Not that I doubted you BB, but even so that sentence seemed so unbelievable that I had to verify it. And verification came back loud and clear, that indeed it was a thing, presumably right from when they started 'the feature' in 1969, possibly right up to January 2015, when the topless pictures ended due to widespread pressure from many quarters, MPs, through to women's Activism groups. Although I wouldn't be surprised if the 16 year olds were 'phased out' at some point before that.

Obviously today, if you still owned any of those newspapers, or found online versions to download, AFAIK you'd be wide open to being charged for possessing child pornography.

Even though I've seen confirmation, I still find it incredible that the Sun used 16 year old girls as their topless page 3 models, until an unknown date, when this practice ended.

I assume that it must have been before 2015, as laws regarding such material on the internet were rapidly catching up and growing teeth in that decade! Maybe even in the noughties, I;m not sure exactly 'when everything changed' in a very extreme total turn around, kind of way.

At the same time as featuring topless 16 year olds on their page 3, and sexualsing 16 year olds more broadly, Charlotte Church for example, (we've already seen that there was sexualised articles and photos about her getting published when she was just 15. I'm sure there'd be loads more examples. The Brooke Shields rabbit hole is not one I wish to go down, but I'm sure there'd be loads of examples regarding her.) there'd be sensationalist front page articles covering the various high profile pdfs of the time getting sent to prison for their crimes. IIRC there was a lot of sexy photos of the 14 year old Mandy Smith (Bill Wyman's "girl friend". I was going to post it but I was beaten to the task, several papers like Daily Sport & The Sun would have a count down to a girl being 16 & on her birthday they would put out a photo of her with her boobs out as you have to be 16 to show it.

These days if you did that a bunch of skinhead Lesbian freaks & goddamn Communist nutcases would be shouting you are a Nazi & be selling issues of The Socialist Worker.

Either the reporter and editor of that Brass Eye article were too stupid to realise that that particular episode of Brass Eye was a satirical piss take of the way television stations and news broadcasts were hysterically reporting on pedophilia issues at the time, or they didn't think their readers would understand, and just tried to stir up outrage, and completely missed the point., whatever the case.

The show was not "sick", it was merely reflecting the state of TV news and documentaries at the time, in a highly satirical way.
