Opioids How bad for you are opiates for recreational use?

I have 6 oxy 5mg pills and I have no tolerance other than some vicodin the other day.

I was going to take 15 mg doses twice throughout the week.

Would 15mg do any bodily harm I can't find any facts about opiates on the body.

With that small of a dose, if you stick to it, you won't damage your body at all. That really is a miniscule dose. I would guess you could take 10 times that amount for years twice a week and not do any permanent physical damage

On the other hand...

I was an opiate addict (still kind of am) for about 4 years, on and off. I went to the doctor because I was afraid I had poisoned myself with heavy metals from poppy seed tea. I was fine as far as metals go, but my blood pressure AND blood sugar were very high. Now as far as I know, opiates are supposed to LOWER blood pressure...? I had been clean for about 7 months, no other drugs/acohol, regular exercise, NO family history of heart disease or diabetes.

I can only assume it was the 4 years I spent abusing opiates that lead to my high blood pressure and high blood sugar.

So to answer your question, I would say recreational opiates are safe on your body, but there are inconsistancies. I wonder if I damaged my pancreas somehow? I don't know, but you will be perfectly fine that dose.

I can only assume you were prescribed those pills, for otherwise, you'd be incriminating yourself. So with that assumption in mind, I suggest you ask your doctor, and not us.

Demerol as well, right?

Yep; in fact a quick google search I just did turned up an interesting report from 1952 on pubmed discussing the repercussions of administering pethidine to those who already had liver issues.

Dextropropoxyphene is another that springs to mind in terms of inherent toxicity. Not very recreational though, and hell not very good for analgesia either.

Thanks for the replies.

Actually I don't have percocets, they are just little round 5mg oxycodone pills.

There are about 10 total but I only brought 6 to my girlfriends.

I have about 40 vicoden but I only bring 6 pills to my girlfriends as to avoid any urges of addiction.

I take days off of klonopin and weed and do like a day or two of opiates.

EDIT: By the way, am I chewing these up all at once or just taking them whole or parachuting or what? I never decided how I would take them. Not planning on snorting from everything I've heard.

ever thought of plugging them? woah what a rush!

I read this some where that opiate use perminatley alters the brains pleasure sensors or receptors? any truth to that?

i took H with 15 for the first time and I think it did alter my brain back then.......but I'm probably not a good judge of this as I've never been a grown up that has not had an opioid experience so I can't compare how I was before and after (as my childhood judgement doesn't count).

Opioids are a 'cure-all' to the human brain and hecne I could imagine they permanently change the chemistrty.

Even for us chippers....if one feels cold, or a bit sicklish....just take an oxy!...it becomes so easy to use opioids to cure just about any unwanted stress....sadness, pain, emotional pain, sickness, moodiness etc...everything.

Therein is the danger.

With opiates you dont have to worry about toxicity or bodily harm. You just have to worry about acute respiratory or cardiac depression. If you keep breathing and your heart keeps beating, you should be fine.

If you have a bit of a tolerance from occasional use, 15mg is awesome.

i thought I'm an occasional user but 15mg of OC does jack shit to em these days :!

A regular sporadic user can get a tolerance fast. It doesnt have to be daily, but the more you use it the less it works.
