Returning to Heroin after a long absence

I was told to shut down and be silent from someone who I assumed had experience with heroine; however, it seems by the responses regarding you returning to heroine, even if I don't have first hand experience with the drug, many who have, portray the same sentiments as me.

Hmm, could it be that even though I have no personal experience with heroine, my statement was valid? I will go one further, you have already acquired clean time from heroine; returning may seem romantic, but I seriously doubt it will ever be the same as before.

I was a pretty heavy heroin user in my 20's, I'm from the 80's generation. And I'm not talking about the decade. I started with tar in Los Angeles and then lived in Philadelphia from about 2006-2012 getting bundles from K & A and Camden, sometimes Baltimore or Wilmington. Got sober in 2012, last time I used heroin was January of 2012, I feel like a lot has changed in that time. I haven't been completely sober since 2021. Not a big drinker, pot here and there and for the past few years I've been using kratom, 7-oh now mitragine or whatever is legal where I live in Florida. The past year i have gotten an itch for using heroin again. This isn't a, talk me out of it or go back to meetings thing so please none of that. I feel like alot has changed in 15 years. Idk if its even possible to find actual real heroin anymore. I don't want fentanyl but I feel like thats all there is anymore. And i don't mean like the finding a dealer thing I mean is actual, none fentanyl heroin a thing anymore? Is it safer to try and find tar? I know 15-20 years ago tar was more of a west coast, southwest thing and the north east was all powder & bundles and I remember getting caps in Baltimore I think. Anyways I'd love some advise. I live in the Treasure Coast area of Florida, Martin County, about 30-45 mins N or West Palm. Am I just barking up a fentanyl tree? Are people actually doing actual heroin anymore. I'm not a 23 year old kid anymore who will snort or blast whatever I come across. I'm a 45 year old man with a good job and I good life. I'm not rich by any means but im also not taking a bus to K & A, or walking around on Somerset in 20 degrees looking for a few bags. And most importantly I am not trying to kill myself with fentanyl pretending its heroin. Appreciate any feedback....if im being an idiot feel free to let me know. Thanks
HMU, I live near you, similar situation.

Even if I wanted to relapse I don't think I would trust anything out there these days, any street drug too bad because I was missing the coke I used to get through my friend Rob in the 90's. Dude's been dead for along while now that his daughter would now be older than he was when he died but some good ole Aurora Illinois coke would be cool.

If I were you - and I'm not too far off (got clean from dope in '08) - I wouldn't go back, especially not with the street shit now. Fentanyl cut with metatomidine.... animal tranq plus the worst of the opioids.

If you really want to go back - go on reddit and research the onions. You cannot source here, but reddit will direct you to the things you need to get sorted.

You'll need tor browser, and you'll need bitcoin.

Best of luck

Hey there, welcome to Bluelight! We have a lot in common. I’m 33, from LA born & raised. Did a lot of heroin in my 20’s after a stretch of opioid pain killer dependence. I stopped using in early 2021. That’s a good question, I’ve also wondered if anyone uses real heroin anymore. I’m talking the Mexican brown tar in a balloon that I was used to. I feel like everything now probably has fentanyl in it. Or this new 7oh drug or whatever the kids call it lol. I’d definitely be too afraid to use heroin in this day bc of all the fentanyl. I had a fent overdose in late 2020, but that was me trying to find oblivion. I knew it was fent. Anyway, if you ever need anyone to talk to just holla at ya girl 💜

Same here. I was just telling my husband the other day that I’d be way too scary to use now bc of all the fentanyl in everything

I remember the onion days lol I may have used that route a time or two

They're still alive! I haven't gone onion farming in a minute as I have connects for what I may or may not need, but the onions remain a viable route for vegetable nutrition and thanks to regulatory efforts, remain a place where food safety testing is a standard.

Substitute food and vegetables for: Drugs.

I happened upon an episode of This American Life this morning - 'The Secret of My Death' - the first act is a sister of a woman who overdosed and died back in the early 2010s (it seems, the episode originally aired in like 2018) - she's going through her sister's phone and seeing the texts sent and calls made in the day of her death and the days leading up to it. It's some real shit, had me in tears while listening.

I got clean in '08 from dope, long before fentanyl came in the way it eventually would (we had a blip in '06 on the east coast - a likely beta test by the cartels to see if fetty would pass market saturation). What got me clean was finding my friend Eric dead from an OD. I was living with him and using at the time, but we'd had a fight a few days before and I had stayed with friends. During that time, he reached out to me to try and cop and since we'd been fighting I told him to fuck off. His mom and brother went through his phone after he died and saw our texts - his mom later called me in 2018 after finding me on facebook. She said I was one of the last people he saw and talked to, she just wanted to know more about what happened. She said that they thought I was the person who gave him the bad drugs, or that I had been there when he died. She also said that it was the text messages that showed I wasn't.

I often think about that, how him dying helped me see that I needed to get clean. How getting clean lead me to going back to school to study to become a public health social worker (MPH, MSW) and work in addictions throughout the rise of fentanyl. How that work led me to facing so many overdoses like Eric's, so many patients and families that were effected by overdose deaths, or would be. How many friends I've lost, people who helped me get clean, people I used with, people I dated, people I helped get clean, people in my family... how much death we've all known from this shit.

I'm glad to know that overdose deaths have finally started to come down. The last few years have lead to a drop in the death rate amongst users, and that trend will hopefully continue. I've seen too much death for one life.
