The travel thread

hehe, i could write a book mate. but i would probably get classed as 'racist' so i'll keep my thoughts to myself. ;)

put it this way: they don't exactly do much to negate the stereotypes that your average racist fuckwit likes to propagate. :|

Always diplomatic HAHAHA!!!!!! =D

Oh they're funny characters they are!

Finally getting stuff done now. Won't be postponing my travels which is good (see http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=413098), found out the hurricane season doesn't start until a month or two later in Cuba than me and girlfriend had previously thought.

Might be scrapping the Singapore part of my trip though, only wanted to do that because of something I read on www.seat61.com and also to get my girlfriend to come.

The smoking room I went to in Hong Kong was really small, and I didn't have to light a cigerette to get a hit. But what I didn't get was how all the people had lighters, but your not supposed to bring them with you.

Not in your hand luggage, but people put them in side pockets on their main suitcases etc

Well it was the transit lounge, no one had there main luggage.. it was also 5am in the morning and no shops were open.

They may have broken the rules, god forbid.

Surprised they don't blow up at 30,000ft+, but I guess they're not compressed.

I had a lighter on me in my pocket every time I went on a flight in 2008, and I never once had it taken off me, n no one even mentioned it I don't think? Actually, at Phnom Penn airport there was a big jar thing that all these lighters and things had been chucked in, but they didn't ask me to throw it.

Oh gnoes I am a terrorist menace clearly. 8)

the woman saw a lighter in my carry on at JFK a couple months back on the metal detector (left it in by accident) called someone else over and she just said "it's empty" and let me through.

Went to France on a school trip many years ago and had a lighter in my pocket on the coach journey home. Customs searched the bus and I shat myself thinking I was going to rot in a French prison. Funnily enough, it didn't work out that way and they never noticed and/or cared about the lighter.

You're allowed 1 lighter on your person or in your hand luggage.

eDDe:- Prob not a bad idea missing out Singapore. It's a good laugh on the piss, but the cash you'll save will go quite far in some other places.

Kid: I have only begun looking for a mainstream source today so it will be coming, as for the proof on the ban in Dubai.

Was reading things I did not even know like UK unviersities Lincolnshire and Humberside's Dubai campuses have banned ALL JEwish authors even from bibioliographies at th request of the Dubai Govt., and how while it will allow even Sikh's to have places of worship it will not even allow mentioned that Jews might somehow get in the country, but they are periodical articles and not Govt sources so I will look.

Also saw on the 2006 Tennis brouhaha on Pete Sampras whose dad is a Jew and how he was almost barred, as were ALL ISraeli athletes. Israeli Arabs ARE allowed. Not only Israeli passports banned but even a stamp, the advice from supporters of Dubai? Act like you lost it and apply for a new one. Niiiiiice.

Sort of at best, Do not ask, do not tell which I am sorry, is revolting. I will find the actual Ban on Jews though.

RedArrow: Yeah, you know I never thought about that "pressurised" issue but you are right and yet they always smoked even ont ake off and landing if you can imagine. Worst irrline and I have flown regional Cambodian companies, Central African fly by night jobbers and such.

I've never heard of that education establishment.

However I appreciate that if I ever need to visit Israel and then at a future date Saudi, then I will get a new passport.

As for the smoking, you didn't use to be allowed to smoke on take off or landing on the big airlines.

My parents went to Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Israel on a trip a couple of years ago and in Israel they stamped a loose peice of paper and let them carry it in their passport so there wouldnt be any problems at the next country.

We used to be like that with pockets bulging full of bangers when we got to Dover

=D

Similar thing happened to me. Went to Paris with school, bought a lighter thinking I was all cool and rebelous and then shat myself as I went through customs to get on the ferry, thinking I'd done something illegal. %)

dirty playing cards, pens/lighters where the womens clothes fell off and firecrackers were the most fun things bought on my school trip to france :D

I bought those too. :D

And wee rubber monkeys that when you squeezed them a giant cock popped out.

All of these thing were purchased too, obviously :D

Didn't see the monkey/cock thing though. That sounds great. Did have a man in a barrel whose cock fell out when you pulled the barrel down, but a monkey would be better.

The pound shop in town sells dirty playing cards. Seems rather out of place with all the other general crap in there.

Oo flights to Bangkok are only £446, may be worth the stop over.

Anyone know what Etihad Airways are like?
And the stop over is in Abu Dhabi
