Harm Reduction Alcohol substitute that can be used every 3-4 nights

I have discovered that there is a substitute for alcohol that is non-addictive, but it can only be used every third night at a minimum. It consists of 1.2 mg scopolamine and 150 mg pregabalin, mixed with 1-2 beers if you still want to have a small amount of alcohol. A rapid tolerance builds to the scopolamine, and hence the advice to only use it once every 3-4 days. I just smoke a bit of weed on non-alcohol-substitute nights, only 1/2 to 1 cone. I've also been looking at replies to my post asking about weed substitutes, so maybe soon I won't need the weed at all.

Scopolamine is a anticholinergic and deliriant and should absolutly not be taken regularly. It can cause dementia. Also 1mg is a really high dose the scopolamine patch releases 1mg over 3 days. I used that for food poisoning and that was plenty enough scop to use. Shit makes you feel weird

Why not just smoke weed though?
OP made another thread on why.

There are dozens of botanical ways to access the THC effect (CB1 mainly), including non-cannabis cannabinoids.

Also the non-THC cannabinoids tend to be well-tolerated (some are antipsychotic / nervines) and the cannabis terpenes are found in many plants, they're all psychoactive. I estimate these volatiles contribute at least 50% of the overall cannabis effect.

have discovered that there is a substitute for alcohol that is non-addictive...
Alcohol has well-known GABA and anti-glutamate effects but it's metabolites (see tetrahydroisoquinolines) have various properties including opioidergic and dopaminergic (eg DRI). And thats just what's known & documented... there's likely many more undiscovered things going on.

The tetrahydroisoquinolines form from dopamine but the same process happens with serotonin forming "beta-carbolines" which are also psychoactive.

This post gives a good insight into alcohols pharmacological effects:

I understand the desire for a substitute. However, I do not really support the idea of taking Scopolomine regularly. My understanding is that it is a harmful substance.

Pregabalin (Lyrica) and Gabapentinoids in general appear to show some cross-tolerance with GABA agonists. I don't think it is accurate to call it a substitute for this reason.

Incorporating other drugs into your regimen with the idea of foregoing tolerance seems like a good idea, while it often just opens the door for poly-substance addiction.

You're not taking these things to get less fucked up, are you? You are trying to get more fucked up and that is the reason why this is a bad personal philosophy for people like you or me.

You have Cannabis. You have Alcohol. Use them and dont abuse them and they can provide you with a lifetime of good feels. Milk the cow too frequently and it just dies.

great idea adding scopolamine with a little beer especially if u were a heavy drinker

How is that a great idea? Adding a strong anticholinergic to alcohol is a horrible idea imo. Also alcohol has a dementia risk as well so adding it to scopolamine willl increase that risk

Try kava kava. Passion flower tea if u can get the good stuff that actually turns the water purple can be quite relaxing wont gst u fucked up or nothing tho but kava can if given the right strain and dosage. Phenibut can be used but at max id use 3 times a month but even 1 time a month is too much if u ask me its very very addictin and dependancu can happen in 2 to 3 uses

Alcohol is one of the most destructive substances and it should be avoided. With that being said, did I actually read correctly that you wanted to replace alcohol with scopolamine and to use it on a regular basis!??!

I am only using 1.2 mg of pharmaceutical scopolamine hydrobromide every 5-6 nights. I can absolutely understand advice not to use it, as I have read what it does at higher doses and I definitely do not want to go there. There are plenty of scopolamine horror stories, and I am too scared of it to ever use a moderate or heavy dose. My 1.2 mg consists of 4 Kwells travel sickness tablets taken together.

So what is the upshot? What does it actually do that makes you think this is a good idea? Everything I read sounds horribly unpleasant at best., and at worst a bad way to die.
Can you find a treatment program somewhere? Or any of the other suggestions people have had? There are much better ways than scopolamine.
Good luck, take care of yourself

I have stopped using it now. When I was taking it, it created a drunkish dizzy-like feeling that took my mind off using alcohol to get the same effect. I understand this may not be the same for everyone, and that higher doses are REALLY unpleasant. Most people who have tried that only do it once.

I should also add that I have now totally quit alcohol. I wasn't getting any pleasure at all from it any more, and I had become hypersensitive to it. Even a single night of drinking created several days of severe anxiety and other withdrawal-like symptoms, even if I spaced the drinking out to one night each week, and my final drinking episode involving a mere 2 beers still brought on the anxiety and other symptoms. I have concluded that I am now allergic to alcohol, possibly due to kindling, and so have quit entirely. I am also taking acamprosate, which I was skeptical about but which I think may be stopping alcohol cravings. I no longer miss alcohol, whereas before I believed I would never be able to permanently quit without cravings. I'm not using any alcohol substitute either, just a bit of weed at night (I also need low doses of that because I am hypersensitive to it).

I've honestly heard every variety of druggie stuff over the years, but I've never heard of someone speak of scopolamine use so casually like it was served up next to coffee at a diner. Bravo man. Thanks for the smile.

That drug is a war crime against yourself, technically.

I have seen other people enjoying the effects of anticholinergic blockade, but scopolamine is next level.

I can almost assure you this combo is unadvisable and in repeated doses will lead to early dementia. Acutely it may not be noticeably harmful.

Have you tried supratherapeutic doses of other less harmful compounds like diphenhydramine (benadryl)?

I've now quit both scopolamine and alcohol totally, and am in the process of getting off a low dose of sedatives. The scopolamine dose I was using, 1.2 mg, is 4 Kwells tablets and was not enough to create any psychedelic or horror reactions, but it was irresponsible of me to promote its use at any dose. At the time I was desperate to quit alcohol and could not bear to think about never having the intoxicant effect again, hence the desperate search for substitutes, but now that I am off it I am finding that I no longer miss it (I am also taking acamprosate).

Smart move my friend. I'd frankly just be honest with your doctor about your combo. It's not reckless drug use by any means, but there are much safer medicine and pharmacological alternatives.

Frankly it I need sleep I enjoy taking low doses of quetiapine. I find it both more effective and has less side effects than an OTC sleep aid like benadryl. And unlike other neuroleptics, it doesn't stop me from getting high the next day if I wanted to.

Thanks. I haven't yet told my doctor about scopolamine, as I felt a bit stupid for taking it.

Yes I take quetiapine too, either 50 or 100 mg, but I've heard that even 25 mg can help with sleep.
