Turn that FROWN upside down jnr, or not. Why the upside down smile?

If only we knew someone who could shed light on the inner workings of such an organisation...

* Cues superhero music.

I probably just insulted someone - so if you work for Vodafone please be aware I didn't say 'entirely' staffed by morons.

I went to book my licence test today and the RTA told me I still have another six months to go on my green Ps. What the motherfucking fuck. I'm not sure how that's right, but obviously there's nothing I can do about it.

This means I will have spent nearly nine years on my Ps. NIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNEEEEE. FFS.

^ Nine years?! How the hell did you end up on them for that long?

I was unaware you had to take a test to get off your P's, I thought the time expired and you were just fully licensed. I live in Melbourne though so maybe its different here.

$4500 to fix a front tooth crown or grin like a broken toothed, slack jawed yokel for the rest of my life :(

^ Dentists are fucking thieves I tell you. I was born with several teeth having no adult teeth behind them and so I still have a few baby teeth.

Would cost me a cool 20 grand to get teeth from a cadaver implanted into my mouth. Fucking bastards.

Do you have any idea how a dental practice is run? Doctors have all their equipment paid for them by hospitals, etc, but a dentist buy all his or her own. Most dentists work at a single or double practice and have to pay the rent for the entire area, and there's many other costs for which they can't get bulk discounts. It's also not their fault that Medicare doesn't cover dental work.

There are good and bad people in all industries.

Where do you live? Egypt 2000 BC? There isn't a surgeon in Australia who wouldn't use a sterile, machine milled titanium implant in a human. Cheaper than a good second hand car and will last a lifetime.

Well I have to get it done at the dental hospital not some small dentists practise. Also if it was done before I was 18 it would have been covered but they insisted my jaw/teeth/whatever aren't fully developed until I was 18.

As though I couldn't have got it a week or 2 weeks before my 18th birthday! That would of made no appreciable difference but they would rather rape my pockets instead of helping somebody out.

Busty I thought they still used dental implants from dead people? Either way it doesn't make any difference.

Every six months or so I used to happily think to myself "I'm so glad Hey Hey it's Saturday is no longer on, it was such a terrible piece of crap". This has been taken from me.

Dental surgeons don't work in shitty practices. They spend all their days operating on people. That's why they're called surgeons.

..will last a lifetime.
Once you have this done you shouldn't have any [related] issues for the rest of your life. It doesn't sound that expensive when you think about it in that light, does it?

.

I was going say it sounded like something a wack job University researcher would try and do. They are like Vets, even if it fails they still are happy because they get to write a paper. On the otherhand Vets still get paid when their patients die. Plus they get to bury their mistakes themselves ;)

The cutting edge stuff at the moment involves growing whole teeth from patients stem cells and implanting them. The Japanese are leading the way in this field but given the need for years of peer review I can't imagine this being done commercially for 15-20 years. They are still debating some products because there is only 10 years of research data.

A ten tooth bridge attached to 4-5 implants would replace all your top teeth for around $25000 (depending upon bone grafts).

Its so cold and windy here today :(

I really hope it's not like this all weekend, I'm having 2 extra days off, and I would like a little bit of sunshine!

I have holes in most of my teeth and if I was to get the work done they need I literally couldn't eat or have a social life for at least 2 years. I just deal with the pain. No reason why the government couldn't at least start the workings of a dental care plan with the amount of money that is wasted on shit.

Dentistry is tantamount to private health care. For the general middle-lower class Australian it's unreachable.

Flouride water... Free

Oral B tooth brush....$3.50

Colgate 2 in 1 Whitening toothpaste...$6.00

Waxed floss $3

Being reminded by your mum to brush your teeth twice a day..... Priceless

If you imagine that every tooth in your head is a natural gem worth $2000 dollars then I'm sure more people would look after them. Dental decay is a preventable disease. Even for the poor. It is often diet and laziness that results in high bills.

It is a crook, but after you use the 2 in 1 stuff you can't go back. It polishes the shit out of your enamel and feels soooooo good. I don't endorse many products but this stuff rocks. And you can sit it upside down and not waste any.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it does nothing, I still use it though (but pay $9 for sensodyne - ouch).

That's good reasoning Busty. Unfortunately I did all the damage drinking all weekend every weekend when I was 18-21. By the time I noticed anything it was already too late. Since I realised I had damaged them I have brushed and mouth washed twice a day and flossed once a day and in 5 years they haven't got any worse. So sound advice for you youngsters.

I'll start getting my teeth done when I start earning at least 50K a year which should definitely be in the next few years.
