The Big & Dandy HPPD Thread

My friend (whom we'll call GK, short for Ginger Kid) has permanent visual distortion. He can go weeks without psychedelic use and still see crazy shit in the textured ceilings walls, wood grain, anything that makes ya giggle on mushrooms. THAT is absolutely HPPD.

You guys should look up the word disorder. It means a functional abnormality or disturbance. Hence, if the persisting visuals are not interfering with your normal everyday functioning, it is by definition not HPPD.

word, it has to cause significant distress and suffering to the individual or those in their life. the only time that has happened to me has been while driving, enough so to force me over to the side of the road.

then that is hppd dude. I tend to think that my symtpoms aren't as bad as alot of others, but does that mean they dont cause me distress? fuck no it doesn't.

What about afterimages and visual static, is that increased sesnitivity? (afterimages not after closing eyes) I can just look at an enviroment, look to the side, and the outline of that enviroment is lingering infront of what I am now looking at for the next few seconds. And in dark rooms I see yellow blue and white static. Is that just eye sensitivity? Cause my eyes are really bad, bad vision and i'm mildly colorblind, so this morning I was laying down looking around my walls and ceiling etc. looking at these phenomena's and I was thinking it might be a mixture of HPPD and my bad eyes, or maybe lsd just even made my eyes more sensitive to things that are always there. But definately something has fucking changed since I've done mushrooms and acid.

NOTE: I AM NOT TRYING TO SAY THAT IM A SUFFERING INDIVIDUAL, JUST AN INDIVIDUAL WITH SOME ANNOYANCE

hppd is not a problem with your eyes, its a problem with your brain. VS, afterimages, all that jazz are symptoms of HPPD. sorry friend!

just trying to get this thought out, anyone notice that the set of there psychedelic drug use being more plagued by their hppd? as oppose to other areas where they never used psychedelics.

i dont understand what you're asking. Someone with real HPPD would not even think about doing psychedelics again or even have the DESIRE to WANT to do them.

Nope.

Did about 25 DXM trips, maybe 7 2C-E trips, smoked weed off and on, blown through a gram of DiPT (hallucinogenic actually at high doses), and put down a bunch of benadryl a couple times.

Never really had anything linger or stick with me.

i am unsure whether what i see is psychosis or hppd. stuff is almost always moving around, surface areas stretching a little bit, things move in relation to each other and reading is a pain in the ass due to movement. smoking weed always makes it "worse" but i have learned to enjoy it. i've read that benzos can alleviate these symptoms? could i just go to my doctor and get a script for valium?

Why not? I haven't read through this entire thread so maybe I skipped over it. But what are the dangers that are followed by developing HPPD? I definitely have it. And I like it, and it hasn't stopped me from wanting to take psychedelics again.

I feel the same way about it , I have never stopped for more than 6 months though so I'm actually not entirely sure I have it. But my best guess is that I probably do to some extent or another.

I am curious to how this happens. Permanent tracers, visual disturbances etc; I have been searching for what has had this effect on me. It bothers me because i believe that i have fucked my brain up. Never thought possible but apparently it is.

I think I have mild HPPD, that or I just notice what I wouldn't have before.
While I don't know if this qualifies as HPPD, occasionally I'll wake up in the middle of the night full-on tripping for about a minute. This started happening after using 2c-e and DMT. Its always enjoyable though.

ok so say you do psychedelics at one place only.like your house. later on you realize you have symptoms of HPPD. does anyone notice that the place in which they most often take psychs that there HPPD acts up more often in that specific place?

kind of hard to explain what i mean..

What the final verdict on flashbacks? I thought they here a myth and just exaggerated from PTSD and HPPD. The study above talks about them as if they where all one in the same.

In my opinion, flashbacks are just remembering the trip, in vivid detail.
Hence the name "flashbacks"...its not tripping out of nowhere, just recollecting a very beautiful memory :)

chances are if you have visual disturbances and you still desire to take psyches, then your case is not severe. continue to take hallucinogens and it will turn into something much worse. You wont be able to drive, work, function in social settings, etc. because your visuals will be too intense.

you explained it fine. i get your saying and that would be an absolutely. makes sense, i certainly feel an underlying psychedelic glow in my apartment.
