point after being asked how visual i thought a certain print of acid was - my response was that one may see/visualise/hallucinate a wonderful dragon but if your feelings aren't of wonder/delight/awe then the dragon will be an interesting observation visually but nothing more.
Conversely if your feelings are in tune and are euphoric/contented delighted/deeply emotional and you see a "real" snail crawling along the path in the early light of dawn - the joy that this may bring can be tremendous - visuals are things you see - I'm into psychedelics for things that I feel, this is where for me the true beauty lies, in ones emotional reaction to stimulii whether internal or external it's all about that place & time when your heart & mind they meet ( & the circle is complete ;)). Our quality of life is largely about how we feel not about what we see.


I wanna feel great not just go to the pictures! %)
 
i just wish i was more experienced b4 i took the ayahuasca so that i could appreciate the more thoughts and feeling side of it, i think they got pushed to the side because the visuals were so intense...

tried ayahuasca again, but more concentrated...not a wise idea,threw up many times, bf collapsed on the stairs, and while trying to help him, started to go dark and dizzy mysefl and ended up being sick AGAIN!

thank god we had trip sitters!

may have to water it down if we do do it again. but tbh i want to hold out for when the acid comes back, still havent been able to try it :(

First time Psychedelic experience question?

Yo, what would you guys reccomend for a first time psych trip? i have tried salvia but not fully experienced visuals on it, i can get mushrooms off a mate but i've heard they are pretty intense for a first time?

any reccomendations?
 
Before anything I would reccomend weed

If you have already tried that I would then reccomend a low-med dose of acid .(this was my first psyc)

But why wouldn't I reccomend shrooms instead of acid ? Well acid is more of a clear headed high , where I find I can think straight and keep my cool..
With shrooms I feel more like "wooah , what the fuck " sort of feeling , when acid is quite chill .

Also with shrooms , I find paranoia can occur more easily if something goes wrong (e.g - your mom is calling you while tripping , or seeing a cop)

so yeah overall LSD I would reccomend
maybe a lower -medium dose to start off with .


But you could also try the 2cs which I am not to farmiliar with but I'm sure other bluelighters can tell you about them ?

I heard some are basically just visuals without much mental effects at all ..... But yeah I don't know to much about the 2cs...
 
I'd start with a tab or two of LSD , maybe around 2 grams of shrooms if acid's not easily available

But Salvia is kind of weird and not the most friendly of psychs , deff not the best for enetering the world of psychedlia. You'll probably love shrooms , just dont dose to heavy until your ready for it :)

Depends on the blotters potency , but I find i need at least two with most batches .

With one im usually left a little underwhelmed
 
The only thing thats putting me off shrooms and LSD is the whole "Bad trip" does this occur alot? or does it depend on the scenario? im only planing to just experiment in my room with a few mates.
 
It depends on your set and setting. If you're in good spirits, feel like exploring yourself a bit and are in good company in a comfortable location, then 1.5 or 2 blotters (depending on strength) could make for an excellent first trip.

I do tend to think that some of the 2C-x compounds would make for a gentler introduction, but those are bit harder to come by than LSD or mushrooms.
 
I'd recommend you start with a low-dose of LSD. As others have said, mushrooms tend to grab you by the balls and go. Before you know it you'll get that "WTF" feeling and wishing you could just be straight for a minute, but you can't. With LSD you're much more clear headed and can 'control' the trip easier. For the first hour you'll feel giggly and have a grin on. Lights become brighter and colors deeper & everything thing just feels better and more interesting. The come-up on L is similar to the come up of E. After you start tripping everything will take on deep intricate fractal shapes and you'll be pretty tranced, but in a positive way.

Def. LSD > Mushrooms

Bad trips come more often with higher doses. Just put yourself in a comfortable situation around people that have experience with tripping. DON'T go to a club/rave/party, as all the sensory input (and drunk fools) can be somewhat overwhelming.

One thing I'm going to have to disagree with the other posters on starting with 2 tabs. Take 1 tab and take another 1 in an hour if you're not feeling it. Now I realize that depending on your location some weak LSD has been floating around. But in the last couple of months I've seen a fairly large amount of sheets going out that are 100+ mcgs. That last thing you want to do is eat 2 POTENT doses and launch to the moon.

and adding to the thing you said about shrooms .... When i did them i had an amazing profound trip , but i guess this was partly because i knew what to expect from shrooms , as i had done acid before . . .

Set and setting matters sooo much .. I did shrooms out side and had a crazy euphoric trip .
BUT i also found with shrooms that if the slightest thing goes wrong on your trip (for example , my mom called me ) , you can start panacing and getting paranoid , and if you dont know how to control these feelings they CAN lead to a bad paranoid filled trip . . 8)
 
LSD is by far the most balanced psychedelic and as such that is what I tend to recommend first timers.

1.5-2 hits depending on the strength and your personal experience.
 
All depends on the dose and how confident you are with it. Start with a low dose and see how you feel.

I've had 1 dose and felt fantastic and I've had 4 doses and almost shit myself. You need to experiment a little.
 
Intensity of any psychedelic can be controlled by dosage. There is not such a thing as "X psychedelic is more intense than Y psychedelic". Go for mushrooms. It's a good psychedelic with mild side effects and it'll come in handy when later discussing with brickheaded people who consider psilocybin, LSD, DMT and mescaline the only true psychedelics, bestowed with spirits and whatnot.

If you go for LSD, ask around to determine the potency first. It might be true that most tabs are so weak that a first-timer could take 2, but much stronger tabs do circle as well.
