MO, Salem - August 13-16 2009 - Underground Sound 5

I will say that I LOVE ZOE. I will miss the magnificant view of the Main Stage but I will not miss Bob, Overflowing Porta Potties, and the lack of running water. Zoe is so gorgeous and clean. They also have staff to assist with people who have had just a little too much fun. I have been a supporter of Zoe and the The Schwag would made this venue possible.

That being said. To the people who want more psytrance and Chill music, I will be running the psychedelic stage. I am currently looking for people who want to be apart of this Sound Camp.

Here is the information:

Divination - A Psychedelic Soundcamp

Divination - the attempt to gain insight into a question or situation by way of a standardized process or ritual

This year we are doing things a little different and we are excited for the changes that are happening to this premier Electronic Music Festival.

Catalytic Souls has secured a new venue that will accommodate the ever-growing festival that will provide natural beauty and consciousness for your experience.

Like everything in life, this event will be starting new and adapting and growing to the new surroundings. It is important for all of us to pull together and help this show plant the roots needed to grow into a successful show.

This year, Sound Camps have been established in place of your typical “side-stage”. Collaborative efforts and intense planning are in the works to create the ultimate experience. Each camp will provide a communal shade structure, sound, networking and relationship opportunities. It will also provide an asylum to call home base during the event, and a chance to be a part of the production of this show.

If you would like to volunteer your time to provide music, art and entertainment to the specific theme of this camp, please be able to provide one or more things below. If you can provide anything not listed that could be beneficial to the camp, please list that as well.

Areas of Interest are:

1. Dj’s playing Psytrance, Ambient/Downtempo/IDM, Dubstep, Dub Breaks, and Minimal Techno

2. Experienced and safety-trained Fire Performers

3. Dancers/Hoopers

4. People to lead Yoga and Meditation

5. People to bring psychedelic artwork& tapestries etc.

We request that you provide this information with submission:

Name

Phone Number

Location

Services/Genre

Performing Name

DEMO highly recommended.

Any other additional Information you feel like is important knowledge.

Please email this information to: [email protected]

NOTE: Because of the new changes to this event, we are stressing the voluntary aspect of performing at the designated sound camp. The crews involved in the major planning of the sound camp have been given resources to provide quality equipment, sound, and other items to ensure a pleasant experience.

Thank You

Faith

These are some well recognized problems. Last year I was prohibited (by the owners) from having the licensed security team out there. I still hired in several as EMTs as some were licensed for both, but bob would run them out of the park every chance he got. I won't go into the rest online. Needless to say that is one of the reasons for the move. It's not that it is inherent to the venue and could not be corrected, but that the promoters are not permitted to do so. Seems ludicrous right? Common sense would suggest a venue owner to want just the opposite... The stages have long been an issue. I do not like thinning the crowd and reduced the number greatly from UGS1, but there are so many that want to be a part. Even with 4-5 stages we still turn down a dozen or so crews and hundreds of DJs each year. We also don't get much of the cross pollination that they were designed to produce. This year we will have them camps, some of which are registered to have sound systems. These camps will each provide a unique environment for people to be a part of and want to see regardless of knowing the line-up or having heard of the djs performing at any given moment. I hope everyone works to make this a more participatory event. We are now moving to a peaceful haven where all should feel free to express themselves creatively and become a working part of the show.
Oh yeah and we have some superb acts that are going to rage it on a pristine sounding Vdosc rig for the main stage;)

Sick, Much love man. See you there!

BIG UPS on the Keith Mackenzie booking!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just a heads up:

It looks like we may run out of VIP by May 15th. So if you guys that have VIP have friends you want to camp with you, you better make sure they get their tix soon.
Tom

so far the lineups beyond sick, bassnectar/eoto/ tomfoolery/ ASTRAL PROJECTION! last year you brought george acosta to the cave and i really hope you bring another amazing well known trance dj so far everything looks good and i am extremely happy with the lineup so far but everything i have asked for so far you have miracuosly provided me with ( i said i wouldnt come unless bassnectar came, and i also said i wouldnt come unless astrix or astral projection attended) so i can only dream that you will book some badass trance dj and hopefully evol intent again.

keep the good work up tomfoolery you run the electronic dance scene in the midwest

for sure real stoked for the lineup thus far...hope that posford gets added though that would just be super sick.

thanks tomfoolery for all you have done and keep doing for UGS...big ups to you.

i for one love camp zoe i think its one of the best venues in the country, i was excited that it got moved out from the cave to here. i mean not knockin the cave or anything...but ya its just got outta control as previously stated.

ill be heading out there with chewy and the supernatural artist crew...see ya'll there!

vago you coming out?

I really hope astral projection has a long long set, same with bassnectar, their my 2 highlights other than tomfoolery and tom is astral projection for sure coming? i haven't seen them post anything on their website/myspace.

I WILL BUY MY TICKET AS soon as there is a line up posted... fond memory's of the past 2 years

skylab,uberzone ,computer club,Shpongle

i hope the set is worth the drive... i know the people will be!

ya big fan of lorin too a real real long bassnectar set would be sweet. eoto from night to morning wouldn't upset me either.

astral is the other highlight for me thus far. interested to see who else gets added

ok so astral projection should be sweeeeet!! kinda sketched though since skazi (isreali psy) was "confirmed" for last year and didn't show.. though i dont enjoy his music anyway. so yeah lets cross our fingers since live psytrance is NEEDED at zoe!!!!!!

super stoked for bassnectar.. duh! and although i love EOTO so much its just hard to get excited since they play this state soooooooo much, it seems like a "premeir" idm event should try to get artists that rarely come out of the studio and blow the minds when they do!!!!!!!

I also think that the lineup is looking good and I hope they work on getting one act from each genre (breakcore, drum & bass, ambient dub) to do "live" sets on the main stage...... some of us just arent as excited to see someone jam a couple of turntables these days.. I'm not doggin I'm just speakin my mind.

Also.. for the psy camp mentioned above.. what on earth does dubstep have to do with psychedelic music???? 8) not saying all boundaries and genres cant be crossed and infused but if the theme of the camp is psy then I just dont get it.. I'm sure many other camps will be playin dubstep :|

The cave was always a good time. It's impossible to make everyone happy, and plan for every possible mishap that may occur. As someone who's worked personally w Tom et al, I know that he does do everything possible to provide the best experience for all. Sucks that it has to be moved, but these things happen. One thing is for sure though... I know Tom and his crew is gonna bring some sick-ass talent. Big up y'all. Wish this shit wasn't 23 hours away :(

wow, I didn't realize how many problems there were at the cave. I've never been to UGS and I was tempted to go after hearing about the cave and stuff (my carbondale friends have gone every year), but some of the horror stories I've heard about the staff there make me glad it's at camp zoe. it adds another 2 hours to the drive but i guess that's the price for safety eh?

I has VIP ticket (ordered, not mailed to my house yet).

I has outfits for thursday, friday, saturday, and sunday.

I has camping equipment.

I has sleepy wear/yoga wear.

Have been too a few schwags and love camp zoe but this looks much more up my alley. Cant wait for bassnectar.

I've been the passed two years, and after last year I swore I was not coming back again because it was simply out of control. That is until I heard it was at Zoe. For you guys in indiana and ohio who are so addicted to the cave, just wait till you see zoe, it is seriously my favorite place to party, even better than the playa, we're talking about showers, grass, trees, mountains, caves, paths and a spring fed stream running right through the center of the thing with a big rocky beach and all that. Finally UGS will have enough room to stretch out and spread its wings. The cave just wasn't big enough for all the people that came last year. That will not be a problem at Zoe. Oh and also Tom and the boys totally showed what was up this year at the Midwest Burn. We got this shit. Just buy your tickets and show up.

I dunno mang, the last few times I've seen Tech Itch, it's been pretty bad. I would have hoped for a better dnb headliner than that (Aphrodite? Reid Speed? Evol Intent? Hello? Is this thing on?).
