while bluelight is moderated pretty lightly compared to many online communities, there is not, and nor has there ever been, free speech on bluelight.

I dunno Al, I suppose it all depends upon your definition of 'free speech'.

I'm not advocating total lack of censorship, that would be a bit silly.

But as a Brit living under the most draconion free speech laws that I've ever experienced, Bluelight is still a place where I feel I can say what I want (within reason), without the pigs bashing the door down...

In terms of the free speech issue, this was one of the most frustrating aspects of the 2016 challenges when, despite me still not having ever seen you get credit on the public or staff forums, you managed to keep the site in one piece despite being the only admin for yonks. With the redditor shitposters doing everything possible to try and undermine you, the argument constantly fired at us (and you constantly) was their right to free speech being censored.

As someone who lives in a country that practices free speech without guaranteeing it, it was frustrating to put up with the assumption that the Bill of Rights consisted of amendments to the U.S. Constitution, which does not have any legal relevance in most of the world. It is not just the nature of the multi - national Bluelight community that is the point here, the main issue was that any user of this website has to become a member in order to actively contribute and the only real qualification a good faith candidate for new membership requires is to read and verify that they will abide by the conditions of the Bluelight User Agreement, the terms of which are non negotiable and the purview of the most senior members, be it the sites owners and / or those with administrator responsibilities such as yourself. This site and its content are private property and some idiots could never get that simple concept into their single brain cell.

You are right, I am just still angry at their behavior. As in many disputes of this type it is probably more down to willful ignorance than actual stupidity.
