second time i had no excuse. i'm not gonna go there right now.

DO IT!!!! :D

I fill up when it's at E usually. I've pushed it several times but have never run out.

Every now and then I'll fill up at 1/4 tank. Maybe 1 outta 15 times.

Empty or right above empty.. I enjoy life living on "the edge", lol.

haha couldn't resist. i tend to keep my gas level around half tank or less for better gas mileage, so i rarely just pump til click.

I don't have a car anymore but when I did I would always refill when I got down to 1/4 tank.

wtf is below E, negative gas? =D

Honestly though, I've been filling it up whenever I see cheap gas, which is nice cuz I usually have a tank that's over halfway full. It makes me feel rich.

"most cars" will let the needle actually go below the E mark and still not run out. but you are damn close when the needle is below the E mark and it depends on the car. some will run out like right at E.

it depends. if you have a digital gas gauge it doesnt work to well.

it also depends wether you own a car with a working gas light, but i never have.

i tend to know how many miles to the gallon my car gets and figure it out that way. it makes people really nervous when i drive around for a few days with the needle at or near E, but i have never run out of gas.

I try and fill up when its a little below the half tank mark. I am forgetful and don't want to run out of gas.

My wife waits until the "E" warning light is on and then tells me she is about to run out of gas. She has had the car for 7 years and never pumped her own gas. I have spoiled her.

my work vans fuel tank holds 35 gallons , just out of habit it keep it topped off back when gas was over $4.oo it ran me over $130 to fill it up :p

holy shit. how much do you pay now?

my gas prices here in texas are around 1.77, cost me 25-30 and i fill up at e with 89 octane unless i have the credit card 93

lol speaking of running out of gas....I am in Oregon right now for work this week. Tonight one of the guys picks me up to take me to dinner. He has a really nice camaro...he is showing me the speed and all of a sudden we start slowing down. We ran out of gas. Totally hilarious, I couldnt stop laughing and he was so embarassed.

Hahhhahahah. Fail.

Waiting for gas light to shine ftw. I usually get 40 miles once that light turns on. I never fill up my car, usually i'll buy a coke or pack of cigs with a 20 dollar bill and tell them to put the change on pump x.

You know you're supposed to always use the octane your engine is built for? If not, it throws the timing off. Bigger isn't always better =)

so wait. since the gauge goes down slower for the first half-tank, do you actually use less gas? or the same amount all the time, but the gauge goes down faster for the last quarter tank, like some sorta crazy CrAzY clock?

i've always been wondering that...

Its different for different cars as they all have diff. fuel systems.

I'd imagine it goes down slower because it also accounts for fuel in the lines, and in some cars there are residual tanks which also get filled up. I guess it would make sense, the bigger the car, bigger the engine - more fuel in the fuel pipe/lines.. just a matter of surface area.

I fill up when I approach E, I think the whole 'debris getting used below the 1/4 mark and using dirtier fuel' really only applies if your car is old and crappy and likely to have mechanical faults.

Every wednesday - pay day lol.

Im usually pretty low by then anyway, but petrol's shit cheap, FINALLY, so i can actually afford to put a decent amount in to get me through the week.
