My gf will be leaving to her family in another town for a while, so I thought I could trip at her place, alone. But I'm worried about two things at her place:
1. She has a cockatoo, which sometimes starts squealing quite loud when it wants attention (food or something else) and I'm worried it might freak me out and I wouldn't know how to react. Or would it actually be an interesting experience?
2. She has a "dumb" woman for her neighbour, who yells at her children quite often, which creates negative emotions even when sober, so I can imagine how it could impact me when tripping.
Would you consider these as big enough problems not to trip at her place (especially being alone) and should I try to convince my gf to be my sitter for these reasons?
This is your first trip? Cool. Glad to hear the tribe has another member
But wait, you're doing it yourself? Hmm.... As an experienced tripper, I can definitely tell you that this is something to reconsider. I've never had a "sober sitter" with me, but have always had at least one other person along for the ride. I can definitely tell you right now, that the company is your safety net.
I once tripped with a large-ish group at my place, during which event everybody except my brother decided to go to Maccas (they had one sober person driving and one incredibly irresponsible tripper driving - I don't hang around with that guy much), and both cars were full, so I end up left alone, at home, because I was "too slow to get a seat". It was hell, until my brother had the presence of mind to sit me in front of the Xbox and start a game for me.
Without that I would have panicked. (That said, abandonment usually leaves me feeling VERY apprehensive)
I don't recommend tripping alone for your first time; however at an absolute minimum you will need to
have the ability to get in contact with someone sympathetic to your situation.
On the topic of your two points:
1) Dealing with animals can be a little tricky, but if you're fairly familiar with it you should be fine. You probably won't know how to react though, since that happens even with
human-to-human communication while tripping.
2) This is a show-stopper in my books. This is exactly the kind of thing that can turn a benign / positive trip into a spiral-dive. If you can't guarantee that this won't happen, don't put yourself in this situation.
Especially on your first time. You were warned.
