Codeine Extraction

hahahha south of the river as well :) Seems like we got a little community of local bluelighters. Very cool

Innerself is on it. If you crush it up first it pretty easily dissolves in room temp water.
Basically for cold water extraction get warm tap water, add the crushed tabs, stir. SHould dissolve pretty quickly (like within a min or 2). then plonk it in the freezer so it cools down quickly (don't freeze it!!!). Aspirin is even less soluble at lower temperatures, so more should come out of the water. So like 10 min later filter it out and skull it down (on an empty stomach helps).
I'm trying it again for the second time today/tomorrow (sunday evening) so it should be interesting.

Anyway, tell me how it works out

no warm water is to be used at all during a COLD water extraction, it destroys the codeine at a certain temp. its seriously as simple as it sounds, there are many threads on it use the search engine and follow it step by step. are you using coffee filters? i find Chemists Own strong pain tablets to be good, nurofen plus is always milky IME.

NOTR..

A lot of useful info thanks again guys, im hoping to try it tomorrow

but i really wanna know how long the effect last (say 100mg or 12 tablets of N+) and what sort of effect and intensity i should expect

Thanks Guys

AftyWA

id say 2-6 hours, and i wouldnt expect much from 100mg, id try 150-200, its fair to say ull lose a little bit of codeine if its your first extraction. its hard to say how intense itll be, go try it and see for yourself mate.

theres a quite a few perthites lurking this site my innerself.

alright sweet guys cheers. should be trying it tonight, will let you all know how it goes!

Thanks again

AftyWA

warm water is fine. you don't need to crush the tablets - most will dissolve in warm water.

N+'s aren't splittable anymore.

It pays to start with a small dose of codeine first, to see if you're allergic. maybe do a very small dose then follow with 100mg if there's no bad reaction.

What form of codine to buy?
Nurofen plus. They have the benefit of being easily splittable, minimising the amount of aspirin you take. Also if u screw up the extraction, i'd rather be shoving excessive amounts of aspirin down my throat then paracetamol.

Nurofen + is ibuprofen, not aspirin, and they are NO LONGER SPLITTABLE.

Codeine overdose has the same effects as morphine overdose, namely respiratory depression. But much less risk then morphine.

True, in fact in an overdose of codeine you are probably more likely to die from an excessive histamine reaction.

- How much codine i need to consume for an effect? (Eg: how many packets)
- Potential Health Risks?
- What form of codine to buy (N+ etc)
- How long it takes to take affect/how long it stays in affect

I'll re-answer this because my opinion varies with herbets. Although his information is quite valid.

How much?:
I notice anything more than about 20mg of codeine. at about 150mg I am rather high. People sometimes take as much as 400mg.

Health risks?:
If the extraction is done correctly the health risks are substantially reduced. Addiction however is very much a real issue.

Which tablet?:
I wouldn't go for anything with ibuprofen, it is very harsh on the stomach. Paracetamol is a very safe drug however, so Paracetamol + Codeine tablets are best in my opinion. Panadeine forte is particularly nice since it has a very usable amount of codeine and can usually be consumed without any CWE and still have a reasonably low paracetamol content, but they require a prescription. I am currently in possession of the TerryWhite Para/Codeine 500/10 tablets and I find them to be easily dissolved, no crushing or chopping required if you have a few minutes, and they taste a bunch better than N+. From my experience the Para/Codeine tablets are more favoured.

One question of my own though, anyone know how codeine goes with amitriptylene? From my research it should potentiate the codeine though the literature I have found is limited.

Paracetamol is not 'very safe' take too much of it and you will die from liver failure, this is easier than most people think. On the other hand you can take excessive amounts of ibuprofen and whilst you will get horrible pains and stomach ulcers you won't die.

^^ Yeh somewhere hidden in the last 35 pages is a link to a report where paracetamol poisoning was listed as the most common poisoning in the UK. People just assume that because it's available like candy it can be eaten like candy....

Almost all the liver failure is as a result of mixing it with alcohol or consistent over usage. Also it features prominently in suicide attempts. So the reason you see a good deal of poisoning is because of its prevalence.

Amitriptyline inhibits CYP2D6. However, I have tried this combo and noticed no great reduction in the effects of codeine, just increased sedation. Was OK, not as good as promethazine as a potentiator.

Just tried it last night. 120mg of codeine and 10mg of amitriptyline. A conservative dose and if anything found it to make the codeine a bit less potent and felt not extra drowsiness. In fact I was possibly less drowsy than a similar amount of codeine by itself. Interestingly, rather than being quiet and snide I was positive, laid back, talkative and a bit euphoric. So the test was entirely inconclusive and didn't meet my expectations but gave a result I simply wasn't expecting. I should try this out more extensively in the future to gain some better insight.

Also of note is that the TerryWhite paracetamol/codeine tablets seem quite terrible for CWE. The end result was very cloudy with a very fine white powder permeating through it despite what is, with other pills, an adequate filtering. The amount of substance caught in the filter was far far less than what would be filtered from a similar amount of N+. I am sure I ingested a large amount of paracetamol as a result and would advise people to stay away from this brand or at least put in place a more thorough filtration than I did. What was meant to be a solution was really a suspension.

^ I should also note that in regards to potentiation experiments with codeine, I naturally get a LOT out of the drug and in fact can go way over the ceiling dose, so this may affect my response to CYP2D6 inhibitors.

I stay away from all those generics personally, CO for me only with some N+ as needed. The COs' dissolve so easily that there are no worries about fucking up the filtration, and N+ can be used to 'top up' as it contains the much safer ibuprofen rather then APAP. I'll just pop the number of N+ I need, usually six or so.

Watch those N+s mr blonde, don't want to get a nasty stomach ulcer.

N+ is 100% pointless.

hard to crush, expensive (Fucking rip), gooey and hard to filter.

generic brand co-co > pharma brand co-co (boots, souperdroog, etc) > name brand (always shit and overpriced by at least 100%)

don't bother with ones with ibuprofen in.
