I simply can't take these w/d's. No meds to help me with any of it is killing me so I am going to try to override this implant. Its an 800mg slow realease implant which lasts about 10-12 weeks so it should only be dispensing 80mg a week which is like 10mg a day?

I'm just very worried about ODing since I haven't done any dope in over a week. Anything that would make me respond better to the dope?

Any info would be appreciated. I haven't 100% decided to do this. I just might cut this shit out of me....

ugh im such a junkie.

Dude, you just made the thread about getting it put in like two days ago. You're not going to withdrawal for 10-12 weeks. Ride it out. In a few days it will be over, and in general, having the implant in will be a very good thing.

Please, please do not try to cut anything out or you're going to cause some nasty damage, and probably get quite infected. And if you cut it out, your dad will probably just have another put it.

And unfortunately, you're not going to get dope to break through the naltrexone, which has a higher binding affinity for opiate receptors than heroin does. You could probably blast a bundle and not feel a thing (don't do that and die and blame me though).

If I were you (and I'm not), I would embrace this implant. The willpower that isn't present in the brain is present in a way (probably in your shoulder or wherever). You don't need opiates anymore. A few days of WD, then live will begin again. Its a good thing.

Honestly that all sounds great but man I just don't think I'm ready to stop getting high yet. They sprung this implant on me when I came home for xmas vacation. I had no idea they had this planned so I was taking suboxone all the way up to the day i got it put in. Its like right underneath my skin. Its a pellet, ovular shaped. I figure some surgical steel razor blades, iodide, rubbing alcohol ought to do it. I mean I'm sure its underneath all the layers of skin so I was just gonna make the incision directly on top of the implant and when I hit it I'll know I'm deep enough. Then its just a matter of squeezing it out of the cut I make. Wipe the area down with iodine, get some steri strips to close the wound and I should be ok.

I know it sounds rediculous but man I'm just not ready. I should have never agreed to this shit in the first place.

home surgery isn't the answer, just get some benzos and take it easy for a few days. By next week you are going to look back on this and think how stupid you would have been to cut yourself open over drugs.

wow.

just... wow. who else saw this coming?

man, if you try to cut that thing out, you're liable to bleed to death.
just make sure to have someone alert bluelight of your untimely demise. so we can say "i told you so" ;/

DON'T. FUCKING. DO. IT.

Eh I have been an IV heroin user for 5 years. Never really had any bad bad stuff happen. I mean I have lost jobs, ect, pawned shit but I always managed to keep my shit together for the most part. I mean it's not like I'm performing surgery on myself....i'm just cutting through a few layers of skin.

I dunno i know it sounds crazy but I can't get any valiums and my parents are DEF not letting me out of their site until they see a noticeable change in my symptoms, I.E. once I'm not ill they won't be as worried about me running off doing something stupid.

Bleed to death? When the dude put it in there was like no blood. Like I said its right underneath my skin. I'd only have to make an incision like 1/2 inch wide through my top layers of skin down to the implant then just squeeze it out and close the little cut up. I know someone who has cut one of these out before and he did it a damn pocket knife. (This old timer junkie I know who rides harley's and is pretty rough). Either way I dunno the doc just prescribed me some clonidine and flexiril. He wouldn't give me the valiums because I lied and told him I was using alot less than I was so he doesnt think I need the benzo's.

I'll keep yall updated.

^ Its surgery. Cutting into your body, through all the skin, to remove something, IS surgery.

You seem like your mind is set on cutting it out. If I can persuade you otherwise, I will. If not, I will conserve my energy for other posts, you know what I mean?

But please, think about it before you do anything drastic. The tradeoff is a few days of withdrawal for a lifetime of freedom and happiness. Make the right decision.

I have to agree with everyone else. It's just not a good idea to try and cut this thing out. You probably wont bleed to death, but think about things like infection, loosing a limb, a nasty scar ect.

Take this as a "vacation" of sorts from dope. Trust me, it will still be there when the Naltrexone wears off in two months...but limbs don't usually grow back.

i wonder what would happen if you had to go to the ER with a big, bleeding gash where the implant was... i know you say you wouldn't have to because you're a surgeon or something but say there's complications- what would they do? stitch you up and give you PK's? commit you?

Just think about this: what happens when something go's wrong? what are your parants going to think of you when they know that you cut your self open just to get high?

You are only making tis harder on your self.

I think the people calling you pathetic are being a little harsh. Opiate withdrawals can be pure hell and desperation is often felt in the throes of an addiction. I think that if you agreed to get the naltrexone implant put in, then subconsciously there must be some part of you that wants to stop using. If you really wanted to be using, then you would be doing so by any means possible. If that meant that you would disagree to get the implant, move out of your parents house (although it sounds like you were already out of the house..."coming home for x-mas vacation") and do whatever you wanted & kept getting high. Instead, you went along with it. While it totally sucks, I would really advise against trying to take it out yourself. That is something you would end up really regretting. You could always have a doctor take it out. Unfortunately you're stuck right now. I know someone who cut out their implant (it was in their side, I don't know where yours is) and they cut through a bunch of sensitive shit in their body and passed out from the blood loss, they were in the hospital with an infection for a week and a half and almost ended up dying from it.

Please be careful.

EDIT: I meant to add...that naltrexone implant, from the place in New Jersey is where you got yours from right? That thing is dangerous man...the person I talked about above (who ripped theirs out) hated that thing so fucking bad. It made him so sick, and it had nothing to do with the opiates because he was not using. The naltrexone made him feel like permanent shit. I wonder if it's because his endogenous opiate system and his serotonin, etc. shit was all fucked up from all the opiate abuse and then detox, only to be pumped full of an antagonist while trying to rebuild itself? Anyway, he was always nauseous, tired and just felt like general ass with a lot of anxiety.

The thing isn't approved by the FDA and is really dangerous. I'm sorry to hear your parents sprung that on you, I wouldn't have let them do it. You should try explaining to them that you aren't READY to quit doing dope, and maybe talk to them about the reasons why you are using. If you are open about talking with your parents about your problems it will change the way that they are willing to try to help you. For example, instead of not talking about the issue and only bringing it up when you guys end up screaming at each other whenever you fuck up or get caught with something instead of making it a known and discussed issue would mean that your parents wouldn't try to take such extreme measures like having this done. Although, I don't really know your situation. Just a thought.

bmoredope,

Think about it man, you want to CUT YOURSELF OPEN SO YOU CAN USE DOPE.

How fucked up does that sound? It's the kind of thing you'd look back on and say "I did that... for dope?".

Do the right thing.

A few points:

#1: The Naltrexone that is in your system right now will block the effects of Heroin for approx 48-72 hours. Even if you took the implant out right now, it wouldn't matter how much Heroin you inject. While technically, it is possible to override an antagonist like Naltrexone (or even Buprenorphine) with a full agonist, it would be what they call a 'heroic' ('supratherapeutic') dose. Meaning, you don't have enough money to get enough dope. Even if you did, the result would be very ugly physically with possible OD.
So, opioids are out.

#2: The information about what was going to happen was available to you in advance, this was a bad decision. Don't take drastic measures like this whether its your decision or friends/family/work/whomever is pressuring you.

#3: On the plus side, antagonists do speed up the withdrawal syndrome. I doubt the acute withdrawals will last more than 48-72 hours from the time you first developed symptoms.

#4: Symptomatic medication is the only relief you can get. Over the counter leg cramp/RLS medication (Quinine), anti-nausea (Meclizine), anti-diarrheals (Loperamide, not sure if Vivitrol blocks that), NSAIDs for joint/muscle pain (Ibuprofen works best- or Acetaminophen if you are also having a fever). I haven't tried it but Menopause supplements may be helpful, as the symptoms of menopause incorperate many symptoms of opioid withdrawal (flushing, hot/cold chills, etc).

If you go to a walk-in clinic or hospitals for outpatient treatment (meaning Rx's), Clonidine, a Benzodiazepine, if you have insurance a Rx for RLS medications, Trazodone for insomnia, etc.

Not ready? Not ready?...

Ok i might sound a little harsh but bullshit. Your going to convince your self that you can't do this and your never going to be fucking ready. You gota fight through this, weaker people then you have done it.

Dunno if this is an option but can you go back to your doc and say your freaking out and your thinking about sliceing it out yourself? He might then script you something to help with the wds.

I dunno what the nal implants are like but my sister got one of them contraceptive implants put into her arm. Turns out it wasn't a simple matter of pulling it out as fatty scar tissue grew around it and it took quite a pit of force, lots of cutting and a heap of local to do it. She said he would pull on it with the grip things with alot of force trying to remove it.

I dunno if that tissue thing is typical though but keep that in mind. It might be harder to remove then you think and even after you do pull it out you still have to wait till the stuff already in you wears off before you can shoot dope anyway. After you do get high

Will you look at what you just did and think depressed and down?

I would have to be physically restrained by a couple of grown men to even get that implant. You knew it was going to happen, it's your body not your parents'. You went knowing that you were getting an implant then now you are thinking about cutting it out? Why don't you just get a hammer and beat the shit out of it? I would do that before trying to cut it out.

I bet your next thread is going to be, "Help, I'm bleeding to death!!!!1!!11!."
