When I drink, I sometimes gets OEVs. Nothing too strong, but it's enough to make me come here to ask about it.

I was sitting in front of his T.V. and noticed that it started expanding. Like a small dose of LSD. It would go from |---| to |------| to |----------| and then to |-|. Usually that's the kind of visuals I get. Things just expand and contract a lot.

Is this normal for people who drink ethanol?

that is awesome, but the only thing that I can think of that is related to alcohol is Delirium tremens, the hallucinations that come from serious ethanol withdraw.... butttt obviously you were ingesting ethanol at the time so even if you were a serious alcoholic that would make sense.

Also, maybe you were drinking something like absinthe? just an idea, the thujone in the wormwood in the absinthe can induce hallucinations

Nope, just bud light and jager on one occasion. It's like my brain turns ethanol into lsdanol or something. =D

I also seem to have a VERY low tolerance to cannabis. Whenever I smoke just a few hits of good mid, I get insanely bombed. I get full-on CEVs and everything.

ahh it's probally the bud rather than the alchohal then, i've heard of people getting light visuals with weed, i mean i don't get visuals tripping shrooms unless i smoke lots of weed... so that buds gotta be doin' something trippy

Oh, I meant Bud Light. Like the beer.

When I was in college, I had an O chem proff. I approached him after lecture and asked him how alcohol produces its "psychotropic effect." I think we were discussing primary, secondary, and tertiary alcohols or something like this. Anyway, what I was trying to ask is what is the mechanism of action of EtOH in the nervous system. What he told me was interesting. He said that it is theorized that EtOH conjugates with an endogenous indoleamine similar to DMT and this is responsible for alcohols "psychedelic effect," as he put it. This, I think, was after he showed us how to resolve amphetamine into its isomers using tartaric acid.;) Anyway, I have experienced visual distortions with alcohol at high doses but I wouldn't characterize them as being LSD like per say. EtOH is a dirty drug effecting many substrates though and its mechanism of action awaits to be elucidated fully. Keep in mind that it blocks NMDA neurotransmission among other things.

... i understand... and i mean bud... as in weed. i understand that you were smoking cannabis and drinking ethanol alcohol, haha.

I think he is referring to the weed as a seperate instance, not related to the alcohol and visuals, not that he was drinking and smoking at the same time

Besides double vision....no, alcohol has no hallucinogenic porperties. Nor does absinthe/wormowwod/thujone either...

Really? i've always heard that absinthe induced some-sort of hallucinations, though i have never tried it myself so i wouldn't know.

P.S. 50 POSTS!!!!! I'M A MOOOOOTHHHHERRRRRRRFFFFUUCKKIINNNN BLUELIGHTTTTERRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my mom must be so proud right now....

OH! haha, I didn't mean I did them both together. I'd be too scared to mix anything with marijuana. I already feel like I'm about to have a seizure just on marijuana itself.

still says youre a greenlighter. i dont ever remember having oev type visuals on alcohol, but those visuals you are talking about could just be your brain farting for a second while you are drunk. sometimes i will be in my garage taking out the cans/bottles and imagine my car door light or the garage door to be open, but when I look back it is not.

Everybody reacts differently to drugs, your just more susceptible to visual effects apparently. I get the average blurry vision when I drink and I can get CEV's after smoking a lot of weed. Me and my friend took the same amount of DXM one time, and I get many CEV's and he only saw one. It depends on the person and isn't the same in everybody. It's a very subjective matter. Although alcohol has a pretty set-in-stone affect, it still applies.

How is it normal? Have you experienced this before?

Also: why stay away on a regular basis?

Sorry for the questions, but your comment confuses me a bit. =]

When people mix weed and alcohol it's normal to have OEV of a certain kind, but is markedly different from most other psychedelics. Alcohol is more of a dissociative, but I have known people to hallucinate when they get drunk (to a very high degree of drunkenness while stoned too I will add) i.e. see and talk to people that aren't there.

Stay away from alcohol on a regular basis because I know several people with horrible drinking problems. One of them experienced Delirium Tremens as a result of acute alcohol withdrawal. It wasn't fun to be the roommate of this person while they were going through this, I will say. It must have been tormenting for her though.

The more RC's and other psychedelics one has done, the more likely you are to have OEV's from other drugs or other experiences.

Ah, I see. Well, I haven't done too many psychedelic drugs or RCs. I guess I just have something awesome in my brain that many others don't have. :]

If I do happen to get DT from acute alcohol withdrawal, I will definitely stay away from alcohol. :]

Thanks everone <3
