Wow, the last reply was in 2024. What happened here? I thought a lot more people were supposed to be using this.

Really wish I could find a good horror movie, I mean something that's just amazing. All the new ones that everybody was rapping about are just alright. Sinners was a cool story and enjoyed but I honestly believe it got as much praise as it did because it was a black horror movie there I said it. I read some of the racist aholes online talking about how it's a rip off of Dusk til Dawn and wtf are you talking about it, they're completely different stories so got in a few arguments about that, my guess it's just douchebags reaching for something to bitch about because it's a predominately black movie. Weapons was cool, movies that have to do with black magic or some spiritual sorcery aspect are my fave but it was a little confusing because I couldn't believe the whole movie was Gladys just needing the kids to prolong her life and left unanswered questions which was probably on purpose so they could make a movie about her. Longlegs was the one I was looking forward to but the movie just tried too hard to be creepy and dark which made Nick Cage just silly to me and I laughed a few times. Def should've toned it down and went with a Buffalo Bill vibe, it's kinda like in Tropic Thunder when Downey Jr is talking about Simple Jack and tells him you never go full retard same kinda thing, overdid it on the creepy.

Nah that's Coffin Joe bro, director of one of the first Brazilian horror movie, scary cuz he's been dead for 5 years now
 
The Conjuring: I found it pretty ineffectual. Despite not having a huge budget, it felt far too slickly produced for a horror movie -- more like a low-action action film with horror elements.

Obsession: not too heavy but a lot of fun to watch. The lead actress did a great job as a maniac, and some of the movements they had her doing were creepy in the right way. I'll keep an eye out for Barker.

Backrooms: I started out skeptical. Are they really trying to pull off a horror movie this brightly lit and yellow? It took a while to really get going, but they did indeed pull it off: the creature design made up for the otherwise-not-terribly-creepy (but nonetheless cool) setting. The story was vague, but that's fine for this type of movie. This was my favourite of this batch.

The Wailing: I was disappointed, given the critical acclaim this film received. Despite all the blood, death, and possession, it just wasn't scary at all. Parasite was much creepier, and I wouldn't really call that a horror film. Part of it, I think, is how feeble the protagonist seemed. There were some interesting parts, to be sure, like the Korean exorcism ritual.
