hey everybody, just thought i’d come back and give everybody an update

i am going on 15 months since my last injection and am doing incredibly well, i am 110% back to being the person i was before the injections, i might even say better than i was before the injections messed me up. i’ve returned to my studies and rarely think about the injections / the hell i experienced from invega but when it does cross my mind i think about how dark it was and how thankful i am to have come out the other side better than before. please believe me when i say it gets better so just hang in there

reflecting back on it all i believe there was a handful of things that helped my recovery such as regular exercise, healthy eating, taking supplements, the several acupuncture sessions i did for anxiety, therapy (CBT), connection and community, the love i have for my child, self care, good sleep hygiene (aiming to get 7-8 hours sleep even if i was waking up through the night), giving myself things to look forward to whether it was big or small but i think the most important thing is to be as positive as possible… i never let any negative thoughts overtake me, i did gratitude journaling and told myself 3 postive things anytime i had a negative thought (highly recommend watching youtube vids on brain plasticity)
as for medication, i believe the bupropion in the combo medication i’ve spoken of here also helped, it’s not a magical fix and won’t take away all your problems but personally for me it did help to elevate my mood.
i know how difficult of a time you’re having but you will absolutely get through this!!

just do your best to give yourself the love and care you need and deserve through your recovery journey even if it comes with great difficulty

maybe showering feels like too much of a chore but at least brush your teeth and wash your face, going to the gym might be a bit much for you right now but atleast go for a 20-30 minute walk and get some sunlight. just do whatever you can the best that you can

you can and will absolutely get through this so don’t give up, life as you knew it before the injections is still there, you just got to soldier through until you get there
