who i should go for in NHL?

If we're talking about the finals, go for the Penguins.

It's fucking boring to watch the Red Wings waltz through another season and win another cup, it's like hearing the same bedtime story again for the 1,000th time. At least Anaheim nearly took them out, that was an awesome series with a tragic ending :( Anaheim's my favorite team.

it's understandable that people would say that it's boring watching the same team win year after year, but at the same time, i disagree. i don't mind it so long as they're giving us good hockey. the red wings certainly earn their championships. they're the model franchise. they have good ownership, management, coaching, scouting, talent, and everything in between.

though obviously, i'd rather see the jackets win it. :)

I can see what you're saying, and I think that's why I liked the series with detroit vs. anaheim so much, even though my favorite team lost. It was good, evenly matched hockey that kept you on the edge of your seat literally up until the last minute of game 7.

now, forgive me if i'm wrong, but didn't the ducks and wings play a REALLY good series either last year or the year before too? i'm hard pressed to remember at the moment and i'm too lazy to check up on it.

I think so, if I remember correctly. I didn't really follow the last season too much, but in the last few years the Ducks have really gotten their act together and have become a respectable team.

I remember when I was a kid (around 13, 14 years old...back in the late 90's) watching the Ducks play and getting pretty much slaughtered year after year, lol. I think they only made the playoffs once or twice back then and each time they'd get swept in the first round. When they won the cup a couple seasons back I was finally proud to say I'm a ducks fan haha :D

I wonder what ever became of Paul Kariya though...him and Teemu were a lot of fun to watch back in the day. They used to have this play where after a face-off in their zone, Kariya would take off down the ice and Selanne would chip the puck up in the air to him and he'd go score on a breakaway :D

those two were the balls in their hay days. selanne's still a threat. kariya was playing with nashville for a while, then went to st. louis, but i'm not sure what came of him after that. i didn't watch many games outside of the jackets so i didn't follow the rest of the league as closely as i usually do, but i know kariya played VERY little last season. i honestly don't remember if he was hurt, not performing, or what. obviously he's past his prime, but i'd think he still has something to offer teams looking for depth and veteran leadership so who knows.

phoenix coyotes.. there so good!!! :p

just kidding.. def Detroit.. one of the only lasting things in that city ;)

^ i don't know, i hear the crime rate's pretty constant. =D

phoenix has a lot of potential, they just can't seem to put it together. not to mention, they're a failing franchise. i think they nhl would have already given up on that team if wayne gretzky didn't have his hands in the water.

well during the regular season you should definitely go for the NY Rangers...they have a pretty amazing goalie

as for right now, tomorrow is game 7 of the Stanley Cups Finals, go for the Penguins, it would be nice to see Detroit lose a year :)

haha also not to mention they might get bought by some Canadian fella for like a couple hundred million dollars.

until next year when the Red Wings are in the Stanley Cup Finals yet another god damn time...

that would be hilarious to see another Pittsburgh/Detroit Final. I don't think it's that far-fetched.

ironically enough, many sports suits say that beside Canda, Detroit and Pittsburgh are the only cities that care about professional hockey like they care about other big league sports.

man... those Pittsburgh fans are hardcore. I just got back from a pool hall where I saw a dude with a Steelers tattoo. but he had his sleeve rolled up because he just got a huge Penguins tattoo with their logo on his upper arm, still fresh.

I would change your mind and root for the Penguins, portillo ;)

You should go for Detroit Red Wings. Why? Because they are a team if there ever was one. No one on that team is out to prove anything above the team, they work together so well and create such an insane amount of shot opportunities through teamwork. They win all the time so you never have to get bored watching your team.

Go Wings.

Forget about jumping on band wagons and having to mingle with thugs and criminals. Any one can support a team that wins year in year out, just ask Maunchester United. A team should be supported for life, not just because the are flashy for a couple of seasons. You should support a team that has class, history and a swag of cute French speaking women as fans... Montreal Canadiens.

Being one of the foundation clubs they have a solid history in the NHL, being the oldest continuously operating professional ice hockey team and the only continuously operating club to predate the founding of the NHL, as well as many Stanley Cup victories in the bank. So what if they haven't won it since the early 90's, if anyone in a bar rags on your team you can always boast about the great teams of the 70's or Hall a famers such as Howie Morenz.

Lets not forget about the great mascot Youppi, who is also in the Baseball Hall of Fame!

OK, I'm biased because I had a French Canadian nanny when I was young and she bribed me with maple suryp and a husky voice bought on by chain smoking...=D

I will bump this because I am a glutton for punishment......I couldnt watch game 7, I had to listen in my car to an AM station that faded in and out and I sat for like 5 minutes without even knowing the game was over......

Detroit would be a good start, I mean, its Hockeytown.
Minnesota Wild as well, I mean, its the State of Hockey.
Cant go wrong with either one above.
Just dont try to rout for Teams whos franchises are nothing but go money getters. (Places that have teams in areas where hockey doesnt have a strong threshold or my personal favorite, where they done even have snow! :X)
