To lose fat and bulk up at the same time takes a lot of work, I am not denying this, but it can be done. I've been able to Shed 2% body fat and gain close to 10 lbs weight (muscle) in less than two months. Of course I had to work my ass off with six days weight lifting along with six days cardio but I was still able to bulk up and get defined as hell. The only problem with this is the possibility of over training.
Really all you need is lots of protein and a workout schedule combining both heavy weight training with cardio and you'll be able to gain muscle and lose fat.
This worked for me but I guess everyone's different.
