Overriding Naltrexone implant

Honestly that all sounds great but man I just don't think I'm ready to stop getting high yet.

Then find something else than Opiates to get high on.
Something non addictive if possible.
Try , as many people suggested, to take this implant as a great opportunity you have to stay Opiate-free.

If you want to get high SO BAD that you're thinking about removing the implant, then get benzos, or Somas, or get drunk.
Using Weed would be better.
What other drugs than Heroin can you get?

You cannot go from "Getting high Heroin for years" to "Nothing".
Having something to use in between would maybe help. Weed? Legal psychoactives? (you can have a lot of fun with some of them...)

I think the people calling you pathetic are being a little harsh

i'm really not trying to argue. nor do i mean to start shit.
but someone is saying that they want to surgically remove something from their body, because they can't deal with a few days of withdrawal. to CUT INTO THEIR FLESH. because they want to get high... and that's not pathetic to you?

if not pathetic, then very, extremely sad.

I think the people calling you pathetic are being a little harsh. Opiate withdrawals can be pure hell and desperation is often felt in the throes of an addiction. I think that if you agreed to get the naltrexone implant put in, then subconsciously there must be some part of you that wants to stop using. If you really wanted to be using, then you would be doing so by any means possible. If that meant that you would disagree to get the implant, move out of your parents house (although it sounds like you were already out of the house..."coming home for x-mas vacation") and do whatever you wanted & kept getting high. Instead, you went along with it. .

this is a prime example of "victim mentality". It's not his fault he's WDing, its his parents. If your parents didn;t love you so much they would be better off in the long run just cutting you off altogether. But then the story would be "my parents forced me to do surgery on myself and I got a gaping abcess and now they wont speak to me"
Man up. This is some sad shit indeed... but if you keep fucking your parents over, there will be irrepairable damage. I'm still not on great terms with my folks after years have passed since they spent thousands bailing me out of drug debts.
You honestly think one magical day you will just quit opiates? Why? Cos you won't need them? Bullshit. Get rid of this "I'll do it later" mentality and start cleaning up the shitty mess YOU created.
I may come across as harsh but seriously, if you cut this thing out you will never have the willpower to quit ever. Get it together... your parents arent punishing you. You're being punished by the drugs you used.
Think about it. And if this is falling on deaf ears, plz dont even bother coming back here asking for instructions or whatever on the procedure.

^ YES.

If the OP doesn't care about this, others can still read it, maybe have some sort of epiphany from this.

I haven't cut it out. I called the doc and told him I felt like total shit and needed something to help me out. I asked for clonidine, valium and flexiril. He gave me 2 out of 3 (go figure he wouldn't give me valium). Either way the w/d are not nearly as bad considering its only been about 72 hours since I had it put in however the worst part is I cannot sleep.

You know that opiate w/d sleep where you almost hallucinate trying to get comfortable? My mind is constantly wandering and for some reason I just can't get to sleep. I'm going fucking crazy.

I wish I had some bars then I could honestly deal with this ya know? However one thing I thought about was trying to take some more suboxone? Maybe since it has such a strong affinity it will relieve a bit of the w/d symptoms?

Any other help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks folks.

I thought of something a few days ago but opted not to say it.

Now I realize that all the facts should be presented and make your own decision (but shit man, don't cut it out, it will only cause trouble down the road).

Suboxone would alleviate the WDs. Far better than any other opioid you would try to use for that purpose. But you're already so close to the WDs being over (oxy WD, right?), you should ride it out if you can. It seems like its been at least 3-4 days. You must be over the hump by now.

So, suboxone would probably help you. But if you're over the hump, ride it out, call the parents, tell them of your success, and reap the benefits. Live well.

True story.

There are other options, buprenorphine, taper schedule (with DOC or with something like codeine, hydrocodone, etc), benzos, and the cold turkey obviously.

Just pick one and go with it, or do dope and live under your own roof.

That's about as simple as it gets.

I'm still not on great terms with my folks after years have passed since they spent thousands bailing me out of drug debts.
My parent's wouldn't have done that, even if my life was being threatened, I'm sure.

You're quite lucky to have parents that love you in the unconditional regard.

Nah I dont do oxys, IV Heroin on and off for the last 5 years. This last time around I had been using daily for about 5 months. I'm still here in Baltimore though. Which makes it even harder because this is where I first started shooting dope and I know too many people that could get me into shit. When I get back to the ATL in a few days my boy has some blue footballs waiting for me! Yay and maybe 4mg of suboxone too. I just want 1 good nights rest...that is all.

Thanks for all the replies folks. This is definitely a great group of people. It's hard to take advice on shit like this when that junkie part of your brain is telling you to do some crazy shit ya know? Fucking opiates man they are just too damn good. If I honestly had just 1 wish I would wish that I had never ever tried opiates....period. Because I honestly wonder if I will ever be able to forget about that great feeling that comes about 10-15 seconds after I register and pull that spike out of my arm.

Who knows.

Yep. All the logic in the world vs. a shot of dope. I wonder who would win. The key is willpower.

It doesn't matter if you forget it. Its been almost 1.5 years since I've done it, I might be able to remember it if I try, but I just don't care about it anymore. If you try, you don't have to worry about forgetting it. Yes, you can forget it, but more important is that you just don't think about it. Thats success, IMO.
Who knows.
You do. You'll do the right thing.

It's probably too late, but I thought I should add that even once the implant is out you cannot get high for like 3-10 days because it has a LOOOOOONG half-life.

actually its about 3 days. Naltrexone has a similar half life to sub. I think about 36 hours or so. Not sure.

Well, I was on it for only one week and I couldn't get high until the 4th day.

And I was stupid enough to try each day too.

damn that sucks. You were taking it orally? Probably 50mg a day? So figure by 72 hours after your last dose you still has 12.5 mg of naltrexone in your system...

I totally feel you on this one....I'm glad you did the right thing though....you will feel much better about yourself. When I was detoxing from methadone (started going to a clinic to get off heroin) if I could of cut something out of my skin to get high I probably would of seriously considered it. Detoxing can be a serious bitch, espeacially depending on what you are detoxing off of and what kind of mental state you are in. Anyways..just wante to let you know that not everyone on here thinks your crazy for wanting to cut that out of you......since the main consenses on here was that it was pathetic. Anyways hope everything starts looking up for...good luck!!!
