I dunno. She's a fairly young doctor and very by-the-book. She's said or otherwise implied a few times that I'm one of the worst cases in the clinic.

She's set me up for a "case conference" at the hospital, which is a once weekly thing where over a dozen different psychiatrists and psychologists interview the patient and then discuss treatment options. This is normally reserved for inpatients that are proving difficult to treat.

Normally I'd say she's bullshitting but I really don't feel she is. I can only hope she has my best interests at heart and is not just being closed-minded.

Interestingly enough, somebody posted this equivalency chart in another thread, and it's from the same medical school that she apparently teaches at (I just learned this today). Maybe I can get a bit of insight from that.
 
clonazepam is probably the best for day to day anxiety, little sedation and other effects, mostly just pure anxiolytic effects. Your doctor obviously takes cocks up his shithole if he wont give it to you.
 
Phatass-- I agree with you that if Valium doesn't help someone then they probably don't have anxiety issues...
 
Emjay-- I'm really sorry to hear that your psychiatrist won't let you try diazepam or something else. I wuold think she would say okay because diazepam is one of the easier benzos to taper from.

I know what ya mean when you say that you couldn't really remember anything because your anxiety was so bad. I used to get that a lot, but not so much lately.

I know it sucks but sometimes it takes some time until you find the right med for you. Maybe when you speak to the other psychiatrists they will see that you are not reacting well to the clonazepam.

valium i believe, that is not a common outpatient benzo in the united states. xanax on the other hand, she must prescribe. just because she isn't considering it for you doesnt mean she is close minded though. it's not the best preemptive benzo. it might not be suited for your GAD. but she has patients with severe panic attacks (as in think they can't breath and fold down onto the floor) that she prescribes xanax. she must. if not, what a nut.
 
^ That is not true at all. I know plenty of doctors that strictly don't pescribe xanax.
 
whatever. i believe it. but if by "plenty of doctors" you mean plenty of psychs, what a bunch of quacks. how could you choose to specialize in treating those with mental disorders and then refuse to consider an fda approved treatment for any of your patients no matter how well they fit the bill and did not satisfactorily respond to other treatments? you'd have to be a fucking quack.
