^No problem. It's not something I can really explain fully in one post per say, but I'll give you some basic Catholic/Christian related imagery (I have other religions I can explain and show evidence for, but I'll stick to Christianity for now unless you would like more), some Bible excerpts/explanations and a documentary you can watch when you get a chance (that will explain it much better than I could in one post or even a few):
Few basic facts:
Jesus is always looking to his right (on the cross) Sun rises in the East
The idea of the 3 wise men is astrological in origin; the four animals around Christ represent the four cardinal signs of the Zodiac. The 3 wise men (or shepherds) properly known as kings, represent the constellation of Orion through which the soul of "great kings" was believed to incarnate and then depart. The figure of the virgin Mary represents the night sky. Christ is born into the sign of Virgo, aka, "The Virgin," Joseph the Carpenter looks towards the heavens.
12 Apostles + Jesus = 13, 12 Signs of The Zodiac + Sun = 13. Jesus being an anthropomorphism of the Sun.
Bible excerpts pertaining to the Mushroom and visual evidence:
Exodus 16::
Manna - a small round thing on the ground that appears after the morning dew and turns to mush when the sun waxes hot.
Ezekiel 4:15:
Then he said unto me, Lo, I have given thee cow's dung for man's dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread therewith.
John 6:
I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world. Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died, whoever eats this bread will live forever.
Unfortunately, the newer international versions of the Old Testament no longer say "small round thing" as did the King James, but it says "small flakes on the ground" and it will probably change again in later versions. The point is, this manna changes throughout the passage of time and interpretations always move this "Bread of Life" a little farther away from the mushroom...
Exodus 16:3
And the children of Israel said to them, O that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh-pots, and when we did eat bread to the full: for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger
into this wilderness midbar (mid-bawr')
a pasture (i.e. open field, whither cattle are driven); by implication, a desert; cow pasture.
Two things; when the Mushroom is in its final stage, it begins to concave and then resembles a goblet shaped cup. So, if morning dew is sitting in there for a while it will be a translucent red. This is where the idea of drinking the "blood of Christ" comes from. Although, I doubt anyone would drink the dew in recent times after finding an Amanita Muscaria, when they could just eat the mushroom itself. It was more ritualistic to drink the "blood" rather than actually being necessary.
Jesus being a dualistic anthropomorphism of both the Sun and the Amanita Muscaria mushroom. As the story of Jesus depicts the experience of "death" and re-birth after consuming an A. Muscaria (and many other psychedelics that also give a similar "ego-death" or ++++ experience)
Also, centuries ago, consuming mushrooms were mainly for the rich, as you can tell by some of the earliest forms of currency which featured mushrooms (Liberty Caps) or the Caduceus on the coins. The Caduceus is still used today for the exchange of "drugs." Therefore, peasants would also want to be able to experience the effects of the active Mushroom. It wasn't very uncommon for a peasant to drink the urine of a person who consumed the Amanita Muscaria, because they would also get the same effects as one who had eaten it.
Visual evidence on this occult knowledge:
medieval artwork showing emperor Constantine
Christian artwork featuring the "sacred mount"
The Great Canterbury Psalter, as shown below, clearly depicts Jesus as the guardian of the sacred mushrooms Amanita Muscaria, Psilocybin Cubensis, and other plants; Syrian Rue Pod (Peganum-Harmala), even Opium Poppy Pods
The Red Mushroom on the right is clearly the A. Muscaria. The next one is obviously the Psilocybin Cubensis, because it's Blue. The one after that strikes a resemblance to a Syrian Rue pod, shaped as a Mushroom, which happens to match this in color as well as similar structure. On the left it appears to be the depiction of an Opium Poppy, only pictured as a Mushroom.
Here is the full portrayal of the Canterbury Psalter, illustrating the very familiar story of Genesis in the 12 signs of the Zodiac. The sacred mushrooms and plants are seen throughout the story.
Notice in the 8th window pane, there is a large Green "Mushroom" that the Jesus-like character presents to "Adam and Eve," perhaps this is Cannabis?
Also, in the 9th segment. It's the scene of Eden with the Serpent. The entwined staff is actually the stem of the Mushroom itself. At first it looks sort of like the A. Muscaria, but also appears to be much like the Psilocybe Mushroom. However, when we zoom in closer, it seems as if there's many different tiny Mushrooms inside of the larger mushroom.
